Got my #10240 built. Quite boring in the build if you've already build a system one - built exactly the same way but bigger scale (unlike system MF and UCS MF, which couldn't be any different to build). Looks good when finished (although I haven't applied any stickers), but the wings appear a little short in proportion when compared to the system set - I will have to watch Star Wars again to determine whether the UCS or system version is closest to "reality".

A few of the bricks early on in the build (the body behind the cockpit) had quite poor clutch, and my main sticker set has wrinkled edges :(.

Some people here or on Eurobricks moaned that the pose on the stand wasn't great and they wanted a "take-off" pose. This is easily achievable by moving one set of technic beams along one hole at the base to have the X-wing pointing up at about 25 degrees without compromising the balance of the ship on the stand (it actually improves it)

Well I thought I was terribly spoiled yesterday after receiving a batcave, battle of smallville, an unexpected gathering, wizard battle and council of elrond as well as a yoda watch, a joker alarm clock and some lovely key chains.

But then today my lovely husband took me out and bought me the goblin king, creator seaside house, black zero escape, riddles of the ring and attack of the wargs.

I feel thoroughly spoiled and I have a huge build pile to get through, now let the building commence!

"She wasn't talking to you." ;o) My son's favourite line right now when I say 'pardon'.

I can honestly say I am very happy despite not receiving a single LEGO set for Christmas. It means my family and friends are finally listening when I tell them it's a waste to be paying rrp (or above) on the High Street when they're available elsewhere for a fraction.

It also means I don't receive something I already have......which is more likely to be the case. ;o)

Built the Ewok Village last night.

Oh my god, those railings. Just why? They were an absolute pain to get right....

@Wil348 - Absolutely right. I am not exaggerating when I say that I spent over an hour trying to get those railings fixed properly the first time, and since then I have probably spent another hour in total adjusting them!

About an hour for me too. Even now, they still don't look right, but since the Ewok Village in RoTJ does sort of look rugged, I guess I can afford to have it a little off.

    @Wil348 & @CapnRex 101
The Ewok Village was my "elf yourself" Christmas present from Mr. Klatu. It took all day Christmas and most of last evening. Fun build, but the railings are tricky. I'm glad you young people had trouble too, 'cause they were making me feel old and clumsy fingered.

It is a beautiful set and has lots of fun play features.

Now, I want to use the design to make Caras Galadhon in Lothlórien!

Is being a piece monkey for our 6 year old son while he builds #79103 Turtle Lair and I could not be happier!
Seeing him building the kit and even doing the stickers himself is just amazing :D

You're letting yoir 6-year old do the stickers? Something very wrong with that! :-P

Pretty excited. Found a tower of orthanc on clearance at target. Wahoo
  • LegobutterflyLegobutterfly Member Posts: 488
Not at all @Legoboy, he is very skilled at sticker application.
He was shown the first time how to line them up with the piece and he does it every time now and 9 times out of 10 puts them on better than I could!

And before you get sarky James, I am good at sticker application :-)

@Legobutterfly. As good as you might be, I can't believe you let your 6-year old loose with craft knives? It is afterall the only way to properly apply stickers. ;-)
  • LegobutterflyLegobutterfly Member Posts: 488
No @Legoboy I did not let him loose with a craft knife, he applied them with his little fingers and did a very fine job.
And I myself do not use craft knives and my stickers applications look good, just cos you can't apply stickers for toffee don't go casting aspersions on other people! ;-)

Perhaps the reason his looked great was that I let him lick them all first and then roll them in mud too for good measure......

Phew, as long as all he did. I worried for a moment he might have eaten KFC first.
  • LegobutterflyLegobutterfly Member Posts: 488
No KFC first, but he was eating twiglets and pringles as he built.
  • LegoboyLegoboy Member Posts: 8,827

Watching SW Ep4 with the kids. They're not SW fans. "Oh look Dad. There's that hovercraft LEGO thing I've got."

Yes I agree James it's terrible, my children liking to eat bum flavoured twigs while building, your children not knowing about Star Wars.

    The horror! ;-)

We need to get the schooling syllabus changed. After our generation, the true image of SW is likely to get lost. Our grand-kids will think X-Wing Fighters were covered in studs. :o/

    I despair.

One of the reasons I dumped my ex was that he'd never seen star wars and when I was gonna put it on one night, he didn't wanna watch it :(.

This has actually lead to a thing between my friends called the SW theory: you need to share one major love with your partner

Lego status is built #70804 today, the flying version. The movie sets are a lot of fun.

After visiting a number of local stores over the last 5 days I finally found some 2014 City and Creator sets.

Grabbed a couple of the Emerald Express plus the Creator Monkey, held of on getting any other sets, as these were not discounted.

Monkey isn't built yet but did the train. Cute little build but roof needs to be raised on the engines cab and the carriage needs to be about double the length and a bit higher.

    Lego 31015 Creator Emerald Express

I also found a bunch of Freinds series 1 bags for close to 80% off @ $1.25 each.
