Thank you everyone for the input on my MOC; the extra ideas were a great help! I made changes and additions throughout the week, and now I am working on the first draft of the instructions.

Had the instructions printed for @veyniac 's Amethyst Geode set.
Bricklink orders for the parts are on the way.

I don't think I'll ever understand the cross-marketing.  But happy to see someone is enjoying the product!

I decided to get a pair of Lego branded Adidas shoes. I understand these aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I love them! Adidas has produced a few different varieties/styles so far, and I like these ones the most (with the exception of the first run ZX version, for which I lost out on the lottery for). The box they came in is a nice touch. I’m excited to wear them, although I’m afraid to get them dirty!

I looked up how much they cost and about shat myself. Plus the fact that they don't even come in my size (they top out at a men's 10).

I'll give them this, they do look good! But I am about the furthest thing from a shoe collector as you can get. I too would be scared to ever wear them and get them dirty at that price.

^ Apparently, the shoes begin to lose clutch at size 11.

They are by far and away the most expensive shoes I've ever bought. It's hard to justify the price for something that gets worn and eventually ruined. My wife basically forced me to purchase them. Like most things, she knew I would have quickly talked myself out of them if I didn't buy when the impulse hit (triggered by a clever Adidas marketing email, no less).

Shoes are funny for me. If I had lots of disposable income, I'd totally be a sneaker-head. As it stands, these are the first shoes I've ever "collected." They indeed have lit a fire in me and now I find myself shopping for other Licenses that Adidas has (Disney, Star Wars, etc). Like my LEGO hobby, though, I will restrain myself.

I bought sneaker protector spray for these. Let's see if I work up the courage to actually wear them!

^If you do wear them you have to post a video doing a catwalk with all the poses at the end.

Waiting for a specific Ikea Besta cabinet to come back into stock at our local store so I can hang it and get some more sets displayed. While I wait I can YET AGAIN rebuild #3181 Passenger Plane from 2010 which my preschoolers keep crashing. Sigh.

Update! for those of you waiting in suspense: I wore my new LEGO sneakers to work today. Like my indecisiveness around buying them, I would have let them sit for weeks agonizing over putting them on and walking out. I decided to man up and just do it!

I've gotten both compliments and strange looks. So far, the sneakers are still clean. They are quite comfy, too. The raised LEGO stud pattern on the insole feels good. My father about fell over when I told him the price (I run this company with him).

I feel silly and accomplished and overall, no regrets. Even my wife likes them :-O

^apologies, but I forgot to hit record during my catwalk
You've inspired me to wear my pair tomorrow. They've been sitting in their box for the exact "they'll get dirty" fear you have. I've never spent close to this amount on a shoe... definitely the person that gets holes in their shoes and continues to wear them.

@pxchris they actually go up quite a few sizes higher, I think they pry just sold out. I'm a size 13 but ordered my pair almost immediately after launch.

Grr... stupid BrickNerd and their stupid fantastically written in-depth theme overviews stoking my compulsion to get into collecting the Adventurers theme!

    https://bricknerd.com/home/everything-you-want-to-know-about-lego-adventurers-8-9-21

Don't they know that all of my money is tied up in Pirates right now?1? How rude.

But seriously... a fantastic article which and fans of the Adventurers theme should read. @KungFuKenny I'm looking at you.

Today (actually yesterday) I received the results of an examination of a tumour that was accidentally found in my small intestine three weeks ago. It was three very long weeks of waiting but the result is positive for me: it is not cancer. Nevertheless, the polyp has to be removed, I will have surgery next Wednesday.
I was so happy with this result that I immediately gifted myself a few LEGO sets: #60302 (mainly for the elephant) and #41686.
    I shall pray!

Don't worry I'm still into LEGO. Recently I've been thinking of stopping collecting most of what I collect, and focusing on building my city. The only official sets I plan on using without changing too much, or mixing the parts into my parts collection are the Modulars. The only question I have is do I sell off the sets I don't plan on using, or keep them for the parts.

Keep them for parts and also buy second copies of each.

If you don't have the money or the space for the big one (like me), then this will do as well.
It's from Luis Peña and has 80 parts. Built it from parts in my inventory so no orders were required.

There are limits- even with a bit of work some of the damage remained.  What I have found works well is carefully separating the tabs from the original glue and laying the box flat. I then iron the cardboard with low heat through a thin towel to flatten out wrinkles or creases.  Torn cardboard can sometimes be mended well by using a Japanese rice glue that’s ideal for paper.  Even fairly shredded cardboard can be teased back together with very thin layers of this type of glue and some patience.  In less ideal situation’s I’ve had to use clear tape on the back side to repair a tear.

Logically I know that these are just cardboard boxes that were meant to be thrown away.  My non-rational side, however, loves holding on to vintage packaging because it allows me to pretend I’m buying the sets for the first time back in 1981…
This sounds like content for a front page article. Make it happen @Huw

This guy does similar type repairs and I have used some of his tricks before.  He is more partial to linen tape than to trying to re-attach or “knit” the cardboard, but I’ve found his (and other toy restorer’s) videos interesting to watch…

All excellent builds, including yours and your son's @pxchris!

It took me a good few seconds to finally realize why you'd posted a picture of a Super Soaker. I was genuinely confused how that had slipped into a Lego thread!

My first thought was "Why does that super soaker have 1x1s inside of it?" Then I looked at the handle and realized the truth. That is probably the most realistic creation I have ever seen.
