Onto much more unique things these days that has a much less rate of ever being re-released.
As for status, well picked up a BTTF last night at the Lego Store. They had none on the shelf, just happened to ask when they were getting them in. They said they had got a limited amount in and were not placing them on the shelves but would sell them to a person if they asked. They said I got the last one, which I kind of doubt. I think they were just doing it as an official "one per customer". Did not bother me either way, I was happy with one.
btw, my order did not contain the #41999 or #21103 that everybody's so hyped about, personally I must be one of those AFOL's who isn't turned on by 'exclusive' or 'hard to find' or even 'desirable', can I say I don't want to be caught up in the hype of limited edition Technic, or BttF?
My actual Lego status today: Built #44014 on Saturday (mostly Technic), chucked the awful figure away and put my avatar in it. Loved it so much I immediately decided to Bricklink a black/dark version. And I loved it so much I wanted this Bricklinked one to be unique, so have created some custom decals on Photoshop for it (using the set originals as template) and they look fantastic, just waiting for some clear acetate sheets to arrive so I can make my own stickers! Can't wait to print and apply them, hopefully they won't look rubbish!
I should be able to start tomorrow if my orders come through the post :-)
The boxes on these were all in poor shape; unfortunately the Imperial Shuttles were at full Australian retail of $450 :(
I did pick up a Mill Village raid for $68 though :)
Lego Status today is fantastic, however wallet empty.
Got lots in the Argos 3for2, Asda deals and european AFOL shopping weekend.
Can you ever purchase too much LEGO?
Looking forward to capnrex101's review of orthanc :D (part2)
@samiam391 - Very impressive, I must say I am massively jealous!
A custom black Technic jetpack (like #44014 I must say) I was building today gave me a great opportunity to try out some custom decals using some printable acetate sheets I got...
As one can see, my first ever try got mixed results. The decals would only show up on black with a smattering of metallic Sharpie (other pens are, of course, available) on the sticky bit of the acetate. But it does give a cool metallic effect though. Think I'll stick to decal stickers on white bricks though.
(btw, the jetpack isn't complete, it just needs 6 panels which I haven't got! And that's my mascot wearing it if you're wondering. Yes I am crazy :-) )
On another note: @samiam391 Nice work finally obtaining all the SDCC minifigs, thumbs up from me! :-)
Just took down a few of my smaller sets I had on display, since I wanted to free up shelf space for new projects. All packed away for now, although I'm very tempted to just break them up and add the parts to my MOC bins. Just can't seem to shake this need to keep sets sorted and complete, even though most of my building any more is non-sets.
I deeply regret parting with my S1 zombie at the start of the month. I need to get another one now. Damn!
CMF collecting is a slippery slope especially with the value of the series 1 and 2 figures :(
I'll put Arkham Asylum on hold and build it right away. Love those creator houses :)
Great trading with you Wes, this set looks as cool as I thought it would!
If I got Azog, then @samiam391 would not stand out anymore. He is the guru. That's my story, and my wallet is sticking to it as well.
The title of guru is well deserved though :o)
Finished building a San Francisco Cable Car about a week or so ago based on the one in the book 'Brick City' by Warren Elsmore with a few alterations. Still need to take pictures though.
Also, all being well, my Lego tram models will (hopefully) be on display at Heaton Park Tramway in Manchester on the 1st Septmeber (at the Trans Lancs Rally and Model Tramway Exhibition).
Hopefully, I'll be able to make a trip to the Lego store while I'm there aswell.
I call it 'An Unusual Home Exchange' :o)
