Sorting through 8kg of mixed Lego. Found most of #6462, but having trouble identifying the castle pieces I have.

Caved in and bought the Hogwarts Express at 50% off. The lady at the counter allowed me to open up the box and check the contents. To my surprise, all 6 bags were there and the minifigs were in bag 1. But bag six was ripped open and the parts spilled out of the box. Now I have to count the parts... will post back once I'm done!
Where from? The cheapest I can find them here is RRP.

Today's status: Waiting for John Lewis to take £245.75 from my account...
Normally I'd be quite keen to keep it (:-) ) but I'm worried my order isn't going to go through as they haven't taken the money yet...

Broke, busted flat and told my Lego money for the month has been spent! Guess I'll raid the Lego room to see what I can find to assemble.

Big bricklink order came in, so I'm going to be very busy.
The 9V switch point that came in won't sit flat on table.
Wondering whether or not to throw a couple dictionairies on it?

Finally won a Bizarro Minifig on EBay after losing about 15 auctions!
  • BuriedinBricksBuriedinBricks Member Posts: 1,367
Just stumbled on a 10179 auction that was about to end and had fun watching the flurry of last minute bids as it jumped by $300 in the last minute.

Car suffered a fatal malfunction and lucky to make it home safe. Now troubled with needing a new car, yet all I can think of is how this will affect my Lego buying lol.
  • AFFOL_Shellz_BellzAFFOL_Shellz_Bellz Member Posts: 1,263
@BrickDancer sorry to hear of the demise of your transportation! It's not fun having to buy a car because you have to rather than because you want to. In spite of not planning to I got the Mad Scientist Monster Fighters set today. Also saw several new Lego items in the Back To School section of Target. Picked up a few.
  • BrickDancerBrickDancer Member Posts: 3,639
Thanks Shellz! I'm just happy I loaded up on UCS sets the past couple days, so past the point of return =) Now have to go on a Lego diet. But after Jabba's Palace. And the Skiff...

    "And then?" "No and then!"

Having trouble keeping track of purchases *sigh*

Perhaps I need to stop shopping and start sorting.
  • dimefielddimefield Member Posts: 314
Been sorting for 2 weeks straight. Pulled 68 sets from a bulk lot so far and haven't spent a dime on Lego in 2 weeks. Cant decide if that's good or bad!

^I would like to congratulate you for your self-control, dimefield. :P 68 sets from bulk is awesome by the way!
  • AFFOL_Shellz_BellzAFFOL_Shellz_Bellz Member Posts: 1,263
@dimefield, That's an awesome haul! I've been sorting as well, but it's bulk we've had for a while.

Stitches are out of my hand and incision has a couple of spots that aren't fully closed so have to be very careful about using it. Incision reaches from base of big finger to the bottom of the palm in zigzag fashion. When it feels better I've got the Crazy Scientist MF set to put together.
  • dimefielddimefield Member Posts: 314
With about 90 percent of the minifigures present as well! Instructions about 50%... Just sorting the last set i have instructions for and then its time for detective work...

Realised the image of Harley Quinn in the Ultimate Sticker Collection book has her torso on back to front. I don't know what's more embarrassing, the picture being wrong, or me as a grown man enjoying doing a sticker book.

Student loan repayments started this month instead of December like I thought it would. This is gonna seriously hamped my LEGO purchase plans until December! Not to mention my old yearning to buy Warhammer 40k miniatures has returned stronger than ever, not sure I can resist it this time... :|

Completed a nice trade with the great @atkinsar. Thanks so much man for another smooth trade amigo! Best always.
Also built the LoTR Orc Forge and Attack at Weathertop. Orc Forge is a stand out and is a nice build, great looking on display, great figs and armor and loads of playability.

Made a rotating glass entrance for my Modular tonight. It's a bit bonkers. Hope I can fit the building around it.

Bought Monster Fighters Zombies 9465 on line today because the closest store that has it in stock is 45 miles away in a direction we almost never go.
Also got a package in the mail from ebay auction . . . Duplo promo blocks, got 4 we didn't have. One was not even in the auction. The seller found it after listing the others so sent it as a bonus! Definite way to get positive feedback!

