Just got a mail that my BnP-shipment is making its way to me. That's one step closer to finishing my first MOC - just waiting for my PaB-lot later...

My Christmas present from MrsB just arrived (London Bus) but I do at least have Halloween, Thanksgiving and VIP Store sets to tide me over...

Trying to decide if I want to continue moving forward with the acquisition of parts for Brickstruct's Helms Deep MOC. I started it because Lotr is my favorite theme but when I realistically think about it,  I just don't have the space to display it if I build it.  I have around 7500 parts for it not to mention the 300 or so Uruk Hai I collected to go along with it.

I have come to the conclusion that life is somehow trying to tell me not to be spending money on my Lego hobby at the moment.

First the Bike goes wrong - complete carburetor rebuild - big bill ensuing.

Secondly, my glasses frame snaps - trip to the opticians - big bill ensuing.

And just when I thought I was out of the woods, while travelling to pick up my new specs, tractor goes past, flings up a stone, smashes drivers door window.

Not only did I get showered in glass and extremely wet (because it wouldn't have been a dry day now would it) but couldn't pick up my new specs because the shops in the middle of the town centre and I couldn't secure the bloomin car to go and get them.

Moan over, apart from all that, life's good. :)

(Just in case that wasn't Legoey enough for a status, still looking forward to being able to build something when I eventually come into possession of my new specs).  :)

No, seriously, what a day, I am not envious :-), thankfully the good humour you're showing is therapeutic.

My huge box of Lego is finally sorted. So it's time for some more to arrive, right?

Postie was kind to me this morning, with my Ultimate Lego Star Wars book arriving just before my first ever Taun Taun in #7749 from @Mr_Cross. Thanks mate!

I'm impressed that the book has #75192 included already, but I guess it's hot off the press and they must have had a slot reserved for it.

I'm also expecting another Really Useful Box delivery today after the courier cracked a few bits in the last delivery :-O

@bandit778 - sorry to hear of your trials, hope things get sorted soon and enough of this rubbish clogging up our Lego-loving lives! My own status is really chuffed as my latest purchase arrived yesterday evening and it looks great with my other SW micro sets (pictures to follow, yes I know that's a bit slack). Thanks @xwingpilot!

    Woohoo!
    My eleventh-hundred and eleventh comment!
(minus those 16 topics I started, which explains why it says 1127 posts, but those don't count IMO)

Any way, much more of a lurker than a commenter/chatter here on the forum lately, but I try to keep up with it all as best as i can.

Beyond that, trying to break down / take apart pretty much all my sets, so I can refurbish / renovate my apartment in the near future.

    Fire Temple?

(Had no clue, but the red https://brickset.com/parts/design-30586 gave it away, in combo with the branch-pieces ;))

Yup. Fire temple. It's the only set with part 64275 with the right number of pieces. And whoa...pasting the number made my words all weird.

After picking up the Batman Bricktober Set at the weekend and having most of TLBM CMF series I've (perhaps foolishly) decided it might be fun to broaden my collection and collect Batman variants.  This could end rather badly ;-)

^ BADLY?! @dmcc0 wins the understatement of the day award, which is a link to the Brickset list of batman minifigs:

    64 - not too many... :-O

Edit: Ooh! I have 8 of them.

    Ha Ha, Thanks.
I'm only on around 8 so far too, although I'll have to check exactly which TLBM CMFs I have as I'd lost track of them.
I'd already checked the Brickset list and there are a couple of Duplo figs which I'll probably avoid and also the microfigs (another 8, although actually only 1 batman, the rest are villains etc) plus it would probably not be a sensible idea to go after the Comic-Con exclusives.  That takes the ones I still need down to around 45ish.  That doesn't sound too bad ;-)

Dude, do you even Batman? I don't, as Batman is on my list of not-happy themes any thought of collecting is pushed down deep inside where I'll never, ever, ever, EVER find them. But I immediately noticed Wizbat and Baturion are missing from that list. And what about #5004928? Sure, it's a keychain. But what self-respecting Batman Fig collector can ignore that beauty?

Can we please talk about something else now? I barely managed to talk myself out of buying a massive Classic Space collection off someone this morning.

