    My top sets for 2016
    1. 76057 - Spider-Man: Web Warriors Ultimate Bridge Battle - fun build, massive, many play futures, great minifigure selection. Structure is so impressive, I would consider placing it in the same scene as a modular.
    2. 10251 - Brick Bank - very detailed modular
    3. 76052 - Batman Classic TV Series - Batcave - bought, but haven't built. Looks fun though.

maybe an Annual Brickset Brickademy Awards?
    Ooo, I like that idea!

In the above, I was struggling with things like "best concept", "most innovative", "best functionality", "highest quality design", and "most comprehensive". But it'd be easy to add other categories like "best minifig", "best new theme/subtheme", "best value", and more.

Big Ben tops my list, followed by Fun in the Park, but I can't think of a third. And yes, I do have the Brick Bank, but it doesn't quite scream 'top set' to me.

On the other hand, I do really like the Penguin Suit boy and the little penguin figure that comes with the photographer.

one of the problem with choosing the best sets is that I will build many of my 2016 sets in 2017. the best deals are right at the end of the year.

Yeah but I don't think one has to build a set to have an opinion. Is it the best opinion you could have? No. But I guarantee you that the Academy members don't se every film they vote on.

There's room for both, and certainly items like

Best Overall Set - Star Wars, Friends, Ninjago, etc
    Best Set Over $200
    Best Set Under $30
    Best Seasonal Item

Thing is...we should have started this a few weeks ago!
