Hi Jon! Welcome aboard! I will probably not be the last person to tell you (and probably not the first either) that if you're into Lego skylines, there's a Chicago set due out very soon, number #21033. Just fyi.

Also, I lived in Chicago one summer - loved the city, really nice place and people. Hopefully you'll enjoy being a member here - we are just as nice as most Chicagoans!

    I'm fairly sure that's a compliment...

I'll take it as a compliment, I don't offend easy anyhow. I don't considermyself a Chicagoian since I'm originally from Florida, we live in Lake County,  and I only moved up here to keep my wife happy when I retired from the Navy.

Thanks for the heads up about the skyline. Not really my thing but just might grab one for the desk at work.

I primarily focus on Star Wars Rebels sets. In the past I collected  the entire Alien Conquest and Dino themes. Still have them partly assembled in zip lock bags in a box. Except for the convention exclusives I have the entire Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (sets based on the cartoon not movie). we have some other sets out of other themes but with the exception of Minecraft most have been pulled apart and used in MOCs by either me or my son.

Welcome! Taxes are fairly high here, but overall most of the city is a nice place. There's a lot of things to do and sights to see in the city, and I hope you like it here.

Welcome.  One of the best things about Chicago from a Lego perspective is that there are 4 Lego stores within an hour drive and the Legoland Discovery Center in Schaumburg.

Trust me I'm all to familiar with the Lego Stores and Discovery Center. We've been living up here in Lake Zurich for a little over a year and I was stationed at Great Lakes from 2009 to 2012. I wish the Lego store at the Gurnee Mall had been open when I was stationed there. My wife worked at Legoland Chicago until a month ago.

^ You know, that must've been subliminal. I didn't think about it at the time!
