Just thought we could have a general thread about the event that starts tomorrow

Where all the new LEGO sets are presented but none of us get to see them!

When can we see something to do with the speculated city jungle theme?

I would assume LEGO's new wave of sets for the year. Most of them.

No press will be attending the event, only buyers. I therefore doubt that any information will be released as it has been in past years.

Lot's of summer LEGO City set pictures already leaked (preliminaries), so Jungle could leak any day now.

^Is it the set with the plane crash site,  ruins and three vehicles? I'm just glad one of them is a helicopter.

Will be interesting to see if the bear remains or is a stand-in for a new animal mold. A jungle cat seems much more suited to the theme.

Certain bears are jungle dwellers, not grizzlies though.

Reminds me of the Monty Python Tiger in Africa joke.

I'm assuming that there is no access for Brickset folks to go spying on other lines for me is there?

4chan is awful on mobile. Found the picture though. Confirmed it has nothing I want, so far. But it's really trying - that old aeroplane looks really atmospheric! And the plants...

Am I right in thinking that there's only been two rumours to come out of the Toy Fair today; the City set and the Star Wars Advent Calendar?
  • CapnRex101CapnRex101 United KingdomAdministrator Posts: 2,291
@rdflego - Press are not permitted to enter the LEGO stand so we won't be hearing any rumours from the toy fair this year. The images which are doing the rounds originate from a retailer catalogue.

There's going to be a SW advent calendar? That's a shock.

    Update:

Star Wars and Super Heroes were not there because LEGO is getting 'frustrated with leaks'

Yeah it is really out of control this year. It is one thing for the March sets to be uncovered but I don't remember summer sets like the Elves and Nexo stuff, not to mention advent calendars, leaking as early as January before. Usually the toy fairs are the first sniff at any of that stuff.

Does this mean that they will not be at the Nuremberg Toy Fair either ? And what about the NY Toy Fair?

I think this is a good idea, even from a fan's perspective.

Look back at some previous London Toy Fair reports. Descriptions of what people remember about partially complete sets they saw, with stand in plain or generic minfigures. I'd rather wait for lego to officially release images when ready, rather than have second hand descriptions of sets that were not complete or ready. Also there have been some people covertly photographing or videoing them and then releasing the footage online, and we know this can lead to fakers getting their versions out before the official release date for LEGO.

I think a certain customizing Delta could be to blame.. but who knows
  • MattDawsonMattDawson Solihull, UKMember Posts: 1,218
I think the easiest thing would be to replace catalogues with price lists, with maybe a few interspersed images or 'stats' tables, with images being already released items featured in the catalogue or only available via a video loop at special events with restrictions on photography.

I am not an expert of course, but all the leaks are possible only from inside, so if the LEGO is so frustrating by them, why don't they fire the employees who did it...

^ How would they know who did it? They won`t fire 100 guys, cause one of the leaked something...
  • CM4SCM4S United StatesMember Posts: 1,363
There were two pictures of some Star Wars sets at a private show I don't think any of us were supposed to know exists posted online about a month ago.. I don't imagine it was that hard to track down who took those and fire them..

It seems most of the leaks are from retailer catalogs, no?

I wonder if the next Technic supercar will be revealed at one of the future toy fairs like the porsche with the black and white stickers or if it will only be revealed when its a completed model with the official press release.

Just finished building the porsche and found it to be an excellent build, can't wait to see what follows!

I think the ban on media at this year's Toy Fair could well be because last year Lego ordered sites to take down their news because it was all embargoed (this information definitely wasn't given at the Fair, though). I know BrickFanatics and Brickset were asked to take material down.

There's been previous years when the super secret stuff was hidden behind curtains only the big retailers could get a look at anyway, but I don't think anything leaked then.

The official line was that they have a smaller stall this year so wanted to focus more on their retailers. This is true - they had a much smaller space upstairs on the balcony.
  • DougTemplarDougTemplar Edinburgh, ScotlandMember Posts: 597
What surprises me in all of this is why LEGO need to show anything at all to Major Retailers etc - they are likely to buy it whatever it is surely.

Maybe the secrecy is due to them having nothing substantial to show (Attack on Endor UCS, comprised of lots of little sets we've seen before. ;) - I hope not.

    You are correct ;)

Attack on Endor would be fine as long as we didn't get an Ewok set the same time!
  • SumoLegoSumoLego New YorkMember Posts: 13,261
I suppose an Attack on Endor wouldn't have any Ewoks or notable Rebel Alliance members.  Just two guys with a blaster...
