Stash2Sixx Eurobrick's Star Wars moderator responding to people posting @CM4S MF picture.
"Posting fake images is as bad as posting bullshit info in here. Do it...and risk being removed for good."
Good moderating?
Yes. Doesn't stand for no shit.
[fortunately for me they're a little more tolerant in these woods]
Who cares if someone posts a light-hearted meme or quotes a prior post or photo?
Actually, nevermind. The mods here liked the over-explosion fake UCS MF photo. Maybe I'm just being defensive.
Now even if you think its good to have a forum be heavily moderated it doesn't mean that you think its right for a moderator to swear, be aggressive, say they will ban everyone that asks a question.
But where I did agree with @CCC is when he said this:
And in my opinion that is much better than what we have seen here recently.
That said I do agree with you. I find myself spending less and less time on these forums over the past few months do it in large part to a lack of interesting contact and conversation
And I don't waste what little brainpower I have left on what my third cousins and former high school classmates are up to.
1) Stick to the rules, not a problem.
2) Don't stick to the rules, get a time-out, but if you agree to stick to the rules in future you are allowed back (educate about wrong doing).
That is pretty much how I treat my kids. Don't break the rules, and if you do you have to understand why you broke the rules before being allowed to continue to play.
Brickset is super light on moderation. That is part of the problem, going the other way from Eurobricks. This thread is pretty useless, for example. Most of it is completely off topic, and contains very little rumours. Lots of speculation, wants, memes, complaints, complete tangents (like this post), ... but very little on topic about rumours.
But then, that is what the brickset forums seem to be - more chat than substance, not that it is a bad thing. Just that it is different to EB where they prefer to keep off-topic chat out of the main information threads. I wouldn't want brickset forums to try to become more like eurobricks in terms of content.
That said, there are rules here that need ot be followed. For example, posting watermarked images. They get removed, and I think people get warned for it. What if that person goes on and on posting them again and again. Should they be banned? If so, is that heavy handed? If someone is clearly underage or continually posts spam, is it heavy handed to ban them? In my view no, it is for the good of the forum if they are warned and continue to do it.
The thing with Stash2Stixx is that it's really hypocrite when you consistently post rumors, but when others do it, they get a time-out or banned. It's really annoying. I see people here talk about the same rumors and leaked images, but people know they shouldn't post it here so the conversation slowly turns into a discussion about the leaked things without everybody posting images. I don't think that is a problem, but if you consistently say 'this is a bad thing' then it will probably get even more attention than you want.
I think you can ask people politly to stop posting leaks with watermarks and tell them they will get a warning if they do it again in the future, but with respect and on a normal tone. Not like 'STOP POSTING MF RUMORS YOU WILL GET BANNED, but yeah the MF is coming'.
I still use EB as my main source for when it comes to Lego News/discussion, but that is mainly because it seems that EB has more people who talk about it. However the last couple of months it's more and more nonsense and seemingly 12 year old kids. I also don't like the layout for this forum as it seems a little unclear for me, but I guess you should just get used to it haha.
Anyway sorry for this totally irrelevant post which every member here has probably posted sometime in his life on this forum.
the short of this discussion is that EB is sort of the courthouse for lego news. there are procedures to be followed, a grumpy Judge just trying to do what the law says, and a ton of people all wanting to talk about things that don't affect the case. while we here at Brickset are the local Pub/Bar bunch of guys and gals out having a good time talking about what ever is current in our interests. and having a grand old time doing it. both are good for what they are, fun vs. function.
I think the thing is brickset used to be the pub at the start of the night with fun and interesting talk. Sure there was always that guy that had a head start and wasn't making any sense but for the most part people were engaging. And new people would come and join in all the time.
Now we seem to be the same pub at the end of the night, where all conversations are complete nonsense and we laugh hysterically at nothing. Where one by one people are either leaving, not saying much and just sitting in the corner or talking endlessly but saying nothing.
Which doesn't mean it's wrong. Or right. Just that it's your opinion. I, on the other hand, don't mind the memes, nonsense, quoting pictures, etc.
The only thing that even mildly annoys me (if I could even call it that), is the talk of this forum vs. that forum and this moderator vs. that one.
Every forum is different and every person will have different opinions. In the end, opinions are just that...opinions. There's nothing wrong with them, but they could do without some of the sharp edges.

I'm not sure I want the rumors to be true. My wife and I have been happily married for 8 years today. If the rumors of a UCS Falcon turn out to be true, I'm not sure if the next 8 years will be as blissful.
(That last little bit is probably classified as nonsense though given it relates more to my marriage than the Falcon.)
Congratulations! July will be my 12th. I am confident that my Lego enthusiasm is probably safe at this point.
With respect to a UCS MF - you only need to buy three. I would just throw the hundreds of Silver Cenutrion polys at her as a distraction when you bring the MFs home.
Who's round is it and is it karaoke night?
Sorry couldn't resist.
more speculation and sausages and white rangefinders.
Apparently, the Millennium Falcon does the Kessel Run in a similar way, making it's way via unusual direction changes, accelerations and by avoiding the Maw black hole cluster. I'm not certain that this thread can avoid the same fate, but what a way to go, eh?!
Wait, is this a meme?
My mind has been blown. Worlds colliding!

Why oh why can I not post a meme?
You're thinking of Chit-Chat. He's Jibber Jabber's second cousin on the Yada Yada Yadas side.
