Finally got around to building the Stage Coach Escape last night. It was everything I hoped it would be. You can read my review, if you're bored.

Also, finally wrapped up my posts on my Brickworld MOC.

No dark ages for me anytime soon :)

My son and I returned home very late last night from a few days in Philly and Washington, DC. Self imposed ban on social media sites for several days. Only sightseeing and Rolling Stones concerts allowed- The Rolling Stones baby!!! Great concerts, great museums, great food, great fun. Now sitting down to get caught up on the hundreds of Lego posts I've missed. Gee, it's good to be home!!!!!

I saw the Stones a few years back when they came to Durham, NC. Sigh....At Duke University of all places.

...which led me to browse eBay real quick where I stumbled upon and bought a newly listed 100% complete Green Grocer for $250...

I am Sand Green with envy over your find. I just paid more than that to BL the grocer and that was with subbing the 1x8s and no instructions.

Ordered more parts off Bricklink last night and also thinking of stopping off at Cribbs Causeway on my way home from work this afternoon to buy a set just for 2 parts...

    Surprised.

Surprised nobody in the UK has noticed what's been selling in the Brand Stores at £118.99 for the past couple of days.

    # 70400 forest ambush. Just opened and put together since I was bored watching the news. Figs were the main attraction.

I don't live near any of the brand stores so I'm quite intrigued now, will be going near one this weekend, delivering a M3 saloon to a new customer.

I hope it is Haunted House or something else that will cause quite a stir.

Day 30 of building #7965 Millennium Falcon with my son. I was beginning to think it was too big for a 6 year old. We were only a few pages into instruction book #2. The interior already got a lot of play time as it was very accessible without the roof installed.
On the bright side, the minifigs were instant hits.

Basement flooded a bit (enough to ruin carpet and require a new sump pump). Needed to move all of my displayed UCS sets as I don't want the carpet removing crew to have to move them themselves. Figured it's a good time to break them all up and put them away for a bit.

I'm going to have some very sore fingers over the next few days :(

@dragonhawk, props to you for such amazing patience!

Thanks. Oh how many times I wanted to say "Here let me take care of that" and completed the whole thing myself. ;)
To be fair, there are too many outdoor activities that hinder the build during summer time. Our next big project will be done when it is freezing outside when I have more of a captive audience :)

So glad you like them Lucy - thanks for the feedback on your mystique, I think it turned out well after a bit of back and forth :)

My Lego status: finally on maternity leave, which for me means putting the Lego down for a few weeks!! :)

Watching hubby begin building #8421 which we won on ebay for $257. Shipped priority. Not a bad price considering what they have been selling for. Hubby has wanted this for a very long time!

Stopped off at Toys R Us at Cribbs Causeway today instead of yesterday.
Nothing really jumped out at me as being worth mentioning here, but I did have time to rumage through the series 10 minifigs and came away with the Sea Captain I was after, so I'm happy.
Didn't have time to go to any of the other shops at Cribbs today.

Currently experimenting with hanging my flying vehicles with nylon thread. Was worried about my knots, but seem to be holding up a Sith Fury-Class Interceptor no problem. Will now enter the process of replacing the cotton string hanging up my ships with nylon thread because it looks so much neater!
    image
That was two hours after hanging it up. You can only see the thread because I used a rather powerful flash on my camera.

^ Be careful with that Sith Fury. I can tell you from experience that it's a very fragile ship if it falls.
  • TheOneVeyronianTheOneVeyronian Member Posts: 1,372
^ Don't worry, I've taken it down now, it was just a tester to see the thread's strength. I hung that about 30cm above a soft surface (my bed). I haven't got the guts to permanently hang an £80 ship just yet. Nothing worse than being woken by the sound of a falling ship at 3am, I can tell you!
I actually used two pieces of nylon thread to hang the Sith Fury, one either side of the cockpit. Much more stable I find.
I have some barred shelves in my room and they're excellent for hanging flying vehicles, so I don't need to drill hooks or risk blutack to hang them.
Currently, the most expensive set I've permanently hung is my Z-95 Headhunter, but that's not very heavy.

Was able to get $15 back from Walmart.com after they shipped my #10233 Horizon Express by just slapping labels on the box. Arrived battered and beaten but glad to see that at least their customer service was willing to make up a bit for their disaster of a shipping department.

Just found out my local Toymaster has the new City sets in so I purchased the Coast Guard Helicopter #60013 looking forward to the new shark as I'm special like that. Now just awaiting those I ordered during the week to arrive through the post.

I saw the new city sets last night at Target, too. I think I want the $80 boat when it goes on sale. I don't have a lotta blue baseplates to simulate water though. I bought the trash truck...

Someone really needs to mod the Tower of Orthanc into a modular building.

Kinda like this guy has, but as an actual modular:

Just thinking about what I saw on sale in my local Entertainer in Uxbridge earlier today:
    image
Yep, it's true: It's still selling Series 5... at full price! I couldn't believe it, it's like it's stuck in time with the amount of them they have!
(sorry about the picture quality on this one: I didn't take this with my usual Nikon camera, but an iPod touch)

^^ I wanna live in this city. I'll buy the lot by Bags End, put the family house on it, and proceed to smoke some pipeweed with Bilbo and Gandalf. Gandalf is like holding a pipe in every scene of the Hobbit....

I have zero blue base plates and must get some to be honest, I've been a little lax with lego for some time. I want that boat too, they also had the old harbour set as well, very tempted by that but I have to watch my spending, after all you have to watch your capital these days.

Just watching The Papers on BBC News and bizarrely Lego is mentioned on two front pages tomorrow - The Sunday Mail has the free toy of course, but the Sunday Express has a header "The Inside Story of LEGO Exclusive". I'll have to have a look at what that's about when I get the free Lego from Smiths tomorrow.

I just picked up 3 new blue base plates, to work on the lakefront community I'm building with all my Creator houses. Also picked up some minifigs, Ser 8, 9 & 10. Did not realize until now that the Ser. 9 cyclops has a kind of goofy endearing face under his mask/helmet.

Frustrated! That moment when that 100% complete set bought on ebay is discovered to be incomplete! So far a total of 14 pcs of which 9 we don't have in our bulk and we're only 2/3 through the build! Next time a seller complains that his funds are being held because I haven't left feedback my answer will be . . . As soon as I confirm all pieces are present . . . Be patient!

Very true, it's why have been doing my best to live the dream here and now but it does start to get very expensive, having to cut back on Lego expenditure this month as the Big Blue one is in for service and that always ends up throwing up a bill well into 4 figures but I can never stop loving it.

I just bought The Sunday Express to see what the Lego article was - turns out to be a 3-page potted history of the Lego Group, by the author of the book Brick by Brick. Cuusoo, BTTF and the Lego movie all get a mention at the end too. Didn't tell me anything I didn't already know but it's interesting to see more and more national media featuring Lego stories.

^^^ I know exactly what you're going through, every single 100% complete set I've bought on eBay has turned out like that. The last one was #9446 which, when I'd checked it all, had 130 missing parts which later cost me £18 extra to BrickLink. :-(
Luckily, the seller was honest after I explained and refunded me most of the purchase price, and I got a set I wanted for cheap. But I've decided that's the last time I buy a used set from eBay! :-)

Sitting here looking at a pile of Mini builds and trying to decide which I like most.
The Rescue Plane or the Ride on Mower. I decided it is a tie.
But the Galaxy Squad Robot walker has the most interesting parts.
