I honestly thought this would be the very last one I was able to aquire sure to it's scarcity and expense, so I'm very happy to have gotten it at the deal I did.
With what I have on order, I'll be down to only one more set to go!
I sadly missed out on this one on original release because I wasn't really actively collecting much LEGO at the time and certainly wasn't buying many large sets. But since I got the Pirates bug in me a couple years ago I've been really, really wanting to add this one to the collection. After all, MetalBeard is a distant relative of the great Captain Red Beard! Well, I finally was able to buy up a used copy for over $50 less than the original MSRP which is a great bargain in this market. There were a small handful of missing pieces, a few broken reddish brown pieces, and I'm going to need to replace the stickers eventually, but otherwise it was in good order!
Quite happy to have this one join the fleet!
Reminded of an Ancient Egypt set I had as a kid - #5978 I think - according to BrickLink inventories they're the same part just with a different printed design, the same hole playing a sand pit in that set (often the same mold has different role in different context, like part 22667 Cherries in Lime being used to represent a bunch of grapes
you bought it only a few weeks ago? Don't rush, I have some stuff I haven't gotten to from a few years ago. :)
Spooky!
The auction place, now that's a different deal. Yeah, much more of the "will you do a deal?", "Do you accept Flainian Pobble Beads?", "Can you send it to my Nan, who's called Gerard?", "will you pack it properly?" and even if you manage to navigate all that, they seem to expect a line of credit to the end of the month and then don't even have the courtesy to give you feedback.
Similar level of irritation in both places... so, if any sensible persons wanted to help my sanity, I have much that I'm selling here on the forum or over there where they suck off 12% and really don't do anything to protect sellers for their cut, so feel free to make reasonable offers!
