Got mine on Saturday as well, got my set early to mid-November.  Looks like the floodgates to the US have finally opened.  Now I just have to decide if I want to carry it around in my wallet, or keep it in the envelope in a binder for 20 years so it can appreciate... (<-- That was a joke. :P )

If I ever get mine I'm putting it in a plastic case for baseball cards to protect it. What's the point of having a black card, and not being able to whip it out to show it off. Plus if there is special sets I don't trust the computer to know you should get them. Having your black card is proof you bought it.

I'm keeping mine sealed in a case above my headboard and I'm not kidding.

Considering the sorry state my regular VIP card I will be taking extra care of my black one as well.

The only time I've ever 'whipped out' the VIP card is on holiday in the US. No Lego stores in the Netherlands to use these. And even my dad was able to use just my VIP number to buy stuff (6x Lester!) at the London Lego store without having my VIP card on hand. So I'm not at all fussed about not having the black card in hand yet.

I can't even remember where my VIP card is at home, never been to a lego store yet, so always online and its all there, expect black one will end up near MF once built.

I'm also in Northeast US and got mine Saturday.  I ordered the day it was released
And the same for me.  So much for getting it “by the end of November”.

I'm wearing mine around my neck in a case, sort of like how Flavor Flav wears clocks.

I'm keeping my black VIP card in my wallet to impress the women. "You think that's good - you wanna come back to my place to see my space slug?"
Just wait till they get a glimpse of your MilF!

Can I throw out my old tattered VIP card now that I have my black card or is the old one still useful?
  • BrainsluggedBrainslugged Member Posts: 2,250
^You can throw both of them out if you want. They can look your VIP details up in store from your name. Whatever bonuses that come as a result of having the black card are linked to your VIP account, not to any physical card.

^&^^ I wouldn't trust the computer, keep both cards @PapaBear. I bought day on in store, and didn't receive my card. When I called customer service they had no record of me buying the MilF, and I had to send them my receipt to show proof. They said they would reprint my card and I might get it by the end of February. Both cards should be tied to the same account so you only hav to keep one. Depending on if you want to display your black card after I would keep both and only use the black card on the special days to get the deals.

I would expect the first Black VIP card deal to appear just after the 60th anniversary promo is done, or at least has been in full swing long enough to be low on stock. One of the most plausible bonuses so far beside additional VIP points might be a DJ polybag.
  • piratemania7piratemania7 Member Posts: 2,146
Ultimately it’s a card like any other which I assume can be reprinted anytime - I doubt it’s a one time thing but the “attachment” to your account stating that you bought the MF within a certain time frame that part I am sure it’s coded to your account.
  • Mr_CrossMr_Cross Member Posts: 1,689
Over on brickfan there is a report of a continuation of the black VIP card... I'm not sure how I feel about that really, on the one hand I think the added incentive of buying #75192 early should remain exclusive but I can see wider arguments too. I won't welcome competition when I'm trying to acquire whatever promotions are available with the black VIP card.
If it does happen, I'm sure it will be a contentious issue for many who bought early mainly on the strength of potential freebies and the inherent FOMO.
  • lee1980lee1980 Member Posts: 42
It wouldn't;t bother me if continued, way things are going probably won't get card until 2020 lol.  I got mine just before Christmas and don't imagine it will stop selling, just think lego didn't think so many would plump down £650 on a set.
  • colaycolay Member Posts: 547
FWIW, having been new-er to the Lego scene over recent years, knowing about the old MF, but not really being able to buy it at its previous price point (and certainly not now) getting the opportunity to buy a new model at a much increased price over the original UCS, getting a card (which got as much publicity as the new MF) does entitle those ppl to exclusive card only holder options. I rang the Lego shops every week to check stock and when they were in, i made a 150 mile round trip to get one. IMO, if ppl wanted one, there was opportunity to get one (not for all, i freely admit) and we had forsight of its price, so ppl could have saved, got it on credit etc etc

I could have gone to Leicester Square to get it opening night, but I was happily seeing Spurs beat Dortmund 3-1, and far better use of my time. Im disappointed i didnt get one on day one, and a more exclusive card, but that was my fault and was happily elsewhere. Like Lego, i didnt forsee it selling out, and when i got up the next day and couldnt get one from [email protected] i was disappointed, but I thought there was no way it would go so quickly, due to the price. At that point, I was like, oh well, itll never be sold out permanently, so I will always be able to get one at some point.

Ive never had, and never will get an exclusive figure from SDCC, but Im not bitter, Im disappointed, but thats life. If I REALLY wanted one, i could go to SDCC, but im not prepared to pay that price.

They made as many as they made, before 31st Dec 2017, and moving the date back, IF, it means there are limited availablity of black card items, wouldnt be fair on those that got before 31st Dec 2017. As I said, whether ppl got on or not cos of stock issues, only so many COULD be made before this date, regardless of how quickly they sold out, there was X amount of MF built, shipped and collected before 31st Dec 2017.

