Well, the release of #42083 Bugatti Chiron made me plonk down the cash for...the #42056 Porsche 911 GT3 RS. :D

I'm 32, and I haven't bought a Technic set since I was about 16? But these sets are gorgeous.

As nice as the Bugatti is I can't justify spending that much without discount, so with the Porsche due to retire soon, and with a nice 30% off on Amazon UK, I went for that instead. The Bugatti can come later!
Can't go wrong with that deal.  I wonder if they'll keep making these cars into Technic every few years or so.

He wasn't.  Thought my wife was trying to break in!  Probably the most excitement he’d all night.

Gave Sam a fist bump through the glass however so he was happy.

Placed an order for a certain expensive LEGO set as soon as the promo hit.  Used all my VIP points I had been saving roughly ~5 years

Whoa!  Patience and self-control right there. Doesn’t always happen with Lego addicts, errrrr, collectors/enthusiasts. Good for you.

Can' believe it! Just went on the Lego Switzerland website to look for some sets to get with the new freebies. All the prices have gone up by around 10%!!! This is crazy! Seems like a crazy price hike!

Lucky, I seem to be in a jurisdiction where the points expire after 2 years.

Do my VIP Points expire if they are not redeemed?

Yes, all VIP Points expire on the date of 31 December two (2) years after the year in which they were earned. For any jurisdiction which (currently or in the future) prohibits points from expiring due only to passage of time, then the points shall only expire for persons resident in such jurisdiction if no VIP Points were accrued during the preceding 2-year period.

That's crazy.  I didn't know they expire.  My state says gift certificates must be available for at least 7 years, so maybe that covered me.  If they were going to expire, they send a warning 3 months beforehand.  I would have been super pissed if they took away all my points, especially since I only buy LEGO for me.

Anyways, said set has shipped.  I am very happy.  I will have to track it so I can make sure I will be there for delivery.

^ I bought that set last weekend! Spent the last two nights on it. It's a fiddly build for my big fat fingers but looks great when finished. It'll be on display for a long time methinks.

@Polyphemus I did the second bag today and yes, it does get a bit fiddly. I found it especially difficult getting the masts to be pushed down enough and the sails to line up nicely. I am quite impressed with how sturdy it is though and I really enjoyed putting the bottom together.

Going to pace myself and keep the next 2 bags for tomorrow.

In other news, I've been sneezing all afternoon after dusting my Tatooine display in the bedroom. I'm doubting to change it to something else, but I do like all those sets so much. Plus, still haven't made the Rancor cave bigger so I should really do that first!

@dmcc0 That is annoying... Which part is it?

@snowhitie, that LEGO dust can be downright nasty to the sinuses. I bought some used sets a year or so ago and felt like I was sneezing for a week straight after dusting the parts off!

For the ever-growing Batsuit collection  obviously ;) - cowl from fig bat001.
Will just have to place another order to get another, along with some more parts to make the shipping worthwhile!

Looks great @snowhitie I keep being tempted as it would make a lovely display piece, I just can't justify the price tag to myself.

Lego status: not much really, Mrs Speedman got a cool digital cutting machine for her birthday, the LEGO room has become its home for a bit and the PC hooked up so she can create with it. Everything needs a good dusting, the sorting pile is ever growing and I need a new project to get my teeth into.

Today I'm looking hopefully at 4 x #70617 at trying to work out whether they will give me most of the pieces I need to have a go at an, albeit fairly liberal, interpretation of Osaka or Matsue castle, inspired by a recent visit to Japan. In my head it looked like an doable project - not so sure when faced with reality.

I got the #76109 Ant-man (set without minifigures). It was less than £10, the parts are top notch, definitely recommend it. Neat little build too.

@milamber This MOC (not mine!) looks a bit like the main keep of Osaka castle:

The creator has made more pictures and the LDD file available here. It's 2988 pieces, so comparing the LDD part list might give you an idea whether 370617 would help you achieve what you want.

Cheers, that's helpful. I have several other models bookmarked, but hadn't seen that one. Each one is useful for inspiration and ideas. I doubt mine will accurately represent anything real, but will be in the spirit of the original design.

Been having a lot of trouble getting excited for Ship In a Bottle, the more I look at it, the more I pine for Neo Classic Space and the days of classicspace.com.
I am starting to see a nice tree or two in the stand, I do like the gloves and if I can get over paying retail for that many single studs, I may have found quite an inspiring parts pack!  Also quite keen now to build a mod based on a correction I've just had to make to this very comment - "Shop in a Bottle'.

