^ I agree. For any other hobby, $50 is a serious investment. For Lego, it's an impulse purchase.

Wow!  Apparently I need to get working on converting wants into sets!  I’m barely just over 2 MF/set.  Which kinda makes sense.  That’d be a small to medium type set, which could well be about my average.  You might think it’d be higher, but a few architecture sets with 0 MFs it averages down as well.  That’s not far above Vorpal’s number, and just a bit under Recce’s.  Not sure how to get it to show parts though.

It's interesting seeing others Brickset numbers, I'm only a few hundred more than @bandit778 in sets, yet close to a thousand more in minifigures... Makes me wonder what breakdown of averages are for some things, like average number of minifigures per set made by TLG versus what the average number of minifigures per set from what is in my collection.
Not sure about others but I presume that my minfig to set ratio is well down because I list cmf's as sets, not individual figures (unless I don't have a full set of course) and I like to change things up a bit with the occasional Technic set.

6 sets, nearly 14,000 parts and not a minifig in site. :)

Is that Prince's Batman album playing?! Spent a fair amount of the early 90s listening to that on my old walkman...

Hahahaha! We watched the video clip to Batdance with our boys the other day, @xiahna & I joked about setting up a camera to capture the moment before I hit play (we really should have done it), the reactions from them were priceless.

Now theres an idea! Will have to introduce my eldest to Keaton's Batman one day, be interesting to gauge his reaction!

Apparently it's some kind of ride on suit case, no doubt for the kids.

I just saw a kid riding one of these (different color/design) in an Instagram story. The guy who posted it lives in Australia.

Found the Captain Marvel set out at Target. I guess this means they are finally doing the reset in the toy section.

^ so does that mean you did already have S9 but forgot so bought another? That qualifies for the other thread on unbuilt piles/duplicates etc. ! But please go ahead and buy whatever it is - we need to know what it is.

Spent just over an hour watching my grandson build #21148 Minecraft Steve yesterday. May not be a big hit with AFOLs, but he had lots of fun building and playing with the completed figure. We also built the other two minecraft bigfigs, but halfway through the second one he turned building over to me so he could get back to playing with Steve.

Came home from a very lucrative endeavour. Egghead Mech and Justice League Anniversary sets bought at Wal-Mart since LEGO S&H was sold out as soon as they listed them as retiring soon. As a bonus Wal-Mart price matched one of them to their online site pricing of 12$ so I save extra from both items which were on clearance for 22$ each. Very good deal, even if I couldn't price match both. (Only third party re-seller selling the Egghead mech on their site so their official price was not present for price-matching.)

I'm just pleased I managed to get a character represented by Vincent Price in Minifigure form.

^^I like those shelves. I've been looking for ways to display my BHz too. I finally settled on an idea. I just have to purchase said idea and hang them up.

    ...and build my Brickheadz.

My status is that I love LEGO but can't afford to buy them brand new. The only set I bough full price was 75932-1: Jurassic Park Velociraptor Chase and 40262-1 Christmas Train Ride.

Everything else I wait till it goes on clearance. If I get something I want marked down great. I got and saved some money. If I don;t get something that's just money I'll use down the line to get another set. Also my space is limited so I don't have a whole lot of room to display things.

BrickHeadz are my current fave since they're small and I've been picking them up on clearance for $2.50 to $5.00.

The Brickheadz pictures reminded me I had some on my wanted list to get from the Lego site after a Christmas and January embargo on any Lego stuff.
Now I find out they've retired the ones I was looking for. Thought I would have at least a few months before that would happen.
The epic battle begins in my head: "you really want them" versus "you'd save money and not have to pay over the rrp".

They look pretty similar to these ones I've been looking at on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01H2BQJJU/

The only thing I'm not a big fan of is the front lip, which blocks a bit of the lower view.

At IKEA. Look for Mosslanda shelves (at least over here it's what they call them).
What I did was to use DUPLO baseplates to fit the BrickHeadz plates and lift them in relation to the border, or else the legs wouldn't be visible, especially on the top ones. It also allows me to evenly separate them, as each BrickHeadz (with the large baseplate, not those from series #1, nor the seasonal ones) occupies the same number of DUPLO studs, and I leave 1 empty between them.

I'm in the process of annexing the children's playroom section of my basement.  But these are actually for my office.  The current display shelves smell like they were stored at the bottom of a swamp.

I looked at those shelves the last time I was in Ikea, but I wasn't too happy about the little V groove in them. Have you found that groove to be an issue at all?

Since I use the DUPLO plates, it's no issue at all. And I can also tell you that the shelf is 6 DUPLO studs wide, the plates fit perfectly.
But I can try putting them without the DUPLO plates to see if there's any problem.

4AM is an ungodly time to be waking up. *YAWN* Alas I couldn't get back to sleep so I ordered LEGO online. @SumoLego is this ever a problem for you?

Anyway, used up all the rest of my accumulated VIP points to get the Harley Cannonball for less than 10$, tossed in Vader and Anna & Olaf, and will also be receiving three free trading card packs and an album. There was a glitch, Customer Service said I would be getting three of the packs, but the description for the set was for the album with card, which concerned me, but after speaking in chat with a friendly representative I placed the order and really hope everything goes as planned.

So, I guess I'll try to get back to sleep now. If the cat will let me.

@TheOriginalSimonB , why does the green one have short legs? I assume you have some regular legs in green, right?

    Mr_CrossSprinkleOtter

  • I ordered two figures and two sets of legs from a BL seller in France to complete bright yellow, bright purple and worm gold monochrome figs and less than a month later Lego announced the release of #70841 and an all gold statue in one of the city sets.
Patience was definitely a virtue in this instance.

I've got Green legs, torso and hands kicking around, but this one is actually Bright Green and not got long legs to match.  Probably just needs a bit of a tweak on the camera settings or post-processing to show it properly "bright".

@shib hopefully when B&P reopens early Feb all the parts will be available to order. My warm or BL’s pearl gold copy consists of MODOK’s torso, C-3PO’s arms’ hands and legs and head from B&P.
No wiped parts in my collection.

Interesting to see that Lion Dance set as a GWP in Singapore this year. It was available in HK last year, and from this Brothers Brick write-up I assumed it was one of Andy Hung's creations. (Andy Hung is a LCP)

Instructions for the set are available here.
