I agree the set doesn't look like it has this function, but that is apparently what it will do in the film.

my bet is that, lego was givion a image and no info on why it was filled in.
so in the build it was made a part of the main ship. and not cargo pods!

There are too many star wars fans that work for LEGO that would be dorky enough to know the difference. My guess is Disney sucks at star wars :)

I would hope so, since the Han Solo film is supposedly releasing this spring, even though there's been almost nothing released about it yet (including a trailer!)
Spring - that's crazy to me.  I thought they were sticking to Christmas releases for the SW movies.  (So as not to conflict with Marvel, Pixar and Live-Action releases.)

I'm not sure why they would want to compete with themselves.

^i read somewhere that it was to coincide with the anniversary of Star Wars. Given the problems they've had with directors etc I thought they'd hold off til the end of the year

Yeah, not quite six months to release and I haven't even seen a teaser.  So weird.

Plus, it'll be in the very long shadow of Infinity War.

I'd prefer to know less about the film, but given the Disney marketing blitz for their tentpole films, it is very odd that there is no buzz or advance info.

And, I'd rather see SW at Christmas anyway...

^Could it be any worse than The Last Jedi?

I would love a look at Rogue One's Dark cut before Disney execs ordered the reshoot.

I've seen both the leaked promotional materials and the Lego sets and I must say I'm a fan of the Falcon as portrayed in the film. Seeing that page in the Haynes manual makes me even more excited.

From the leaked at pictures its quite clear its a normal set, not a UCS set. And that's ok with me. Plenty of modding opportunity with #75192. :)

Um, yes.  I can think of many ways it could be worse that TLJ.

As would I.  I'd like to see how they would have explained everyone surviving.  But then immediately disappearing before Episode IV.

Which reminds me that I want to see a SW Daredevil / SW Punisher mini-movie.

Oh, man, @SumoLego, I've been afraid of some crazy Star Wars crossover ever since Disney/Marvel/etc acquired Fox.

My heart and head aren't ready for that.

Looking at the pictures further I do believe the Falcon in the movie is using the long canon cargo container in the center - but that the set is designed weirdly and instead treating it as part of the hull. Odd.

The Han Solo movie is shaping up to be a disaster from everything that I’ve read.  After seeing the leaked images of the falcon I’m fearing the worst.

On a semi related-unrelated note. I have no reason to believe Solo will be anything but enjoyable. Hot take done

I'm hopeful Donald Glover will redeem it. And Chewbacca.

I know it's not the exact same - but Ewan McGregor as Obi Wan was such a stellar performance of a beloved character to me I have hope they can do younger versions well. Obviously there's a much much more significant age gap - but Im willing to give our new Solo the benefit of the doubt. Id rather he capture the feel of the character than a straight impression.

And yes - Donald Glover is always a treat

I didn't mean an actual crossover.  I colloquially refer to Chirrut Imwe as 'SW Daredevil', and Baze Malbus as 'SW Punisher'.

The new one does look to have a similar build to #75105 I'm hoping that it will be fairly easy to modify the front mandibles to the 75105 version and then create a new cargo container that will fit between the mandibles.

Having seen the images from the book posted earlier, the new look of the falcon doesn't grate on me as much. It would be quite cool if one of the offers with the black VIP card was a 500 piece detachable cargo unit for the front mandibles.

What are LEGO then going to do for the next UCS Falcon release? ;)

My thoughts exactly! You can't have Han Solo without Harrison Ford. It's just not possible!

Thats interesting. Based on what I have seen is that the Southwest and the Northwest still haven't gotten their cards but apparently Hawaii did?

Question for the group: Back in November i got an email saying my Black VIP card wouldn’t arrive at the end of the month. Well here we are in January and still no card. Checked with Lego.com and they have the correct address for me. Before I start hassling customer services has this happened to anyone else?
  • bandit778bandit778 Member Posts: 2,398
    @MrKettle
I would check with customer services, I got my Falcon early November and although I had no notification of getting the card I have received mine already.

I had previously e-mailed customer services in December about the card and was told that I was in the second batch of cards to be processed and that it would arrive by the end of January.

They have really botched this Black VIP card thing. I bought one on release day. No email and no card yet. One of the guys in line with me has gotten his already (he did get an email).

I get catalogs in my mail, and promotions in my email. When I contacted customer service they weren’t able to tell me much, other than I was in the list.

^That's the same for me, but when I call customer service they tell me there is no list to check. They say if I was able to buy one I will get the card. I get mail amd email from LEGO, but nothing on my black card. Guess I'll call in the morning and see what excuse they give me this time.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they are having more trouble keeping up with the VIP cards than with the MF sets themselves. At least producing sets is something they have an existing highly automated process for. The personalized VIP cards are a new thing and they obviously thought it would be a low volume item.
  • monstblitzmonstblitz Member Posts: 653
Received mine last week.  I'm in VA if that helps.  Hopefully everyone gets theirs soon so they next think we can piss and moan about is when the benefits of having the card will start, and whether or not they are worth a damn.

Mine (which finally arrived last Friday) wasn't bent at all, but did have a tiny rip (about a centimeter) on the top left corner. I think it's up to the mail carrier.
