The BendyBadger Substitute Bonusball Bonanza for UK Lottery Draw 04 March 2017

It's that time again, when everyone checks the forum often so they won't miss this week's Brickset Bonus Bonanza!

A little background, on the question I have chosen, might be helpful.  At the end of March, I will be the guest speaker at a Cub Scout (young Boy Scouts) Blue and Gold Banquet.  These boys have chosen LEGO as the theme.  At the end of my speech, I plan to ask the boys to write their answer to a question, and I will post the results.  I thought it would be fun to also post the results to the same question asked of AFOL'S on this forum

The question:
If TLG could produce just 1 theme of sets next year, and they asked everyone to vote for "the one theme you cannot live without" what theme would you vote to have?

This week's winner can choose a poly from the basket of polys I have accumulated to give to the boys when they turn in their answer.

Good Luck everyone, and thanks for your help.  :-)

PS  We miss you @bendybadger, and hope all is well with you!

Ideas. As it is the only theme that is likely to produce sets on the Walking Dead, which I so much crave!

Monster Fighters or Lord of the Rings, both retired now :(

In terms of current themes I guess it'd have to be Nexo Knights. Really grown to like that theme.

I've been buying a lot of Elves on discount lately, and I have to say, I enjoy what's going on in those sets. Having missed out on LotR, I am really moving toward this fantasy setting.

Nexo Knights - As the current LEGO big bang theme, it brings new parts to the party, (a lot of which are used in modular buildings) aswell as cool vehicles, monsters and this summer, Knighton Castle. With a big bang theme doing well it brings more options/possibilities to every other theme, so although I have a fondness for modulars and creator, I pick Nexo Knights.

Plus, Castle has always been my favourite theme. :o)
    Thank-you Daniel Krentz, RIP.

I would have to be another vote for Star Wars sets as that has been the biggest influence on my spending habits since coming back to the hobby.
As they wouldn't be doing anything else, I would expect those sets to cover other aspects of the hobby. (Technic Ships, Modular Mos Eisley, Coruscant City sets, Fun in the Death Star Minifigure pack and of course find the Mr Gold Stormtrooper CMF range). :)

My heart says Star Wars but I'm not sure if it's broad enough for everyone's taste. So it would have to be the creator buckets were your imagination does the work.

I'd retire all current themes and have them bring back only the Adventures theme.

If it's extinct themes, I'd go for Castle.  If we're talking current themes being continued, it would be either Star Wars or the Modular Buildings.

Kudos to the Brickset community for continuing @bendybadger 's legacy and the best of luck to said Badger...

I'm doing a lego talk/build at my son's beavers group too. Not sure if I'm looking forward to it or not!

City. I'm surprisingly into it again all of a sudden, and I think that if they weren't doing anything else then City would include a lot of the kind of stuff that currently happens in Creator, Friends etc.

I think I'd have to go with Creator theme as it's really what drew me back to Lego after so many years.

That or the Brickheadz theme... :P

Definitely Technic. Love the advanced vibes that it gives off. Super Heroes(Marvel) is a close second.
  • ricecakericecake Member Posts: 878
I would go for Ninjago, as I love giant Asian mechs and robots.

While I don't buy much of now I would have to be star wars. They could do regular, usc, technic, city, even train all under the star wars banner

Creator Expert. Nice variation of sets, play value, but looks equally good as a display piece.

And thanks @Legogram for organising this week's bonusball!

DC super heroes are my favorite, but by now they are just making the same characters over and over again.  So my pick would be the Modular buildings!

Creator..there's buildungs, cars, tractors....it's a bit like going back to the basics of Lego

Really good question and really struggling to choose.  But will go with Architecture.  I wouldn't expect it would get much love, but I'm really enjoying the whole experience right now.  Instructions are great and models are interesting and easy to display.

Speed Champions, gotta have more super cars and racing cars. not to mention the new pieces that line keeps bringing are great for MOCs of almost all sizes. so many little detail pieces introduced through that theme in the last couple years.

Ditto Mr Teal and his ninety-three 2's.  DC Super Heroes with a focus on BATMAN!

Creator is the line that amazes me every time and showcases the designers' best, in my opinion.

    Star Wars for me also.
I know, I know rehashes and inflated price points but Star Wars is just bloody cool.

Indiana Jones if it could make a successful come back (here's hoping for a wave when the new film is to be released). :-D

That's a difficult but great question... I think I'm going with creator as well, lots of different kinds of builds, love the 3 in 1s. If we include retired ones, LOTR is the one for me.

Good luck with the speech and the bonus ball. I've got one more volunteer lined up for next week, thanks all for helping out.

Creator Expert.  Always could use a new Modular Building and hopefully it would force a new train and carnival ride.

Hobbit/Lord of the Rings for runner up.  Too many missed opportunities not to want more sets.

A good western theme with saloon and town full buildings not just facades. Native American village and Calvary fort. Steam engine train with power functions.

I would say super heroes as the as the one I can't live without, but we have been getting lots of that but other than Lone Ranger we have not had much western based themes.

Star Wars does not make my list because it gets rehashed so much that I don't buy as much of it anymore.

I also would need my yearly modular building.
