To get back on topic - I'm not familiar with the history of the design videos. Yes, there is a tiny MF and a space slug, but to me that seems a reach to suggest this means a UCS Falcon is in the works. Is there more backstory here of similar teases?
Or did anyone from Lego say that the new MF will have as many pieces as this thread has posts in it? And now all of you are trying to inflate that number? (for the same price of course)
I think we need McCutchen back.
On-Topic - On the video, my first thought was Tremors and the other designer was just running, and I thought that was a bit random. It was only when I came on this forum that I was sent back to see the MF in the guy's hand. Anyone else think Tremors (or heard of Tremors)?
I have heard of stuff like that occurring before, but since I don't generally watch the Designer videos I'm a bit confused as to exactly what people key in on as being a teaser.
at the start of the video for the ucs snowspeeder, @CM4S pointed out the designer doing a spinning round motion and guessed that the carousel would be released next and he was right.
At the start of the video for the carousel for a brief second they are holding a giant cardboard space slug (someone will know the correct name for it) chasing a teeny tiny MF.
There have been other things that point to the MF being released soon but this is pretty compelling for me.
Or, it could just be referencing an older set? Like a Fairground Mixer?
Anybody catch the pre-Snowspeeder clue where Marcos is crushed by an AT-AT? Or the pre-Cinderella Castle clue where he was cleaning the floors for his evil step-sisters and Lady Tremaine?
I made a majority of those up.
A leaked image?
Anything?
Of course not. Bah.
I'd just like to point out that the 'Jamie spinning around' thing has been in at least 3 designer videos (Assembly Square, Silent Mary and Snow Speeder) so if it was a teaser it has been around a while. If Space Slug is a teaser, who knows how many times we'll have to see it before it actually pays off.
I for one believe that a UCS MF will be re-released if not this year, next year. My question is, how much better does it have to be to pay $700-800 for it. I have the 'original UCS MF' so for me it will have to blow me away to pay that much for it. It would have to be equal in size, with a fully detailed interior, constructed so that you could lift it without it falling apart (a la Slave I) and include a slew of really cool minifigs. Something like 7000 pieces.
So, what would it take for you?
@CM4S didn't go back he said it at the time and he was right which is what @MrKettle said.
I'll just edit the rest out, no need to be mean.
A simple reproduction would be enough for me to buy it! I'm unwilling to
part with £3K-£5K for an original. However, I really want it to be at
least as big as the original set! A really nice bonus would be some interior but that's probably not going to happen based on the Death Star re-release.
I get what you are saying, making the facts fit the story is never the way to go. But he seems to have a track record of 'predicting' things and I'm sure he didn't just base it on one second of footage but rather he came to that conclusion and the spinning footage just helped confirm it which suggests that Lego is in the habit of leaving Easter eggs.
Same with the MF, the rumour is that it will contain a mynock (sp?) and be based on Empire (Lego LOVES Empire donchaknow) so it kind of fits. It would either be a huge coincidence or trolling of an epic kind to include a one second clip of the very thing people are obsessing over.
yeah of ninjago movie and justice league sets. wait, actually no one cared about that.
(Sorry not sorry :P)
I've heard that from someone else too but I seriously just don't believe it. They also said we'd get a surprise RELEASE on the 4th.
Which I think is impossible because
A. We would know
B. We would have seen it by now
Really though, who cares about that... ;P
Hey don't look at me! I'll be glad to find out in two days if I need to set aside $800 for that special day in October...
I've got my monies locked in for Apollo Saturn V. Reasonable price / looks amazing.
Well, I remember seeing the first pictures from the NY toy fair Feb 2007. Was absolutely just blown away. I can remember pictures of the designer holding it in the air and delicately swooshing.
I know it was up for pre-order on [email protected] at some point in March (yes, pre-order!!) for delivery end of September, begining of October.
Received notification of required payment in September, and the beast arrived the beginning of October.
It's the only set I know of that was available for ordering 6 months prior to release.
LEGO must have been really nervous about putting that set into production.
The designer, at that time the head of SW team, built it in his free time and apparently had no company restrictions/requirements. Somewhere there are articles/interviews about this, unfortunately didn't find them with a quick search, but they're there somewhere.
And another post with no new information about a hopeful new release...
that image you posted had got to be the most real looking one i seen.
it would be nice to get this again but it price point. is way to high.
That said, if all we know is "$800 D2C set" and not that it's a Millennium Falcon... Then I hope it's some giant Ninjago thing!
