The donations for residents affected by the fire in London have been amazing. They actually have so much now that they are currently not taking any more physical donations as they need to sort through what has been donated and see what is then needed. But of course the residents will need to re start their lives and will need items then. Donations of lego (or other toys) would be wonderful. The best think to do regarding donations is to check the website for the Borough because it will have all the info of how and where and when to donate. This way it can be made certain donations are going to official drop off points and will definitely go to the residents. The flats are located in The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. It's website is www.rbkc.org.uk. I personally found it's Facebook page easier to get info. There is a link to their Facebook page on the website. I think there will be some plans for 'toy packs' - especially as some families will be celebrating Eid soon and gifts for the children would be fantastic. If I can get some more info I will let you all know. Thanks.

Just to update. There is a a lot of chaos happening around this tragic fire. Physical donations have been asked to stop as they have so much but there lots of individuals and groups still collecting and distributing. Official information is to be very careful about who you donate too as already scams have happened - which is so sad. The main focus on the moment is food and toiletries as they need to be replaced on a daily basis however it seems to be better to donate money so these items can be bought locally. I think it is wonderful that people would love to donate lego to the children. I would really recommend however unless you are a local resident of Kensington to donate money through the official ways because that way you can be sure it is getting to the people who need it. I believe some of the churches /mosques etc in Kensington will be doing gifts of new toys. I am going to try and find out more information on Monday.
