I have so wanted to hurry and finish my Green Grocer Bricklink order, but life has been getting in the way and I haven't had time to myself....so I am latch hooking a rug while I am waiting. At least it's productive lol
Now back to the Latch Hooking lol.
I've always had my eye on the #3450 Statue of Liberty set (my dream set), but never pulled the trigger since I wanted a good price. Two years later, it finally happened (just a few minutes ago).
I'll be standing at the end of my driveway each day until it comes!!
Well I did get three ploybags with the Daily Mail, six Simpsons minifigures and Power Mech for my college work. But still: not one actual Lego set that I brought for my own desires :(
On the bright side I have kept my 2014 news year resolution, partly. I said I would not purchase any regular retail sets until Christmas sales and that I would purchase the Lego exclusives sets, Lego Ideas and Lego Minifigures that interest me throughout the year. Well I done a pretty good job not spending much: £25 so far.
I miss building new sets so bad...
...5 months...
Edit: error in finger control unit
(Disclaimer: I am guesstimating a bit, using a sales tax rate of 10% and an exchange rate of 1.6 USD per GBP as a basis).
Edit (returning to thread): Just remembered why I came here: It's not Lego related, but to say 'dancing around living room to The Doors'.
When I have finished it, I'll place a picture here. I have written out meticulous records of everything I bought and what the postage costs were. So I'll add a price with and without postage as well. Thank you OCD.
I know this has been bought over time so the price hasnt been that noticeable, not like paying an up front price. I know it is more that it's original price, but a lot less than the going price for these now. So I'm happy with what I've paid for, plus it's easier to afford by. Bricklinking it.
I bulked the back of the torso up too to make it more bulky like the film version, and I changed the elbow construction from click hinges to click joints typically used in other mechs.
However, I do really love the look of the set overall, Angry Emmet and Angry Kitty are brilliant minifigures and the mech looks really menacing while keeping the good guy aesthetic. I also really love the mixing drums on the back, as well as the cockpit and the cranes.
Overall, I do recommend the set, but there are flaws that you might want to mod.
(yesterday)
Happy belated hope-you-got-some-sets-you-wanted day.
This weekend I'm excited, if not little daunted, to finally start work on the 10179 which has been patiently waiting for an AFOL touch for over a month :)
I am waiting on my PR in the mail, I bought my daughter a LOTR set at the same time, and hers was shipped first. So now I have to wait a bit longer...I might rebuild my haunted House and. Fire Brigade again...lol
But, as they say, everything is awesome!