Pleasure my friend, glad it all turned up safe. Must admit, was a wee bit disappointed not to receive another Mile Lilly signed postcard with this one ;-)

And a time-travelling one no less. Think you mean series 6, or a gladiator :D

  • Penkid11Penkid11 Member Posts: 788
After almost 2 months, all of my loose bricks have been sorted by part! To celebrate I found the parts to 9 small sets I hold near and dear to my heart:
#2963 Extreme Team Racer (the one that started it all!)
    #4940 Granite Grinder
    #6734 Beach Cruisers
#6735 Air Chase (All three above are loved because of Lego Video Game influence)
    #4743 Ice Blade
#4745 Blue Eagle VS Snow Crawler
    #6772 Alpha Team Cruiser
#6773 Alpha Team Helicopter (What's not to love about Alpha Team)
#5935 Island Hopper (by far THE BEST Adventurers plane)
    Oh the memories!

Must stop buying LEGO till I get home, excess baggage costs are too high. 7637 Farm at 55 euros was too much to resist, even happier that it rang up at half of that :)

Wow! Nice to see vacation and Lego merging into one for you. See any other EOL sets on the journey?

Status: Repenting box saver and was able to send about 25-30 sets back to their rightful homes before going into storage. Very satisfying to see them all boxed up again and the tactile factor will make the future rebuilds feel a spectacular as it did on the first day of purchase. But wishing I never threw any boxes away in the first place since some can't be found right now, so lesson learned.

Managed to get to a Craigslist tag sale in time ... missed on a large box of used Lego, but did 'score' two play-stations of new/ish Lego, both for $5 each. I figure I can sell the play tables (studded tops that slide in & out, and collapsible legs, for a little more than that, so I get about 3lb of new Lego for free ... we shall see! Off to another tag sale tomorrow for 8am to see if I can bag some more (starts at 9am, but that never seems to deter people from showing up early, so figure I'll do the same!)

Felt up three Romans earlier in TRU -and didn't mind having to pay $3 each for them. Then found out one was free at the cashdesk. I still don't know why, nor did the cashier.

And also proud to be one of the first owners of this ...

  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
@brickdancer well I stopped in the UK solely to see brickset people so I think that merger is done :). The only other EOL set was 7688 in Schipol airport.

She's excitedly building the farm now, it's going to be fun getting her to leave the room today.

  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,554
^ I picked up all I could find (3) and paid my money! I'll try for some more today if I can find them, and there is any interest in people getting them. They will all be coming back to the UK.

    I meant where's selling them? :-)
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,554
Yeah, I know. I might try to get some more later so I'm not going to post the location right now. It depends if I can afford an hour's detour or not - I'll have to wait and see. And whether anyone wants them.

Built Mines of Moria. The amount of stickers in this set takes the biscuit!

Building Monster Fighters Crazy Scientist, but taking a break to let the incision stop hurting. Finally found US seller on BL that has 30201, and as a bonus he had a couple of the Duplo Promo bricks I didn't have at a price that was fair! That's a good Lego day in my book!

    ^ What? :-)

Opened a 9465 Monster Fighters The Zombies. Very nice minifigs, and the crushing hammer car is decent too.
  • CCCCCC Member Posts: 20,554
A couple of observations about this set (^ 9465). The coffins / tombs would have looked so much better if finished with tiles rather than plates, especially if there was a 2x1 tile with a death plaque or inscription on it. The pot with bones is quite a fun addition, as you can flip it.

Just built my seaside house - I love it! So many cute details (on the exterior at least. I need to add in some interior features). Absolute steal from amazon.es.

My Lego status today is nearly critical but in recovery. So this happened. And since I'm alive (though perhaps not well) you can laugh at it. FYI, I happen to be about 6 feet tall and have very long hair.

The wife and I were having a financial dispute: buy Lego (me) or spend a few extra nights at the beach (her). I huff out with the dog and go on a looong hot walk. She's gone when I get back. I'm hanging out in the kitchen when she comes home, but to avoid an argumentative encounter I beat a hasty retreat downstairs to the Lego room. I've lived in this house 5 years, painted every corner, changed every light fixture, cleaned every floor, I should know this house. On the way downstairs, trying to take the last two steps in one bound, I crush the very top of my head on the sharp edge of the low ceiling in the stairwell. I sit down at the sorting table to recover, hoping it's not so bad. Five, ten seconds pass, I feel something in my scalp... By the time I make it back upstairs my face is horrifyingly streaked with blood, it's all over my arm, my clothes, in the carpet, and the wife I was trying to avoid has to tenderly doctor me for the next few hours while we decide whether or not I need stitches. She had gone to her work to print out the TRU 20% off coupon for me...

There's probably a lesson in all this.
