If it does happen, I'm sure it will be a contentious issue for many who bought early mainly on the strength of potential freebies and the inherent FOMO.
I could have gone to Leicester Square to get it opening night, but I was happily seeing Spurs beat Dortmund 3-1, and far better use of my time. Im disappointed i didnt get one on day one, and a more exclusive card, but that was my fault and was happily elsewhere. Like Lego, i didnt forsee it selling out, and when i got up the next day and couldnt get one from [email protected] i was disappointed, but I thought there was no way it would go so quickly, due to the price. At that point, I was like, oh well, itll never be sold out permanently, so I will always be able to get one at some point.
Ive never had, and never will get an exclusive figure from SDCC, but Im not bitter, Im disappointed, but thats life. If I REALLY wanted one, i could go to SDCC, but im not prepared to pay that price.
They made as many as they made, before 31st Dec 2017, and moving the date back, IF, it means there are limited availablity of black card items, wouldnt be fair on those that got before 31st Dec 2017. As I said, whether ppl got on or not cos of stock issues, only so many COULD be made before this date, regardless of how quickly they sold out, there was X amount of MF built, shipped and collected before 31st Dec 2017.
Where do you draw the line? End of Jan? End or Mar? Maybe even another year? It will never be 'fair' in some ppls eyes.
Toys R Us in the US had some a couple of weeks ago on their web site.
You're not without pulling the cockpit cone to bits. You can improve on the pretty empty cockpit design though.
update on the first Benefits of the Black VIP-Card: https://www.promobricks.de/doppelte-lego-vip-punkte-auf-star-wars-sets-im-gesamten-februar/52875
It says double VIP Points on SW Items in February! Well, what a awesome Promo...NOT!
But kinda expected something like that!
^ I wonder if they had to rethink the benefits of the black card after they found out how ludicrously popular the new MilF was? Maybe you should've all got half-price SW for the whole year, but they couldn't take that kind of hit now...
Ok, maybe not THAT good a deal, but you know what I mean.
- 2x VIP on #75534 and #75201 as part of the usual monthly 2x VIP on 2 selected sets. Nothing to do with our black cards.
- 2x VIP on all SW sets for black card holders. Works only in store right now (confirmed by readers who bought SW sets in store). No word yet whether this will also be online.
Fingers crossed we'll get some better actions than this.A non-promotion for me. Hopefully something a bit more exclusive will be on offer for May 4th.
Really hope they can find their promo-mojo, because it feels like they barely tried with this first one.
However, IN STORE ONLY?! I live absolutely nowhere near one and the cost and time taken to travel to Leicester Square totally negates the 2xVIP promotion. "Hey, I see you've come all the way to Leicester Square today as a 'VIP' customer, here's £5 off a future purchase" doesn't really cut it for me.
Hopefully, the 2xVIP will go live online and we'll get something else that's more interesting soon. I'm pretty sure in the terms and conditions it said the promos were valid from January but we had nothing at all in January so maybe "you will receive exclusive benefits February-December 2018".
Couldnt a future promo be a fairly significant sum off a Star Wars set that is slightly older or noticeably less popular? I wouldn't mind The Arrowhead reduced from £85 to £50 for example.
But excludes the MF.. like we can buy another one, when we have already brought one via VIP..
“Double Points offer is valid on VIP purchases from 01/02/2018 to 28/02/2018. Merchandise totals calculated after VIP Point redemption; any applicable taxes, shipping charges, or value of gift cards purchased do not apply to merchandise totals. Cannot be applied to previous purchases or combined with any other discount, offer or free gift. The LEGO Group reserves the right to cancel or modify this promotion at any time without prior notice. VIP Membership required. Double Points promotion excludes the Millennium Falcon™ (75192)”
So we can expect an 'exclusive contest' that may or may not be another way to earn the platinum R2-D2, the DJ polybag (I called it!) and, erm, a heavy First Order Stormtrooper? Exclusive access suggests early releases. Let the speculation begin!
