I got sent home from work today due to snow which was amazing! I think I've experienced a snow day maybe once in my life. Now the day can be dedicated to (finding a place for all the) Lego!
Expect another one tomorrow!  Pity the kids are off too.

Two weeks into my self-imposed Lego purchasing embargo...just focusing on building and only building.

The GBC thread has been very inspiring...

(looking at bin of parts I'm sorting) "Where am I going to put this f***ing thing?!) the LEGO warehouse I sleep in is near max capacity.

@Fizyx glad he found only a few 30356 is onto something about sets being too cheap in too high a quantity. Maybe all those hot dog carts can sell to all those cops and firefighters

@Lobot #21309 (and #21312) got me to think about non-LEGO space exploration as well

Just finished 70612 Green Ninja Mech Dragon. What a terrific little set this is. Not my usual type of thing, but saw it cheap so took a punt. Fun build, lovely finished model and really innovative use of pieces. Plus some really nice parts, so might even buy another.....and some more mechs :)

Well that has sort of started anyway - I have Destiny's Bounty, Ninjago City, Temple of the Ultimate Weapon, plus some smaller sets. It's the oriental, cyberpunk theme I like, just never tried any of the Mech's, preferring ships and buildings.

@milamber Try the #70611 Water Strider, my daughter asked for it after watching TLNM, I was able to get it at 50% RRP and it was a very interesting build. It moves well and looks amazing.

Thanks. I was thinking about asking for suggestions. I've seen that cheap before as well. Hope it comes up again

I'm in the process of  taking better pictures of my lego builds. I think I need to move the bus stop over to the right some more, for it's blocking the fountain.

Lego every day since I was last in work on the 16th....I had a lot of holidays carried over from last year to use up.

Today I was supposed to go back to work but the Lego Snow Gods have seen fit to grind the country to a halt so I can have another uninterrupted 3 days of ABS-related joy. It's the less fun bit of the hobby, disassembling and sorting the 30+ sets I've built in the last fortnight but it beats a real job!

Once the sortings is done, then on to building some MOCs again. Maybe soon.

Finally got the ecto-1 & 2 set... it was 59.99$ before taxes, making it not the best discount for a retired set, but better than thrice the price in some secondary market reselling circles.

End of a bumper four day birthday weekend. After two snow filled days sledging and playing with LEGO we set off in several inches of the white stuff to Leicester and the National Space Centre for the Brickish Weekend. Saw loads of really cool MOCs and some real spaceships before watching TLBM in the Planetarium in an after hours showing. Came back for a quick look around Sunday morning before a trip to Milton Keynes store and then home to blue skies and dry roads with not a trace of snow around! I've got a few photos that I'll get up in a thread when I get a chance.

^ Wasn't a bad one actually, although my bum might not agree.

My wife was extremely patient and didn't fall asleep either.  Is that a sign that she enjoyed it?

My son brought a test home today, and a part was about 'work' and 'free time'. One of the questions was: 'what does your mother like to do in her spare time'. So my son wrote (obvioulsy): 'building Lego'.

The teacher wrote a big line through it and dedcuted the point!

I don't usually complain to teachers (had to look up the address actually) but I thought to point out that adult women can actually have hobbies different from needlepoint or knitting, I did add a picture of my recent MOCing to prove the point. Hoping I'm getting rid of some of the presumptions in this world...
I think the teacher was assuming it was a child rather than adult activity rather than being sexist

    -

Stayed home today with the hope of sorting my BrickLink inventory backlog, and I am actually getting stuff done.

  • sid3windrsid3windr Member Posts: 1,460
^ I didn't read anything sexist in it (and I don't think @snowhitie did either).

Starting to think Lego blacklisted me for whatever reason.

    - Can't order on s@h since 2 months
    - No response to CS ticket about the above even after reminder e-mail
    - Can't check out as guest, payment is declined.

    Big sigh.

I can still order missing pieces for free and buy with VIP at the store, so I don't actually expect blacklist, rather just technical incompetence...

Had a Ninjago building weekend, decided to build Temple of Resurrection and Airjitzu Temple. Both really interesting builds with techniques I may adapt if I ever get round to building some models inspired by my trip to Japan a few years ago.

Also still got Ninjago City in the backlog pile to look forward to :-)

@SumoLego I don't know, she's not replied yet! She did ask my son for his test back, so hopefully :) Love that story re the snowball... Kind of wish it was snowing still so I could give it a try too!

@KingAlanI didn't understand it as a sexist thing, just a parent/kid thing. I guess I threw you by calling myself an adult woman, but that's because I think of myself as such. Guess person would have been better. Anyway, no mention was made of sex in my email to teacher ;)

So I bought 2 of the 3 Guardians of the Galaxy 2 sets last week. Now I think I will have to get the last one as well. I like the Milano build and it got me thinking of a UCS version. Luckily for me BuildBetterBricks already has a killer version. Dang more bricklink orders...

Yeah, and there's always Bricklink. But the main reason I wanted to get it now was that my wife approved of getting the freebie. Now there is no freebie any more her opinion may change!

^Even buying the GWP item straight from Bricklink is ulitmately "cheaper" than the typical threshold you have to pass on S@H in order to qualify.  I've thought of picking up a few items this way but always end up just buying from S@H.

It's been a while since I posted but I wanted to share some good news and ask for some recommendations.

I found a great deal on a flight from Seattle to Copenhagen from Late April to Early May, so I'm quite excited to be visiting Europe for the first time!

Here's a draft of my itinerary:
    1. Day 1: LEGO House / Surrounding Attractions
    2. Day 2: LEGOLand
    3. Day 3: Early morning flight (6:00 am) out of Billund to Copenhagen to catch my flight home (Departs CPH at 12:15 pm)
Is LEGOLand worth an entire day of my travels? I've been to the one in California so it should be more or less the same.

Another thing I'm worried about is the operating hours of the LEGO store inside BLL. I read online that they open at 4 am, but I can not confirm that. I want to make sure I can pick up some exclusives to bring home.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. :)

The final parts arrived, so I got to assemble my Millennium Falcon Special Edition Microfighter. Pretty happy with the end result.

There's a few extra photos on my flickr, including some with the #75030 & #75193 Falcons for comparison.
