@Brickdancer - I beat you too it. The minute that X-wing came out, I knew I was throwing in the towel. I have been in the process now for the last week and half of eliminating all my SW UCS sets. Lego really dropped the ball on that one. Up until late last year I owed 95% of all SW sets made. I am almost completely done selling off that whole entire license. There are only so many remakes a person can take.

Onto much more unique things these days that has a much less rate of ever being re-released.

As for status, well picked up a BTTF last night at the Lego Store. They had none on the shelf, just happened to ask when they were getting them in. They said they had got a limited amount in and were not placing them on the shelves but would sell them to a person if they asked. They said I got the last one, which I kind of doubt. I think they were just doing it as an official "one per customer". Did not bother me either way, I was happy with one.

How weird is this - I don't know if Lego's automated email notifications are slacking a bit recently (a week ago I never received an email 'order received' note), but it failed to send me an email dispatch notification for the sets I ordered (never ever happened before!) - just the PaB. They're all marked as dispatched on my order status page though, but if I only used my emails then that would look flipping odd! One senses another imminent PaB speed record attempt :-)

btw, my order did not contain the #41999 or #21103 that everybody's so hyped about, personally I must be one of those AFOL's who isn't turned on by 'exclusive' or 'hard to find' or even 'desirable', can I say I don't want to be caught up in the hype of limited edition Technic, or BttF?

My actual Lego status today: Built #44014 on Saturday (mostly Technic), chucked the awful figure away and put my avatar in it. Loved it so much I immediately decided to Bricklink a black/dark version. And I loved it so much I wanted this Bricklinked one to be unique, so have created some custom decals on Photoshop for it (using the set originals as template) and they look fantastic, just waiting for some clear acetate sheets to arrive so I can make my own stickers! Can't wait to print and apply them, hopefully they won't look rubbish!
I should be able to start tomorrow if my orders come through the post :-)

Anxiously awaiting arrival of S@H Lego order and two ebay items. Tempted to go to B&N to see if the Architecture set #21050 is available.

Took my BTTF Delorean for a spin over the weekend and went shopping at an out of the way "Big W" and saw these on the shelf :/

Older Lego sets at an out of the way Big W

The boxes on these were all in poor shape; unfortunately the Imperial Shuttles were at full Australian retail of $450 :(

I did pick up a Mill Village raid for $68 though :)

Got these in post today, didn't expect the jek box to be so tiny.

You can say that, and I'll say it for myself too. I love the alternate body kit on the #41999, but not enough to spend 140 quid on the set. Even if it wasn't probably already too late to buy it.

There are quite a few gaps in the first one. You could easily have spent some more time getting greebling pieces in there. :-)

Worked almost non-stop this weekend, just now catching up on forum threads. Enjoying the comments. And, after working extra hours, now able to buy a little something Lego.

Found a #4204 The Mine tucked away in a non Lego row at Walmart today for $69. I was thrilled because my son has been hounding and hounding and hounding me for this set.

Got lots in the Argos 3for2, Asda deals and european AFOL shopping weekend.

Can you ever purchase too much LEGO?

    My Lego status today:
A custom black Technic jetpack (like #44014 I must say) I was building today gave me a great opportunity to try out some custom decals using some printable acetate sheets I got...
    image
As one can see, my first ever try got mixed results. The decals would only show up on black with a smattering of metallic Sharpie (other pens are, of course, available) on the sticky bit of the acetate. But it does give a cool metallic effect though. Think I'll stick to decal stickers on white bricks though.

(btw, the jetpack isn't complete, it just needs 6 panels which I haven't got! And that's my mascot wearing it if you're wondering. Yes I am crazy :-) )

On another note: @samiam391 Nice work finally obtaining all the SDCC minifigs, thumbs up from me! :-)

My BTTF set arrived today, so I have a feeling I'll be doing some building tonight.

Just took down a few of my smaller sets I had on display, since I wanted to free up shelf space for new projects. All packed away for now, although I'm very tempted to just break them up and add the parts to my MOC bins. Just can't seem to shake this need to keep sets sorted and complete, even though most of my building any more is non-sets.

After months of being good and not visiting the Sheffield store to spend money, we went there today :) I didn't plan on getting as much as we did but my husband saw #41999 so one came home with us leaving 3 sat there. The children was happy to build a minifigure each :)

Been selling off a lot of my collection recently due to lack of cash and having other hobbies (gasp). Trouble is that handling all this Lego has reignited my interest and after avoiding collecting minifigs from S7 onwards, its all starting to happen again. I received a nice trade in the post today and I think I'll have to get more, especially with S11 about to come out.

I deeply regret parting with my S1 zombie at the start of the month. I need to get another one now. Damn!
  • indigoboxindigobox Member Posts: 470
@iso3200 not good that you are getting your rid of your collection but it is good that you are getting back into LEGO :D
CMF collecting is a slippery slope especially with the value of the series 1 and 2 figures :(

Received #31012 today. Managed to get it for a really good price! About $50 shipped, that's more than 50 % off Norwegian RRP.

I'll put Arkham Asylum on hold and build it right away. Love those creator houses :)

@LostInTranslation - Was this purchase inspired by @drdavewatford's blog post: http://gimmelego.blogspot.co.uk/2013/05/rocky-horror.html? Just curious since I had never noticed the set previously and it has popped up twice now in the last month or so.
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
@CapnRex101: actually, no. I hadn't read Dave's post until just now. But like Dave, I had been after this set for a while. Very happy to add this to my collection :-)

@samiam391 - I was very fortunate to get them all in great shape. I really feel sorry for that individual who had to send me the last one knowing that the first 3 had all arrived in perfect shape. Guess you would not know anything about that though would you ;-)

@CapnRex101 - Held true to form and only have procured all the Super Heros from SDCC over the years.

If I got Azog, then @samiam391 would not stand out anymore. He is the guru. That's my story, and my wallet is sticking to it as well.

A kind of out of date status from me, but I didn't post at the time and have had other stuff going on, which is why it's being posted now.
Finished building a San Francisco Cable Car about a week or so ago based on the one in the book 'Brick City' by Warren Elsmore with a few alterations. Still need to take pictures though.

Also, all being well, my Lego tram models will (hopefully) be on display at Heaton Park Tramway in Manchester on the 1st Septmeber (at the Trans Lancs Rally and Model Tramway Exhibition).
Hopefully, I'll be able to make a trip to the Lego store while I'm there aswell.

I have been trying to get my son to do this for the past 2 years. How are you going about it? Are you doing each set separately, or are you counting the total number of each piece for all the sets combined?

  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
^ I did it when I came out of my dark ages a couple years ago and I would start with sorting the parts you have into at least a few general categories like plates, bricks, tiles, bulky odd parts, everything else. Then I would just start with a set and pull all the parts from the inventory for it, bagging them up, and marking what was missing. Repeat till all sets have been inventoried.

I'm doing pretty much what @graphite said. I sorted all my parts according to the Bricklink categories, and reassembled my minifigures. Then I took a ziplock bag for each set I have and put the correct minifigs in the bag. After that, I proceeded by going through the part categories one by one, using Bricklink to tell which sets the pieces go in, and placing the parts in their appropriate bags, which is what I'm currently working on. After I've finished that, I plan on going through the individual set inventories to make sure all the pieces are there, and then replacing any parts that are missing. I also plan on making a spreadsheet of any loose bricks I have left at the end, so I know exactly what parts I have.
