Hi-res images up on the mainpage. So many cool details and building techniques! It looks like black meat cleavers in the front of the classic Mini for part of the wheel wells?!

Just spotted the printed Ferrari badges on the F40.  Nice to see even as sticker-heavy a range as SC doesn't expect you to put one on the edge of a 1x1 plate.

Looks like they did something similar on the #75890 Camaro with “Chevrolet” behind the rear fenders. Or is that a really skinny sticker?

^Certainly looks that way to me.

This just popped up on McLaren's FB page....
....we've already seen photos of the finished Senna , quite fancy a street camo version though!

If you look at 75893, there appears to be two extra wheels right above the two extra 5 spokes next to the Challenger Demon. I dunno if those are new, but it seems to be a reference to the $1 Demon crate, which contains very thin wheels for the drag focused Challenger Demon.

The Charger also has the option of a stock hood if you don’t want the blown engine look, and it has its own sets of rims. The torso the Charger’s minifigure driver is actually very good, as you can use it as a any regular torso because it can pass as the minifigure being a big Dodge/Mopar fan.

Those look like they're inserts to make the regular tires into drag slicks. Look at the back of The Demon, and on the Camaro.

I'm going to need a couple of the Dodge torso just for the reason you said.

It's good to se them incorporating actual rear windows in their designs more instead of relying on stickers. I've been modifying my sets with the method used on the Ford GT40 or a 4217722.

Heads up: LEGO has the five sets listed on their online store. Release date is the 1st, but they might show up early in certain stores due to the holiday season.

I wrote this up a few weeks ago but guess didn't hit post...
    Mynatt said:
...As for Mini, I would love to see them possibly follow the rally image from the WRC Ford Fiesta last year. I would especially look forward to a Mini Countryman....

Well, I am extremely pleased with the outcome. Here I was expecting only one mini but ended up with two! I am a bit surprised that the red Dakar mini (in green) was the final choice instead of the rally Countryman as I would have figured the Countryman Mini would have been much more recognizable instead of the,

     "Paperballpark said:
Very weird Mini Buggy thing in the Mini set though.

That aside, I’m so glad the real star of the set is the classic mini. Especially glad that they chose the one that raced in Monte Carlo. This past September I was even able to photograph replicas of this Mini at a classic car show.

The classic Mini Cooper has been the dream car of mine for many years now. Well, if I can't quite get a real one, I am more than fine with settling with the Creator Expert Mini and now this Speed Champions Mini.

Look forward to making many of these in different colors and to have the newer pieces become more available in the future. Would love to have a series of Italian Job Mini Coopers.

While I am not 100% sure on this, I think the female driver of the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon in #75893 may be based on NHRA Factory Stock Showdown Champion and Top Fuel race winner Leah Pritchett.

Yesterday I built the Ferrari F-40 and Chevy Camaro. Great, fun builds. I really like the stock car wheels on the Camaro.

Went to Toy Planet, Wantage yesterday and found some used sets he'd just got in, that I didn't have, and/or had only one of but were still boxed. Picked up:

    #75193 Ferrari Garage/truck
    #75876 Porsche Pit Lane
    #75875 Hot Rod
    #75912 Porsche Finish Line
    #75874 Chevy Drag

All have no boxes or instructions, and a few stickers not applied brilliantly, but hey. Out of curiosity, what value would you put on the above, used and no boxes?

Was pleased, as I went in to sell a Pop Box Set that I didn't really have a need for (collecting Lego is enough lol) and we did what I feel was a great trade, especially as my Pop set looks like it had increased in value, and they have a number of collectors who use them for rarer Pop items.

Still need to get the new SC sets, but will await a drop in price as wat them all, but am concerned at the big mini, lol

Thank you LEGO for making my dream car. One simple change to the front,  and you can change the 70 Charger to a 69. Can't wait to make a whole bunch of 68 to 70s.

It’s possible. LEGO seems to base the driver minifigures off of real drivers, hence the 488 GT3’s driver.

Anyway, while I haven’t built the stand/gate build of the Mini set yet....

This is a good variety for only five sets

There aren't many cars in this release that I won't get.

I picked up the F40 just yesterday.  Fun little build!

The Mini packs are definitely on my list.

And I'll probably end up getting 2 of the Charger/Challenger sets.  I need some nice black fenders to rework my classic Camaro.  (Among other pieces.)

I’m still wondering if a second wave for 2019 is coming. I absolutely love the fact the release date for thid wave was much earlier than it does previous waves, but doesn’t it seem a bit peculiar as well? It’s cool, but also seemingly strange to do if you’re only planning one wave for 2019. It’s circumstantial at best, but an earlier release alongside every other theme that will get a second wave of sets in the summer may indicate that we aren’t done with 2019 Speed Champions quite yet.

Regardless, I do think the theme will continue. They’ve put too much into this for it to be axed.

Stickers are the only thing I dislike about these cars.
Unfortunately TLG will not absorb the cost of printing all the bricks for each car.

So I will continue to have generic cars, by building my cars without applying the stickers.

^ I did the same with the 68 Mustang and it looks much better without the stickers in my opinion, thought the white stripe on the side looks odd unless you replace the pieces.

I wish more people would see this from a MOC builder’s perspective, because too many specific prints would render normally useable parts useless outside that one car. I would much rather have the option to leave stickers off than have super specific prints that render a part unusable for MOC building. Grills and other general stuff would work, but race car liveries are often specific to that one car. If one were to try and covert into a road car, so many parts would have to replaced, plus those parts could not be used with anything else.

That being said, I wish 1x1 tiles were printed like the 1x1 round tiles.

I meant that I wish they would do it more. Sometimes, they print it. Sometimes, they don’t.

Still don't want to pay that much for the Mini Cooper and a ton of spare parts that can be built into some other car which is also called a 'mini'. Plus other stuff. If any model would do well if it was changed into a single set (like the Porsche was) it is that Mini.

^ I'm the same; I'd love the Mini on its own. I've even thought of buying the set and selling what I don't want, but I can't imagine anyone wanting the buggy on it's own.

I bought the double Porsche set for the green 911, then Lego released the single one, so I'm hoping the same thing happens again.

I did succumb to the Dodge set though, as two decent cars for £23 can't be bad.

I hope that two minifigs can be seated next to each other in the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY!
Hope this will become the new standard for all City cars too. The modular #10260 includes this really cool Cadillac convertible with room for 2 minifigs next to one another, and it is something that bugs me about so many other cars including the Speed Champions, that they are all single seat minifig cars.
I bought some Speed Champions sets, because I like them, but at the same time I feel like the Porsche, Ford Mustang etc. etc. should all have been designed to seat two figures.
I really like the colour scheme of the Jags, and for what I can tell from the pics the sets looks nice.
    -What do you all think?
Good or Bad changing the width of all cars to accommodate two minifigs to be seated next to each other in cars that are supposed to offer room for two people seated next to eachother?
    I am all for it!
-Have any of you MOC'ed them into wider cars for this purpose?

For me it's all about the Formula E car, first time we've seen one of those in Lego form and shows just how quickly the series is growing and how it's already an integral part of motorsport. It'll be interesting to see how well this set sells, and what demand there may be for further Formula E sets, especially as we've not had an F1 set for a couple of years now.

It's a matter of width.  Recent Lego City vehicles have been 6 wide and that just doesn't allow enough room for 2 minifigs to sit side-by-side.  7 wide would probably do it but Lego typically doesn't do odd sized widths.  That means jumping to 8 wide.  This impacts City layouts because you need wider lanes in your streets to accommodate the wider vehicles.  I believe the current road plates are designed for 6 wide vehicles.
