My parents brought up some old Lego sets of mine during Labor Day weekend. Black Seas Barracuda was an absolute mess. Was missing quite a few parts, so I sourced them from Bricklink and Lego. Finally got around to cleaning this thing up today and it has been worth the effort. Still have to piece about 25% of it back together, but feeling productive.
Kinda random, but I discovered during my cleaning that I have 2 Captain Redbeard minifigs. No clue how that happened as I thought he was only in this set

It was an all winning Bricklink, S@H and eBay LEGO delivery day today. Advent calendar turned up along with the Gingerbreadman. Plus <muffled voice> and <loud cough> and a couple of <inaudible muttering> for Secret Santa!

^In my head I was reading that post as the usual status update of not divulging your big purchases to your significant other/friends/colleagues/disapproving pets and substituting the noises for Millennium Falcon, Ninjago City and Fishing Store without even thinking.

The craziness of the generosity for Secret Santa was staggering until I reread it using the actual words typed.

As someone who couldn't decide in time and missed the Secret Santa deadline, it's still very generous.

Opened a second #76044 and noticed it didn't come with a gray cape for Batman. Checked brickset instructions and confirmed it was omitted. Anyone have an idea why?

Actually, I do. The capes came in the first batch of those sets, but they tended to rip at the neck if you didn't remove Batman's armor extremely carefully. I had that happen and I complained to Lego. They replaced my cape and after that they removed the capes from the other batches. They even changed to box. I don't know if they got more complaints or what, but now there is two versions. I prefer the one with the cape even if there's the chance it could rip.

Ok, so I got an extra Captain and another dude pirate instead of a the female pirate. Very odd.

Okay, so I'm late to the party...

    1. what LEGO themes do you collect? Nexo Knights, TLBM, some Star Wars, DC & Marvel SuperHeroes, and whatever else catches my fancy.

    2. How big is your collection? 554 sets, which includes a lot of CMFs, books & various non-sets

    3. what is your favorite minifigure? I'll say Lester at the moment. It's really hard to pick just one because I after all started out as a minifigure collector.

    4. what is your favorite set? Saturn V. I was lucky to be able to line up for it on release day

    5. what is your latest Lego purchase? Women of NASA

    6. how do you display your collection? On various surfaces around the house, including the fireplace mantel. I desperately need shelves - cat proof shelves.

    7. how do you dust your collection? Umm...dusting:(

    8. how do you store your spare parts? Badly.

    9. what else do your collect? Apparently Funko Pops - I was holding at 7 but have recently added some of the new TLJ ones. Chewbacca holding a Porg is too cute! Also Hallmark's Itty Bittys (I tried to stop but then they went and made a set for TWD).

    10. what are you reading right now? Ken Follett's newest book at home & and a terrible Dean Koontz book at work. I need something I can easily stop reading since I only have 30 minutes for lunch.

Had a great day at Glesga Bricks. Lots of awesome afols and displays, lots of happy kids and parents, money raised for Fairy Bricks and we definatly converted a few parents to afol-dom.

We start planning the next 2 shows on Monday!

Went with the little boy and his friend, to the toys r us minibuild event yesterday. Nice little BB8 build. It will go nicely with the minifigure BB8 and the large one once I write my Xmas list to Santa (well, it's siting in the basement at the moment until Santa puts it under the tree!). Although, technically my son 'owns' the minibuild, I can sneak it into a display with the big one right?!

Being honest with myself that I have no patience so Ninjago City will be ordered this week.

    Oh what the hell.
    1. what LEGO themes do you collect? Mainly Star Wars, City if I like the set, Creator. If I like the set I’ll buy it from themes I don’t really look at. IE Destinys Bounty, Temple of Airjitzu and very soon Ninjago City.
    2. how big is your collection? Probably around 200 sets or so.
    3. what is your favorite minifigure? Jyn Erso from the U wing set.
    4. what is your favorite set?
    Grand Emporium.
    5. what is your latest Lego purchase? Creator Carousel
    6. how do you display your collection? Sort of hidden away in my attic at the moment so not really on display out in the open.
    7. how do you dust your collection? My attic gets little to no dust thankfully.
    8. how do you store your spare parts? Big box for old parts and spare bags from sets for all the small extra pieces.
    9. what else do your collect? Video games, movies, you could say books. I don’t really consider myself a collector of things but I do seem to collect a fair few things.
    10. what are you reading right now? Nothing. Have 1984 ready to go just need to find time.

HAHA! Yeah. Ran out of time to complete his facial and torso details, as well as even constructing his trident. SO.... I just drew him up a belt buckle with the classic “A” and slapped it on, hoping people would know. :D They did!

^ Judging by the new movie, he'll need body tattoos, a biker beard and the ability to fly.  Upgrades for 2018!

He will also have to serve as the comic relief by yelling with approval at situations others might find intimidating. Hilarious! (Seriously though, JL looks so awful)

That happened to me! I had to ask Lego to send me a cape as my box didn't have one (It's on the main picture though). I mentioned it here (http://bricksetforum.com/discussion/comment/545628/#Comment_545628) but didn't have an explanation until now. Thanks @FowlerBricks !

Well, it's hard to do Aquaman justice. Looks like they went the easy route and decided to make him quotable, gung-ho and gregarious to make him popular. This may backfire horrendously. But I'll need to see the movie anyway...

  • BumblepantsBumblepants Member Posts: 7,729
^He could easily be the best thing in that movie. His role as water master could be key as pretty much anything and everything in the trailer was on fire.

Today I built my old #10199 Winter Village Toy Shop in preparation for Christmas. In the next couple of weeks I'm hoping to build #10216 Winter Village Bakery.

That leaves the train and the station for our nominated Christmas assembly (tree, decorations, etc) day. :) Very much looking forward to having all four at the bottom of the tree!

I spent almost the entire weekend clearing my 'to sort' pile. I took apart a moc and at least 5 medium-sized sets, and sorted it all into my collection. Then I sorted some bags of parts which I had, and put those into my collection too.

I still have lots of bags left to sort, but I reckon I got through at least 80% of the whole lot - some of which has been needing to be sorted for over a year.

Visited the only Lego Store in Belgium last week. Due to higher Benelux RRP vs German RRP + traffic/parking nightmare in the Wijnegem Shopping Center, it's unlikely I will visit again soon and will stay faithful to the German Saarbrücken store instead.

However at least I got an extra stamp in my Lego passport, and got to say hi to the resident Stormtrooper:

How could it possibly go wrong? It's not like they're putting silly sunglasses on the outside of Batman's cowl.  Or turning the Flash into 'Wheelie' from the Transformers cartoons.

Or inexplicably not showing that Superman isn't really dead.  (Although, apparently, he has some sort of rock levitating cameo in the Last Jedi.)

Amateur.  I just discovered some Bricktober magnets from 2010.  I didn't know they made Bricktober magnets in 2010!

Mrs Speedman popped upstairs to check on Little Miss Speedman tucked up in bed, we then had a long discussion regarding Christmas Day and parent logistics (who is coming, when and where) We then got on to the usual present talk about what to get who. She then looked at the various Brickset browser tabs open on my PC and asked if my wanted list was up to date!

Hi @Adzbadboy I was at that LUG meetup too. Not sure if I chatted to you. I was the one wearing black tshirt with white butterflies on. @Mr_Hobbles you should definitely come. It's so much fun. I have been going almost a year (after a few chickening out times) and I love it and I have made new friends and it's given me lots of confidence!!

It was good, a little difficult to get to know everybody the first time. Having a few familiar faces helped.
