As of last night it was $229.  I wonder if someone is going to get fired for that snafu.

Probably not. It's one product out of the probably millions they sell. I'm sure there are errors all the time. We are just focused on LEGO. And who knows, it may not have even been an error.

They aren't losing money discounting a set for 30%. It isn't an exclusive set so it will drop that low or lower plenty of times in the future.

I think something similar happened when the Statue of Liberty was released.  I think they had it for 40% off.

Any chance this may be a strategy they use on more expensive items that they don't think they'd otherwise sell out of, start with a discounted price on release day in an effort to make as many sales as possible with minimal profit then with future shipments they sell them at RRP?

Possibly. Here's hoping they do it with voltron :)

It is definitively strategy of some sort. I have bought my Avengers Guardian's ship and the Ninjago temple of the ultimate, ultimate weapon there as the were substantially cheaper. It does seem competitors eventually cut their prices anyways, but Wal Mart does tend to start at that lower price.

I wasn't able to grab at WalMart but did at LEGO.com and with a CitiCard, took a screenshot of the WalMart page and they should price match it.

I have to give much credit to Lego for the Ninjago movie line. In addition to the two best sets i think i've ever built or probably will ever build-Destiny's Bounty and Ninjago City-the Temple of the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon is another master class in technique. At this point in the game i'd dare say most of us aren't surprised or wondering where the instructions are taking us as we assemble but i was baffled while putting together the first Chinese lion or "foo dog". Seeing it reveal itself about halfway through the build made me genuinely surprised and happy. I'm not usually the biggest fan of the diorama type set and i don't know where the TOTUUW stands in the Ninjago canon, as i've never built another, but i thoroughly enjoyed myself for a few hours this afternoon.
