Just ordered FB, my first foray into the modulars. And it is all of your faults for talking about how great they are all the time. Thanks guys.

Hahahahahha that's it. You might as well just place another order.

Really though; that was good. Joke of the day.

    ^ You're not wrong there.

I got suckered into them 2.5 years ago reading on here, "The FB's going to go, the FB's going to go. Quick! Quick!"

@Bumblepants - Any normal person would question our sanity when going after the back catalogue, but I'd have to say, despite currently being No. 2 of my collection after the UCSs, I don't think I'd be wrong in saying that they're likely to overtake before long. UCS are just getting so boring!

Had a great Lego day yesterday it started with a trip to the Sheffield store which was quite busy, but after a nice chat with the staff I bought #10220 camper van after 2 years of thinking it's nice but I'll probably not get it. Also bought minecraft sets for my husband that are now hidden away for Christmas and a few other other things for the children.

Then on to see family and to start my nieces friends collection off I gave them a few sets :) home to find a daily mail poly and a Lego catalogue in the post :)

Finally determined we had a wrong piece early on in set #8284 that drove both hubby and I crazy trying to find out why a later piece wouldn't fit where the instructions indicated. Funny thing . . . He made the mistake the first time, I dismantled every bit and rebuilt it and made the exact same error. It's now correct and on it's way.

I posted some photos from Legoland California's MiniLand taken last Thursday. here is the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/75868658@N06/

You can guess the location using the sign at the end of each build because they loaded backwards on flickr!

Monday I started feeling under the weather, and by Tuesday I knew I wasn't up to going to work so decided to take a sick day. Ended up sleeping all day, and didn't even get to build any lego. Worst sick day ever, should have just went to work... Because everybody knows sick days are lego days right??? right???

I sketched a little picture of what a B.A. Baracus minifig might look like. Yeah, I know, the head is a little bit small.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,556
^ If you use a brickforge mohawk, it makes the head look a bit bigger. I have a custom Clubber Lang minifig somewhere that I used that for. Even though the mohawk is bigger / wider than real life, it looks good.

Sifted through four boxes of series 11 at Walmart today looking for Bavarian Girl, Gramma and Scarecrow and came up with not a one! No Tiki or Jazzman either (glad i found those two early with a blind grab). Did add a few elves but overall quite annoyed at Lego for the new box distribution.

If you make one, please let me know lol. I want it :-)

I wonder how hard it would be to MOC the A-Team Van?

^ These were mainly S1-4, hidden in a box at the back of a drawer.
  • iso3200iso3200 Member Posts: 2,065
^ Still, S1's can't be a bad find. Did you strike it rich with a hoard of Zombies?

Went up to Cribbs Causeway after work and managed to find the minifig with the saxaphone in Smyths Toys. Then went across to Tesco and about halfway through the 3rd box, found the Grandma. They had a load of boxes of minifigs in there that looked still sealed for both series 10 and 11.

Found a Wampa at a flea market today, was very happy until I came home and realized he had holes on the sides of his head... The horns are missing! :(

If anyone has a pair they would like to trade for something, please let me know!

After about 4 weeks of not using much Lego, I finally got around to building with some more Lego!

And fuelled by the prospect of new Hobbit sets arriving soon, I designed my own black (not red) 1600 piece 'UCS' Smaug the dragon to go with them and will be looking forward to Bricklinking it brick by brick when I get some more time/money... :-D

@Gurooo That set isn't too old, might be worth calling S@H and seeing if they can replace them for you. It is licensed though so maybe they can't but it is probably worth a shot.
  • GuroooGurooo Member Posts: 268
@Bumblepants I tried to make an order through s@h but it says they are sold out... perhaps it is worth it to make a call tomorrow, thanks for the advice!

Very cool. I completed getting all 5000+ parts for it but haven't found the time to get started. Really looking forward to it. Although for those buying the instructions now, it may be more difficult as one of the pieces (Reddish Brown Brick, Arch 1 x 6 x 2 - Thick Top with Reinforced Underside) is becoming quite scarce and this build requires 13 of them. Checking Brick Link right now and there are only 18 left altogether.

  • klatu003klatu003 Member Posts: 729
@Renny. Is there an alternate to that part? I was fixing to build this and was waiting to survey my existing parts in another physical location. I already got the instructions.
  • vitreolumvitreolum Member Posts: 1,406
No, there isn't, the alternate Brick, Arch 1 x 6 x 2 - Thin Top without Reinforced Underside was not released in reddish brown.
  • RennyRenny Member Posts: 1,145
@klatu003, like @vitreolum said I don't think there is in the same color. That piece was only available in that color from an old Spiderman set. Not sure why the guy selling the instructions would include so many of one part that was only available in an old retired set while still mass selling the instructions.

It brings up a point though. Is it a builders responsibility to monitor availability of parts for a moc they are selling? I'm sure a lot of folks who buy the instructions may be upset to find out that they cannot build it as designed. Imagine someone discovering this after already buying the majority of the parts?
  • klatu003klatu003 Member Posts: 729
@vitriolum @Renny Thanks for the heads up. I am going to try to get these since I love the model. I suppose another color could be worked into the design. What do you think? Don't think the deigner has any obligation to monitor parts availability.
  • RennyRenny Member Posts: 1,145
@klatu003, I haven't built it yet but from the images it looks like they are primarily used along the outside. They help form the doorways on the front and hold up the smaller pillars on the sides. The designer does use a mix of reddish brown and tan on the outside so you could substitute the colors there (plenty of those available on BL). It may look different but it would at least leverage the same color palette of the building.

Perhaps you can buy at least 3 in reddish brown for the front and get the tan ones for the other sides?

Who would have thought that an oversized box full of over priced shiny metal noise making pipes would have come in handy at some point? Poor Lego.

Maybe not. But it would then be a good idea to let people have the parts list for free so they have the obligation to check that parts are available before purchasing the instructions.

Finally built my Yellow Campervan. Had the yellow pieces for a while, but had to wait for the base van. Happy with it, despite the minor differences in the shades of yellow, also made this one Right Hand Drive.

I think I may need help!
I have more LEGO for Christmas presents for my family in the house than I know what to do with and no room to store what I have let alone more.
So being the LEGO addict that I am I addressed the problem by ordering more, woo hoo!

My bedside table has actually been dismantled and replaced by a S@H shipping box with LEGO gifts in!
