UCS falcon rumours (that turned out to be true!)

Guess I got screwed. Bought day one in store. Never got card or email. I bought day one in store. Called customer service and they had no record of me buying. I had to send in my receipt. Said they would reprint my card, but all promos will be good since it they would be tied to my account. Now today no email, and no double points when signed in online. Guess I have to make another call. Wonder what the runaround will be this time.

For what it's worth, I purchased the UCS Falcon on Jan 8th and I am showing double VIP for Star Wars, so I guess they did extend the Black VIP card promo beyond 12/31/2017.

So today's update. Awhile back the lego store lost my card.(never gave it back after I checked out, but they said I did.) According to the computer the store requested the new card.(100% positive I had to call for a new one) the computer showed two VIP numbers both of which are not on the card I've been using in store for years. They show my original number online. They think that the "new" number is the reason why I don't get the promos on line. They also said that the system showed the email for the promos was sent out. Checked my spam and junk but no record of it. They will try to have the VIP team update my number so it matches. They don't know why I was able to buy, but the promos don't work. Funny thing is the points online match my receipt and I'm able to get all non black promos for over two years.(both online and in store) They said it's too late to have a black card reprinted, but would try. They said hopefully they can get it straight by monday.

So bottom line no black card for me, and no promos untill the system can be updated with my "new" number if possible.

The only set I was after was the Rathtar Escape which Amazon have reduced by £25.  So I cannot decide if I want to spend with Lego direct but get double points and the 60 years of Lego set (by adding Ahch-To for a new Rey and a extra Porg) or save money upfront and time using Amazon instead.  If double points was on Lego exclusives it might make it easier to decide.  But it's the 60 years set making the choice a conundrum not the black VIP promo.

TLG need to sort out their email system(s). Yet again, I've received nothing about this.
I got an email about Ship In A Bottle earlier today, so they are capable of sending me an email when they feel like it.

Got the email with the "exciting" offers. Underwhelmed to say the least.  I no longer have any expectations or hopes of anything particularly good tied to the Black VIP card.

I purchased mine on 9-22 and haven't received my black card but I did get the email today.  No double points for SW online for me:(

I haven't received the card but got the email. It came from [email protected] I think all VIP emails come from that address.

Can I ask if that's all the info on the black VIP deals so far as I haven't received an email either yet. 

The black card seems to be more trouble than it's worth, I've already received mine in the wrong name after Lego changed my account name 3-4 times without my permission and now I'm waiting for a replacement card.

No double VIP points showing up for me either, seems a mess.

@exciter1 As per today's Brickset article: Note however that the VIP points will not show as x2 on the online product page, but they will be automatically multiplied when VIP points are applied to the specific VIP account.

As a follow up, the only reason mine was showing double VIP points was because I added the buildable Vader. I didn't realize that one was eligible for double VIP for everyone. So who knows if the promo was extended or not.

At least those who had the feeling at the back of their minds that they would be woefully disappointed with the black VIP card promos, can take comfort that they were right.

Now, double points SW to qualify for the 60th Anniversary set, or wait to get 2 Year of the Dog sets?  hmmm

Bought #75144 Snowspeeder today instore. 2x VIP was applied at the till.

UCS Falcon now also in stock at Fun.be. RRP but plenty of availability (50+). Fun delivers to BE/NL/LU.

We've seen a fair number of #75192 available at a handful of retailers in Europe recently. Stock seems to last longer than a couple of days too - John Lewis (UK) still has stock in the UK at the moment. 

Lego store availability remains a rare occurrence still, both online and in stores. The Bluewater supervisor I spoke this week said it had been weeks since they received a shipment. Maybe LEGO decided to give retail priority for now.

This means you can buy a UCS Falcon at RRP in these countries without too much effort. It also means people not "in the know" can get the set at normal price instead of inflated reseller prices. I've already seen reseller prices in the 1100 -1200 € range slashed to near-RRP. 

After nearly 6 months, the market is cooling down a little bit. I'm confident we'll see the set regularly discounted in another 6 months.

I spoke to someone at Lego yesterday and she said they’ll be credited when whatever you bought ships. She also said all US black cards will be delivered by the end of the month.

I finally got my black card today (was a day one purchase, never got the email about the back card being sent but did get the email for the promo).

Also, I can confirm that when you use your card in store for the promo you don’t need to have the actual black card with you.

Yes, the account carries the data, so you dont need your actual black card with you, your old one will do

I went today to pick up Ship In Bottle and got a few things and Boba Fett. My total was over $125 so they gave me the 60th set.  The clerk said the Fett would be eligible for double points due to my black card....low and behold, no double points. The reason I am told is if you read the fine print, no extra points for the black card if a gift is offered. It's only $1.50 on points for the Fett, but would be total crap had I bought a UCS. Buyer beware.

Wasn't there only meant to be two platinum R2 D2s in existence, both only obtainable through a special VIP mailing list 'raffle' that was sent out late November/early December last year? I'm thinking either there's only one R2 up for grabs with that competition, or there were more than 2 made, so some more will be available to black VIP members. The odds of winning one would certainly be higher if it was another raffle style contest (with a question for Canadians).

I would contact C.S. about this. I went into a store over the weekend and picked up a small Star Wars set to take me over the spend threshold to get the 60 years set.

Used my old VIP card and didn't even mention I had a black VIP card and my receipt showed the extra points had been added by the till.

I think it might be worth calling them to check the black VIP offers are attached to your account properly.

Your experience was very different from mine. I'm in the UK, I visited the Leicester Square store - I bought BB8, Justice League Party, and the Valentines Bunny, which came to just over £100 (after discounts). They then gave me the 60th Anniversary set, scanned it (It came up with a value of £0.01, or 1p), and I walked out. My Lego.com account now shows double points for BB8.