Where do you draw the line? End of Jan? End or Mar? Maybe even another year? It will never be 'fair' in some ppls eyes.

I see that it is available in the UK on the John Lewis site. Is this it’s first availability anywhere other than directly via Lego?

Toys R Us in the US had some a couple of weeks ago on their web site.

The sad part is that even if you went - paying $300 a night for a hotel, $200 for admission, $100 per day for incidentals... you'd still have to queue up for hours for the ability to enter a lottery that you have no guarantee of winning.  That's the part people forget about those SDCC / NYCC specials.  I go to SDCC for work.  I've been almost 10 times now.  I've never gotten a single figure.

It has become a chore now to get the Lego minifigs.  If you're not in line by 9:30am or 10am on certain days, you're not gonna get a chance to get one. It's insane now and it's worse every year.

True story:  A few SDCCs ago, I walked past this massive line that looped out to the main lobby.  I asked someone what they were in line for.  The answer:  "Dude, I don't know, I just saw the line and got in it."

Fun.be and Dreamland.be (two Belgian retail chains specializing in a.o. toys) had/have limited availability of #75192. Real stock as I managed to snag one myself (at a 15% discount even).

Still off topic, but I've never been to SDCC, yet I do have most of the SDCC Super Heroes exclusives. I go to eBay and considering I know the kind of trouble people have to go to to acquire these figures, I'm fully prepared to pay the going rates.

Maybe a dumb question, but how are you supposed to open the cockpit once this thing is put together?

You're not  without pulling the cockpit cone to bits. You can improve on the pretty empty cockpit design though.

    Hey guys,
update on the first Benefits of the Black VIP-Card: https://www.promobricks.de/doppelte-lego-vip-punkte-auf-star-wars-sets-im-gesamten-februar/52875
It says double VIP Points on SW Items in February! Well, what a awesome Promo...NOT!
But kinda expected something like that!
  • gmonkey76gmonkey76 Member Posts: 1,831
Anyone get an email on that? Tried it in the U.S. and I'm getting double points on Vader, and the headless AT-ST. I'm getting no double points on other Star Wars sets. Also got no email on promotion. I'm signed in, and bought the MilF day one in store.
  • Yo_dAYo_dA Member Posts: 97
^Well this is disappointing.  I really hope that Black VIP card benefits get better than double points on some of the least desirable sets of 2018.
  • MaffyDMaffyD Member Posts: 3,535

^ I wonder if they had to rethink the benefits of the black card after they found out how ludicrously popular the new MilF was? Maybe you should've all got half-price SW for the whole year, but they couldn't take that kind of hit now...

Ok, maybe not THAT good a deal, but you know what I mean.

Some updates from Promobricks' article. There's 2 separate promotions :

    1. 2x VIP on #75534 and #75201 as part of the usual monthly 2x VIP on 2 selected sets. Nothing to do with our black cards.
    2. 2x VIP on all SW sets for black card holders. Works only in store right now (confirmed by readers who bought SW sets in store). No word yet whether this will also be online.
Fingers crossed we'll get some better actions than this.

If these deals remain in-store only that is going to really suck for a lot of people. Their website is not known for its quality so perhaps it will begin to work later in the week. Presumably they will build up to better rewards toward the end of the program. No need to get disappointed yet.

There's nothing outside the UCS range that I would buy from my local Lego store - there's always somewhere a lot cheaper.

A non-promotion for me. Hopefully something a bit more exclusive will be on offer for May 4th.

Getting double VIP points on all Star Wars purchases is in essence a good idea (because I deliberately haven't purchased many sets for a wave or two) - I mean at least it's something rather than nothing...

However, IN STORE ONLY?! I live absolutely nowhere near one and the cost and time taken to travel to Leicester Square totally negates the 2xVIP promotion. "Hey, I see you've come all the way to Leicester Square today as a 'VIP' customer, here's £5 off a future purchase" doesn't really cut it for me.

Hopefully, the 2xVIP will go live online and we'll get something else that's more interesting soon. I'm pretty sure in the terms and conditions it said the promos were valid from January but we had nothing at all in January so maybe "you will receive exclusive benefits February-December 2018".

Couldnt a future promo be a fairly significant sum off a Star Wars set that is slightly older or noticeably less popular? I wouldn't mind The Arrowhead reduced from £85 to £50 for example.

^^^ Ooh! Looks like Lego [email protected] lags behind a bit then so I'm going to have to eat my words!

So we can expect an 'exclusive contest' that may or may not be another way to earn the platinum R2-D2, the DJ polybag (I called it!) and, erm, a heavy First Order Stormtrooper? Exclusive access suggests early releases. Let the speculation begin!

If here was a nice new UCS set to buy then I'd be happy, but apart from BB8 and the bounty hunter pack, I haven't bought system scale set for ages. They are too expensive these days. (Or should I say, bad value)

I haven't received my card and purchased in store on 9/27. LEGO rep says I am on the list of getting one and I received the VIP email today. Anyone from the US in the same boat?