^ You avoided buying Classic Space?! I'm speechless... how do you even... it's there and you... missed opportunity for... but, your CHILDHOOD!?

    Etc etc... :-)

My status today is that I've realised after perusing images of batman minifigs, that my one from #76044 (bought last week for my birthday) is missing his cape. And it's definitely missing, not lost! Lego Customer Services here I go, although disturbingly it's not on their inventory of the set... hmm...

(Off-topic musing: what would be the collective noun for Batmen? I think a posturing.)

A bedspread of Batmen? Or is it a tablecloth of Batmen?

When your kids can build faster than you, I think it is a sign of good parenting that you have taught them so well!

That's my excuse, and it is nothing to do with getting old.

I have 49 - but notice that includes all the Batman game microfigures, only one of which is actually Batman

28 Batmen in my collection. So many more to go. Now I am feeling the sudden urge to place another order online, when I really, REALLY, shouldn't.
  • MaffyDMaffyD Member Posts: 3,575
I realise that I included non-minifig, non-batman figures in my list. I was typing quickly and I wasn’t that bothered. :-)
  • VenunderVenunder Member Posts: 2,666
I'm only missing 14 of those Batmen but since one is a Comicon figure I will never have them all.

36 for me, though I've yet to get the Batman Movie CMFs.

So after double checking the the brickset database there are 44 batman variants I still need (excluding duplo, microfigs and Comic-Con Exclusives).  Checking the average prices on bricklink, only 7 of them are >£10 with 2 of those averaging over £20.

Clicking Auto-Buy shows a total of around £350 from UK based sellers!  It may be a while before I'm posting pics of the whole collection!

Just started playing this really cool Lego game called Dimensions. It looks really good from the offset but I really don't see the content lasting more than a couple of years if I'm honest. ;)

Did somehow manage to start playing it without creating a save file which was a bit odd as when I restarted the game it was the first thing it asked me to do.
Fortunately I'm rubbish at games so only went through the first level before realising it wasn't saving anything and at least I will know what to do second time round. :D

I own all but 13, which of course include the Comic_Con & Duplo variants. Many of the others look very similar.

Must...not...take a closer look at the missing figs in my collection

    Story time:

So, I am a grad student at Oxford (as of a few weeks ago!), and I was sitting in one of my lectures today, when I notice that the guy in front of me is looking at pictures of Lego on his MacBook screen (it's one of those lecture theatre's that's angled so the people in front of you are slightly below as well). I've met the guy before, and he's the stereotypical Oxford type - floppy hair, corduroy jacket, horn-rimmed glasses - so I'm a little surprised. I see it's actually the @MinifigsMe website he's browsing. At this point I turn my attention back to the lecture like a good student (of course).

Next time I look back, I see he is switching between a Google images tab with pictures of a 16th C scholar type bloke and the Minifigs.Me website. I'm trying really hard not to be nosey at this point, but I'm genuinely intrigued. I remember when I met him that he said he was studying the works of a 16th C writer, and I eventually realise he is actually picking out the components to make a minifig of his dissertation subject.

In between taking lecture notes, I see him going through the various different torsos, legs, heads, etc available. When he sees the mortarboard/academic gown accessories (from the CMF graduate) he is rocking in his seat with suppressed laughter and literally rubbing his hands together with glee that he can actually make a minifig of this Elizabethan writer bloke.

So without wishing to be stalkery - well done Minifigs.Me team for making two people very happy today. 1) the guy who was making the minifig and 2) me for being able to see the apparent joy at the rediscovery of Lego :)
That's really awesome @plasmodium ! Thanks for sharing. So lovely to hear our minifigs make people happy even before they've bought them! We have a positive feedback thread on our internal chat (because we all like positive feedback!) I'll pop this up there :)

Either the LEGO Store and my wallet aren't getting along, or they're getting along too well. Even though they were out of the VIP promo set, I still found well over $125 to get. I got lost on the way back, but that's not TLG's fault

Went and ordered the parts I needed but didn’t have so I can build this:

I have been focusing on my other main hobby(die-cast vehicles), but, I really want to build this 300SL.
