It was massively over subscribed with lots of grumbling parents complaining about the queues. But as the organisers said "free LEGO + half term = loads of people" It was advertised as from 4yrs and up so I decided to build as well, which got me and a couple of other dads some dirty Looks, but we'd got up and out to be there 90 minutes early (and had sausage sandwiches in the cafe opposite) so I didn't feel too bad!
Little Miss Speedman enjoyed it and was happy to wait a few minutes for the perfect photo opportunity. As they say, you wait ages for a bus and then three come along at once!
It's a simple build, but they've said a PDF of the instructions will be emailed next week so I'll post them up.
I think this means I have to collect all of the monochrome now...
It is a new minifigure and gorgeous in person. It's near impossible to capture trans-clear with the type of camera I have. I realize it has a bit of a "old" color tone to it in the photo above.
Joint movement is extremely tight, I'm not even trying with an item like this...
Arms are fused to the hands. Otherwise, due to the way it was stored, nothing else is fused. However, putting these parts together for the photo and then taking them apart was incredibly difficult.
Awesome stuff, looks like we know who will have the coolest monochrome collection now (which you now have to do, cause how could you not, you have the rarest one).
I know... prepare for another "wanted monochrome thread" ;)
At Christmas I managed to pick up the #66493 Cargo train set for a bargain price, which started me off on the 'I'd really like to start a Lego Town layout' route which (in my mind) meant 'Now I need to start collecting the Modular buildings'. The current stuff won't be difficult to find, but I thought I'd missed the boat on the Palace Cinema. Despite lots of ringing round and checking out various places, it was all going a bit J.R. Hartley.
I'd even tried that well known house of bargains, Hamleys a few weeks ago, to no avail.
Yesterday I needed to pop back in there to pick up a guard minifig for another forum member, and thought 'Can't hurt to have another look on the 5th floor.'
And there it was! Overpriced, admittedly, but MISB.
To celebrate, I decided to swing by John Lewis and pick up the last Technic set that I'm missing -the Hovercraft. Waltzed in, not wishing to hang about, as I wanted to get home and crack on with the Millennium Falcon that I'm building at the moment, grabbed the box and did the usual inspection of the edges / corners to make sure the box was pristine, paid and headed home.
It was a couple of hours later when I'm entering the receipt details into my Lego spreadsheet (yes, that's a bit sad), that I realise they've overcharged me. Further investigation reveals the wrong set number on the receipt.
'How in earth did that happen?' I think.
Then I have a look in the bag and realise that I haven't picked up a MISB #42076 Hovercraft, I've picked up a MISB #42064 Ocean Explorer instead.
Muppet!
@560Heliport there's a thriving double decker building industry in the UK.
The classic Mustang is really nice though. It's grown on me since I first saw the pics, when I actually didn't like it at all. Might get that, especially for the Ford-branded minifig - and that's saying something as despite being a Brickset member for years now, I rarely actually buy anything that's not a polybag or exclusive/display type piece.

Thanks for looking.
The bus company do have an open day each year where kids get to play on all the different coloured buses
Hoping a couple of BrickLink orders arrive soon so I can complete my Millennium Falcon Special Edition Microfighter, but then I'll be left with the question of what to do with the #75030 & #75193 I have on display with my other Microfighters.
(this is half my backlog)
my backlog is 8 sets, including 3 with more than 2000 pieces.
Those are not my "big boxes" :-)
The other half of my backlog include:
#10214: Tower Bridge
#10237: Tower of Orthanc
#71006: The Simpsons House
#71016: Kwik-E-Mart
#71040: Disney Castle
#75827: Firehouse Headquarters
#76042: The SHIELD Helicarrier
#76052: Batman Classic TV Series - Batcave
#70922: The Joker Manor
#10188: Death Star
Also been sorting photographing some double minifigs to list on the local gumtree. And after building the yellow castel from #40290, I fancied building the whole box. I found the castle and the ship the most interesting to build.
My son was building #75149 Resistance X-wing Fighter in the mean time. A very enjoyable evening...
Darth Vader prototype helmets! May the force be with me as I collect these dang expensive things...
I finally ordered #21309 Saturn V yesterday, and whilst I'm waiting (impatiently) for it to arrive I thought I'd dust off my telescope and have a look at it's original destination!

Status today: Hot Dog stands. No idea why, but these are just making me happy. Probably good the local Target didn't have more/didn't have them cheaper, or else I would have gotten more. There is just something about the idea of having a city setup overflowing with hotdog stands that is cracking me up.
I'm still organizing my Lego collection and I plan on making a Lego City and moving this display and the Saturn Rocket to different tables. I also need to clean up the basement. :-)

I don’t have Jay or Zane, so just pretend they’re invisible.
