nope i am not dead :P

so i not got any lego in mouths, this is down to 1 thing.
i ran out of room. not like before when i ran out of room and made a little more space. no this time i cannot work how out to make more space. so it has to be a super grate lego set at a super grate price for me to get it.

so i not seen any set like that for me to get.
    till today.
so i been watching #75964 Harry Potter Advent Calendar 2019 and it been at £19.50 in most shops. Sainsburys last week had it in stock but price up at £25. so i passed on it.
now this week there had it down at £19.50. would have passed on it again if we did not have a Spend X and get £15 off. so the shop came to £19 under the Price neede to get the £15 off. so payed £4.50 for it, :P as with out it there be no £15 off :P

dont think there be a big christmas lego buy for me this year. so we see how things go.
so i am in what some would call a mini dark age. but seeing as i am keeping up with lego news. i dont think i count as a dark age :P i just not buying set like i was.

Gotta love building a huge set, and realizing you put a light blue 1x1 brick in place of a dark one back on step 20 and you're on step 50. -_-

Bonus when you cannot lift off a larger section to avoid a full disassemble or when you have to puzzle out a way for partial disassembly when some technic scaffolding is already locked. (had one of those snafus on #10221 with the attachment points for the rear thrusters)

Not a 'huge' set, but I was fully annoyed having neared the completion of #70815 only to realize that I hadn't aligned the gears and pistons exactly, and had to disassemble the entire build and take apart the base to rectify my oversight. There's even a clear, large diagram in the instructions to ensure this doesn't happen, that I foolishly overlooked. :p

A while ago there was an article on the Brickset main page about a sale on custom MOC instructions at Build Better Bricks. I sprung for the Aliens Xenomorph instructions and the final pieces arrived from Bricklink a while back.  Seeing the version done by @Pate5346 inspired me to get going on mine...

I’m really pleased with the result- looks sufficiently menacing and not too expensive either.  Now I have to decide whether or not to pursue the Arvo Brothers version, which has been tempting me ever since @TheFew mentioned it to me a while back...sigh... back to BL soon I suspect...
Go for it. The parts list is not too horrendous.. I am almost there myself.

Some of the longer ribbed tubes are expensive, but I am going to try to cheat and attach shorter ones together.

Also the black windscreens (62360) are a killer, but I will probably used dark blue or dark green... who's gonna know?

I've had a couple of Lego 'firsts' today (both from the same transaction, oddly enough). A trip to Walmart to get something fun to build led me to finding a TLM2 set at the mythical 50% off clearance pricing I keep hearing whispers about on here. I'd wanted to grab another #70833 just to have extras of it's unique selection of parts, and was pretty chuffed to find it at half off. That's the first time I believe I've ever seen such a steep discount on Lego firsthand.

My second 'first' was discovering an inventory mishap in a set. I'd never once encountered a missing part in all my years of building Lego sets. I finally picked up #41347 (something I've been meaning to do since reading the fun review @MeganL did on it around this time last year). It was hard to put it back on the shelf yet again at 30% off, so it came home with me too. Just as I neared the end of the build though, it seems an errant grey #6126082 modified tile (a part that's not used in the build at all) found it's way into bag seven and displaced a navy blue #4205004 tile. It's fully not the end of the world (the included part does the job well enough), but it kinda gutted me that I can no longer claim to have never encountered a packing error. Up until this moment I honestly half questioned the veracity of the various reports I've read of such things, hahaha.

Wife was online shopping and she decided she needs 2 coats. So I had to ask why. Her response was to attach me and ask why I need so many modular buildings. I told her the Lego modulars are actually worth more now then when I bought them. Of course she called me out on it so I told her to look up the Pet Shop, Brick Bank, and Grand Emporium online to look at current prices vs what I paid. Let's just say the argument ended there

Tree House is available in a department store I go to I just don't feel like pulling the trigger on it just yet. I have way too many sets to build and want to do a fair few of them first before I buy anymore big sets. I'll probably end up buying it in the next month or so. It also looks flimsy as well with all the leaf pieces. I may decide to have a dead tree with no leaves.
  • madejp86madejp86 Member Posts: 287
^ just pray she doesn’t start to think “ if they are worth so much more now, why aren’t we cashing in on the profits?  Then I could have 3 coats...” :-)
Thankfully our 4 year old loves playing with the modulars so he would give her hell if she wanted to sell them

@Charmiefcb I found the treehouse amazingly sturdy and have moved it around a lot just by picking it up by the trunk. The leaves are all pinned together with “carrot tops” so they are very stable as well.

I think I bear a strong resemblance to my avatar.  And, unfortunately, the rough approximation of a minifigure's proportions.  I need an eight-stud wide car.

Anyway, shockingly, I've been making a concerted effort to reduce my 'extras' and extraneous side-collections that I'm falling behind on.

If there is a Disney LEGO Cars collector out there, I have a bunch of used sets, random pieces and sealed sets I'm contemplating downsizing from my hoard of 'to dos'.  Said 'to dos' I won't get to...

It's always super weird seeing people you've only associated with avatars before. Like, Bumblepants is suddenly not the kindly mustachioed little eastern European man I pictured in my head, and SumoLego is far more dapper than I would ever have imagined.

Way to ruin my head canon, guys. At least my image of KFK as a Strawberry Shortcake lookalike is still in tact.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably get it next week.

@sumolego I hate snow. I'm going to see family in New York in late March/early April and hopefully it's all gone by then.

One set that I forgot about was the 1989 Batmobile. I'm now looking forward to it for Christmas. Just wondering how big the box is going to be.

Just got in ~9 shipments from Target.  Was able to get some really good deals on 18 sets from my wanted list using their buy $50, get a $10 gift card.  Only got sets that were on sale already, and even before the deal I got about 22% off RRP.  Managed to get 38% off RRP with the deal+Red Card.  Pretty happy with that, and cut my non-retired wanted list by a significant amount!

Went to the Lego Store today in my break; they had tan 8x8 plates, which I got 20, and added some 1x2x5 white pillars, some dark red brickbricks, some green 1x2s with studs on the side and transblue 1x2 tiles. Also some red gnome-hats and other WV-esque BaM figures.

^Getting people interested in your Ideas project can be an uphill battle.  Once you hit a 1000 or more supporters momentum starts to build and the project might show up on the front page.  Unfortunately it looks like at least 3-4 other past Casey Jr/Dumbo projects failed to gather support and expired, so you would have to stand out from them.  Again, gathering support outside of traditional Lego fans (Disney Parks fanatics, model train enthusiasts, etc...) would probably help your cause.

Posting support for the PiqaBrick Kickstarter project over on the main page. Needs another $10K in support in the next 7 days to make it to production. Looks to me like a great project, so if you haven't heard about it, check it out over on the main site!