    Is the Leviathan tile printed?

^ I too pine for Classic Space. I like the ship in a bottle though, I've seen people put other ships, like the falcon mini in, I'd be tempted to see if #918 would fit!

I worry that if a 'Classic Space' theme were to be introduced... and then bombed at sales... we'd never again see any 'Classic' themes.

The last go-round of Pirates sold out of the stock, but I don't think much was produced.  It wasn't wildly successful.

Since it's an Ideas set, there are no stickers, only prints.

@MAGNINOMINISUMBRA all printed. I did doubt quite a long time to get this set myself actually. It is a high price for the amount of pieces you get but it was pretty fun (albeit quite quick) to build and it looks amazing.

Thanks guys! There was just something about the tile that looked off...
Should correct my earlier statement.  It was actually Chris Giddens PRE classic space stuff that I was specifically getting the vibe for with that big round clear cockpit!

I concur on Pirates last outing for Oz.
However, take a look at Imperial Flagships. With TLG's recent, obvious examination of aftermarket value and popularity, even they must realise that if they do a ship properly, it will sell like hotcakes.  You can't tell me a D2C sized classic castle with at least a dozen minifigs, three or four horses and a small dragon wouldn't be an instant hit?  It would also be seen as a slot (and somewhat similar set)  that could have gone to Ninjago) Though the introduction of licensed stuff & in house themes with extended media has indisputably been good, I wonder about the damage to classic themes as a whole.
Im also quietly hopeful as to whatvTLM2 might offer.
Anyway, I'm probably going to have get this for the MOCs I'll never build parts pile, there's some part of the bones of a steampunk submarine in there somewhere, and I really like that tile!

@snowhitie That's one of the best Star Wars displays I've seen! I'd call it Mr Fetts Dream. Flying around in a giant slave One blowing up puny ATATs, Sandcrawlers and Sail Barges.
    Look at tiny Sarlacc.!

After the dusting yesterday, I felt a shake-up of the display was needed. Since I didn't want to let anything go, Hoth now shares with Tatooine. I've posted 3 pictures but all small in size so I hope you'll forgive me :)

    *snip*

Kind of regret never buying attack on Hoth now ;)
With a new medical chamber coming (#75203) and what you have there, you will have well surpassed what AOH would have offered.
Your display makes me kinda regret skipping the Sandcrawler... Ah well.
I know there is a new(smaller) version coming, which may in some way scratch the Sandcrawler itch and honestly, I'm really not trying to make you feel worse but I often wonder how many others let this pass them by because of the subject matter and have regretted it as #75059, despite being a big brown blob and not that interesting in the films, has been one of my top ten building experiences since coming out of my dark age and in the flesh it really is a well finished brown behemoth.

Edit: @snowhitie , If you do decide to take the Sandcrawler apart, be very careful when pulling the Brown bars out of the clips as I managed to snap 2 when I disassembled mine.

@Bumblepants Sorry to make you regret missing the Sandcrawler. I was going to say what bandit beat me to, there is a new smaller version coming out that looks pretty good as well.

@bandit778 you are probably right, it's just mainly the shield generators I'm thinking of.

Not necessarily my Lego status, but my wife and I gifted DNA tests to my parents on their birthdays recently and the results just came back. (It was somewhat self serving in that I could do the math on their results and know my results!)

After compiling what the DNA mixture would be for me, I've discovered that 42% of my DNA is from Great Britain and another 13% from Ireland/Scotland/Wales.

With such a majority of my ancestry apparently coming from the United Kingdom, I probably should start drinking more tea or something!

You have to look on the bright side, not having AOH you are only missing 3/4 of the shield generator as the last quarter was missing anyway. ;D

I think I must be the slowest Lego Builder there is! It's not that I don't know what I'm doing, but rather I like taking my time and making sure I'm following the instructions. I find it amazing that children young as 11 year-olds put together Creative Sets together in a day or two (Though I suspect that they do get help for an adult even though they said they didn't), yet slowpoke 53 year-old takes 2 weeks. Though I probably could put together these sets quicker it's just the quicker I get one done I find myself in withdrawal. The Lego Roller Coaster is taking me longer for not only am I taking my time, but I'm freaking out on how huge this set actually is.
