The news report I saw on this said it was stuff raided from shipping containers the thieves broke into. I didn’t get the impression that it was packages in transit to end consumers. I don’t think companies like Amazon or UPS are shipping their packages by train.

Things have been slow here on the Lego front as we’ve been dealing with some family illness issues… However, I was recently talking with a friend who wanted a bookshelf that I wasn’t using.  Knowing that I am a Lego fan he offered this set in trade…

He’s happy with his bookshelf and needless to say I am quite pleased as well!
    That's a spendy bookshelf!!

Just got the order in for Santa's Visit. FINALLY... now the Old Crab's braying will switch from "why haven't you got it for me?" to "when will it be here?"

Working on Herbie, and I kind of understand why LEGO chooses stickers. The '63 Beetle is a curvy little car, and sloping like it needs is HARD. But, I've wanted an accurate LEGO Herbie with few gaps for years, so I'm going to do it, Lord willing! In SC scale first!

I just watched a video from Jan 16th on YouTube about it, and the train was derailed. But they said the thefts have been going on since before Christmas. What a mess.

Good! Been splitting out colors bins of bricks into 2xs and 1xs, combining contrasting colors in 1x bins.  Saving the bins of mixed hinges, attachments etc. for later, maybe with wine😁

Similarly, I've heard of flatbed train cars with truck trailers on them. Easier to load and unload for the local truckers I suppose

Status = Jaded.  Bored.  Just a bit 'meh'.  I've lost my Lego mojo.  I don't know if the last year of big expensive sets, specifically aimed at adult collectors has just made my fun, niche, quirky hobby a bit too mainstream and ordinary.

Anyone else feeling like this?  I honestly feel as though I'm falling out of love with Lego.  :(
I'm procrastinating on my backlog like usual, I brush off those huge pricey sets anyway
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,342
Lego blocking Freight Forwarding addresses now apparently so I can't order from [email protected] DE and get it in Bulgaria anymore :(

Just had an order cancelled so I guess no Monkie Kid allowed for me then.
Maybe they fear trouble with local distributors and/or the taxman versus being difficult for their own sake
  • KingAlanIKingAlanI Member Posts: 2,342
    Browsing new sets in Target

I like #60238 assuming I ever work on my beach layout.
Bought some modern road plates by themselves awhile ago, should see what I think of those before buying sets with them

Nice turtle piece and well done ice cream cart (#60314 has the same mold ice cream cone suit if I felt like cops and robbers shtick).

    #60329 school is cute too

This is why you don't use a freight forwarder, you make a friend in a place that can get what you want and trade favors. :)

TOFC (Trailer On Flat Car) was one of the early forms of intermodal, big in the '50s to about mid-'60s but such "Piggyback" services are rare now. TOFC still requires a crane to get it off the flat, though.

There's even  a system where you could actually run specially built highway trailers on trains with only a special coupling adapter and RR front truck, but it's also rarely seen anymore.

Annoyed. Wanted to finish off #10297 with my eldest, so just bags 14 to go. At the 7th step, i turns out my set is missing a #4211616 - a Left Wing 6x12. Slightly big part to go past QC, if you'd ask me.

It's 18:28 over here, so have to wait to call CS. :S

Popped into our local Asda to get shower gel and Gravy (as you do!) Found new polybags in a box!
Been hunting for the City hovercraft for ages with no luck. Thought the Technic one would be on the cover of the next Technic magazine

Met up locally this morning to sell some Bionicle Turaga sets I recently unearthed in storage. Then shipped a couple sets off to a fellow Bricksetter this afternoon. The Ninjago City Gardens fund grows bit by bit!

    Today’s status: amused.

I never thought a CMF could be missing a part, and have an extra unrelated part, at the same time.

    Missing: tail
    Extra: grandma hair

^I've heard a few stories along these lines of being able to replace a part. The last time I tried to get a replacement part (Jack Skellington from Disney CMF2), the best they could do was send a random CMF bag and hope it was correct.

*Jack's Tux tails were cut so it wouldn't stay onto the hip pins when seating the torso.

And would you look at that, the tail must have flown out of the bag when I opened it, it was elsewhere on my office desk. Crisis averted, everyone please resume your daily activities.

Yep, always check the bag for a "missing" piece... If you don't find it, check again... Ah, there it is. (I missed a grey 2x8 plate once!)

Luckily I completed my collection of the original Spiderman figures last year for my Marvel collection otherwise I'd be paying through the nose!
