    Just kidding!
  • binaryeyebinaryeye Member Posts: 1,831
I was just kidding, too; I really don't have anything against North Carolina. But as an Illinois fan, I'm still a bit disappointed about 2005.

Er, to bring this back on topic: As I was about to leave for work this morning, I heard my nearly-three son scream in frustration and then the sound of LEGO falling apart on impact (with a wall, it turns out). The LEGO (several City trucks) is fine, though in pieces; the wall may need some touch-up.

Just opened up my email inbox this morning to find a new message. Dispatch notification for my Lego PaB order? No. Lego offers? No. I couldn't believe it, Amazon is trying to push M***B**** onto me! What? After I bought some Lego from them!? How dare they treat AFOL's like this! ;-)

You can all guess where that email went! ;-)
    image
Yep, the trash! And I emptied the trash folder too after that!

(Ha ha, I do notice the word M***B**** isn't blanked out in the pic, sorry!)

@TheOneVeyronian what did you ever do to Amazon to deserve that?
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
^^ I just woke up to find that mail too!!! Evil Amazon! It got the same treatment from me!
  • dejavudejavu Member Posts: 235
Eh. It's like when you buy Viva paper towels at the grocery store and receive a coupon for Bounty.
  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,730
I was browsing the modulars on Amazon and they kept offering me -$3 on a Kreo Transformers Bucket. Not exactly the same ballpark.

@TheOneVeyronian and @LostInTranslation- You aught to file a lawsuit! ;-) I just checked my emails, there is one from Amazon! But on mine they were advertising lego! I guess I'm a favorite customer. ;-)

I'm not a unique case then ;-) Kinda insulting really, you'd think they treat AFOL's who have spent over £100 on just Lego with them in the last MONTH with a bit of respect, eh?

Mind you, apart from numerous emails for me to trade in a £40 book on igneous geology for tuppence and a few recommending Lego sets I've already got, that was my first M***B**** one.

On another note, and my Lego status tonight is: certainly the last place you would see Lego for sale is surely the zoo? I happened to go to one today (Whipsnade), and in the gift shop I found, amongst other things, Lego! To be fair they all had animal themes to them, so the only ones for sale were Friends polys and a near-entire range of Legends of Chima. But still - one of the last places I'd expect to see Lego! I didn't take a pic even though I had my camera on me, but believe me, they stocked Lego!

Wonder if anyone else has spotted Lego for sale in places you wouldn't normally expect to find them?

Having a break from building for a couple of weeks.

I saw some Series 10 Minifigures at a flea market, only 12-15 left in the box but he had the bags numbered and was kind enough to tell who was who before buying. All I needed to complete the series (no MG) was Grandpa which he unfortunately didn't have, but I need to complete my 7/8 before I worry about that, being I completed 9 long ago
Funny I'm missing rares like Grandma Visitor, Ocean King, and Rock Girl (EBAY- WOO! #sarcasm) but on 8 I missed all the EASY ones!

@TheOneVeyronian, I saw the same clutch of sets at London Zoo back in June. I kinda saw the animals tie-in, but as you say, it's still a bit of a stretch.
As for status, I've just finished the primary build of #6913 (because I was desperate for a lego fix after a couple of weeks without) with the window open to the cooler night air, listening to Tiesto playing the Olympic park just down the road. Mixed feelings about that one...dance music was my all-consuming passion for most of my dark ages (how times change), and it brought back lots of memories.
  • TheOneVeyronianTheOneVeyronian Member Posts: 1,372
^ No surprise when you say they were at London Zoo ;-) both London and Whipsnade zoos are run by the same company, ZSL. ;-)

They really are trying to expand their products, aren't they? They even had #70006 in stock there, yep, the expensive one. Nice touch anyhow for Lego to expand their market for Chima, obvious animal tie-in and all. Although I doubt the lions at London Zoo will become anthropomorphic and start freaking the visitors out! :-P

Skinned alive, drag down the road for a mile, then dropped in the ocean. And that's just my wallet talking.

Barely survived the SDCC weekend online Bonanza.

Just modded half my Spiders and Flies. Urgh spiders. ;)

Now half my Fifteen Birds in Five Fir Trees is better. With pine cones. :)

Can't wait, but have to ..... to do the full mod, when I have all the sets.

Ended up with 2 extra Supermans, since I bought the other one off my friend for a fantastic price. Making for about 9-10 out of 200 Supes in the hands of Bricksetters that I know of so far.

^I may now be complete for SDCC 2011, 2012 and 2013. But you're still ahead of me with the Toy Fair Pair @Geddes. I'm still Hulk-green with envy many months since that.
  • GeddesGeddes Member Posts: 574
Ha ha :) hulk jealous! 5 hero minifigures to go now.....

@brickdancer i wonder how many of all them bricksetters end up with

A bit disappointed at TLG trying to cash in on the Royal Birth(TM). Just received a mail saying we should celebrate "all things British and Baby" by buying Duplo, Tower Bridge or Big Ben.
Yes, I'm so excited that these people I've never met have had a child that I'm going to drop £210 on Lego....

It's nice for them of course and a significant moment in history (of the future really), but I was much more excited about the birth of @Minifigsme's daughter :-)

@LostInTranslation, Sadly it doesn't look like we will be getting discounts on these sets!!
  • TheOneVeyronianTheOneVeyronian Member Posts: 1,372
^^ Got the same email too. Seems everyone is trying to cash in on the event. But I'm not so excited that I'm suddenly going to buy a Lego set that I have no money or room for, is it ;-)

Plus, is it really the case that the phrase 'Royal Birth' is a trademark? But in all seriousness, congrats for the royal baby.

But back on topic: My Lego status today: Waiting for a Brickmaster book I bought off eBay last Thursday and shipped Friday morning, and it still hasn't arrived! Are Royal Mail taking the day off today or something!?

I missed out on all panels and a lot of other cool things & giveaways. All my time was spent chasing the Lego goods and waiting in the long lines to come up empty handed a lot of time. What can I say, Lego got me by the technic ball joints...

A whole lot of blood, sweat and tears, but finally it's all practically over... 5 days of constant hunting, being on the phone, dealing with questionable sellers, and refreshing my eBay page until the print on my f5 key began to disappear..... all of it resulting in a complete set of the 5 SDCC 2013 minifigures.

I don't think there's a weekend that I love and hate more than SDCC weekend.

@LostInTranslation- now I'm wondering if Lego might be thinking of a baby wearing a tiny, little crown as a minifig for series 12. :)
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
^ We totally need a baby fig!
The CMF line should deffo include a mum pushing a pram with baby inside.
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
@lostintranslation I'll give her one for you and tell her you will see her soon. When she spits up on me in reply I'll try to figure out a way to convey that to you :).

Finally sifting through some Bionicle from a bulk buy to see 'If Bionicle Will Ever Be Worth Anything'. So far I am having little success even identifying what I have. Some of them are in old dark grey so that narrows it down a bit.

    ^ Jealous!

My status: beginning to regret my plan of collecting all LotR sets (based partially on the idea that Lego was too busy with Super Heroes and Star Wars to release any event exclusives). Micro Bag End won't be too bad of a blow but Azog may become that one set I couldn't quite get.
