Got my #75227 Darth Vader Bust in the mail today.  Still a little salty about the whole stupid way the release was handled, but at least I managed to get one.

I'm very excited about the City Space sets- they're on the Brickset main site now. I need them all!

I actually took apart set #31036-1 and rebuilt it as just a toy store. I removed the angled backdoor and expanded the walls to be straight to create more space inside the store. I also took out the furniture for the apartment above the store and turned it into a storage/break-room for the toy store. I'm quite happy with the result.

I really like how they put the 'Inspired By...' bit on the front showing the real life thing the Space set is based off of. Simple but brilliant addition. Makes me want to get them for my kids for me to play with educational reasons.

Likewise! I don't know I'll get them all, but I really like the images and will certainly get some of them. I think they're doing it brilliantly by making it a near-future theme.

do the space sets look like actual NASA stuff, they first looked like made-up stuff to me. also looking for pictures, I found megaconstrux actually made a more impressive space rover.

They are made up, but several of them are 'inspired' by certain NASA vehicles.  (As in, there are some similarities if you squint reaaaal hard.)

I squinted so hard, my eyes were closed. Then I could imagine real Nasa vehicles. That's the only way I could see it. So disappointed in these sets...I especially dislike the cockpit design on the shuttle.

I wonder how much a set of that Parliament build would cost...  I support having that be the next large build in the the Tower Bridge/Big Ben sculpture line :P

Well to be fair, the watchpoint gibralter set is pretty much just all around awesome for everything except for PPP.

Popped into the Birmingham Discovery Centre at lunchtime as I was working nearby. Very pleased to pick up these and a few other polys I was hunting for. I picked up a second set of the SW ones for trades as well.

Sure - have at it.  I don't have an electron microscope to really dig into Speedman's tablecloth.  It appears he's pretty proficient at folding and creasing linens.

Ok, so i bought a lot today and as I started going through it I find that most of the figs have been painted, not sure what type of paint but it scratches off with my fingernail. Does anyone have idea on how to best get it off without damaging the figures??

Bleh, I know the feeling (though mine's usually sharpie....). I wonder if a short bath in rubbing alcohol would loosen the paint more? A few minutes is safe for figures. Consistent rubbing of rubbing alcohol (...) for several minutes is not.

I'd be surprised if they did supplemental runs of any of these sets.  Between the cost, delay and waning interest - it doesn't make much sense.

A few BrickLink orders done, several lists for some super secret projects are now 100%, now to wait for the parts to arrive, then I'll have to compile a few more lists & do it all over again...

Found #75886 for ~30% off on Amazon from a 3rd party seller, with free shipping (but not Prime) so I grabbed it.  As I'm sure you all have guessed, the price was clearly as low as it was because the box was super crushed and mangled.  Built it out just to make sure everything was there and in good shape.  This is actually the first Speed Champions set I've built.  I've picked up a few here and there because I like them, but they're not a priority, so the others have all been sitting in my backlog pile.

It was a good build, really enjoyed it, especially considering it's only 179 pieces.  Was much more engaging than many other small builds I've done.  Only downside is the number of stickers.  I feel like 25 individual stickers may be a little much for a 179 piece set...

LEGO Status of the day: The number of stickers is too dang high!

I mean, they're certainly stylized (as most City sets are), but yeah, they are definitely based on current or planned NASA technology. Some appear to combine multiple NASA concepts — perhaps in order to compromise between the more futuristic planned technologies people might be less familiar with and the more well-known ones currently in use

I feel as though this is another clever marketing ploy where a very limited number of advertised regional exclusives will be made available at [email protected] and sell out in fifteen seconds.

    Blech!

The rear spoiler looks ridiculously large  otherwise looks fantastic, I'm finding the wheels don't roll as free as city vehicles, today I was drooling over carriage from fantastic beasts unfortunately it's still not mine

The thing with Speed Champions is that racing stickers like these are specific to said car and said car only. Having them all as prints would severely limit usage, especially if someone wanted to turn it into a road car. Also, as a MOC builder, I would much rather have the option of leaving stickers off than having parts I cannot use due to their prints. I don’t plan on taking any of the 2018 and 2019 SC vehicles apart, though.

Yeah, that's totally fair on both counts.  It was really just shocking when I got the box open since it was my first Speed Champions set.  I had read that they all had tons of stickers, but having 14% of the parts in the set either printed or stickered (not counting the Minifig prints!) was a little crazy to see, lol.
