My Lego status is feeling a bit undecided. There's eight weeks to go until the Great Western Brick Show and I want to build a couple of new models for it but can't decide what to do. I've got loads of ideas (too many), some I've been thinking about for months, but now I have had a new idea that I'm leaning towards instead and abandoning the original plan.
Just need to make a decision and get on with actually building!!
@LostInTranslation I know that feeling only too well.
Realising this was probably rather silly of me, I calculated the value of this weekend's PAB cup. (For once I didn't forget!) Looks like ordering these parts from PAB online would have set me back EUR 68. Only EUR 25 from BL, but having to pay for P&P from multiple sellers would have eaten into those savings.
So lesson learnt for me: don't forget the PAB cup. If I do forget it, just pay the EUR 0.75 for a new one.
Sooooo happy with Kit Fisto, Paploo and the main gungan, shout-out to @TheOneVeyronian, they are all in great condition.
Fantastic weather once again. Decided to spend a few hours in Brighton today. Popped in at the Lego Store - not wanting to incur Mrs Legopants' wrath, thought it prudent not to buy anything, having bought a couple of juicy sets there last Saturday :-)
Me: I'm really going to try and stay away from the CMF's. They are so expensive. Okay, they are more exclusive and they have cool accessories, but really, there are also so many big sets to get.
Husband: What? But you like CMF? And we like Ninjago.
Me: I know, but we already got 20 Kai's!
Husband: still, it's all new
Me: Yes and I love those bowls, and the cereal box, and the.... No!!! I need to be strong, no Ningago CMF.
Husband: but you like it
Me: But they are different plastic
Husband: But it's so fun to collect...
Hmh, I wonder if my Afol-ism is rubbign off on him. He does build with me from time to time and definilty has a collector gene, but it was funny that besides the voices in my head that want all this Lego I now have to contend with my husband too... I guess I shouldn't complain, at least he's supportive ;) Or enabling more like.
Just saw my first ninjago CMF'S in the shop but didn't get tempted at all, they were even 4,49 euro (Bart Smit mark-up) but I'm sure I won't be that strong in a more sensible shop.
what's the point of buying a set and not building it. if i get a set and i have free time to build it. why not. it not like i just spent the last 24 hours waiting for my order to ship. following it as it travels from Cardiff, all the way to the middle of England and then on to ware i live, waiting at the door for the man in the normally wight van to pull up. only to find it's not the van with my set on board, and wait a little more. before i at least get my hand's on said set. no it not like i do that every time i place an order, no not at all............
that was last week btw.
There will be some sets that even some builders will have trouble breaking open. Of course, most of what leaves my mouth is said in jest and sure it is okay to open most average sets, but I have a whole bunch of exclusive stuff I wouldn't ever dream of laying a human finger on.
She's downsizing, and basically panicked amidst the boxes and went, "Yes, catwrangler said that could go!" to the man collecting some stuff from her for a charity warehouse. I'd actually said no such thing, but she's in full house-sale/purchase/moving stress mode (many of you will have been there and will understand), so we suspect it was a case of "That wardrobe I brought this guy out to collect turned out not to be suitable, must give him something! Yes! Those boxes!"
It's just stuff. But argh. *hugs Lego*
Sell it now....
When civilisation collapses. Only water, antibiotics, salt and maybe gold will have any value.
And then you ask how many mint and sealed Tajs there are out there. Possibly not as desirable as the Falcon, but I suspect there's a lot fewer about and it gets to the point that it would both be stupid and almost criminal to break the seals. Imagine owning the last EVER sealed Construct-a-Zurg on the planet. Who would in their right mind open it?
For me it's more about being the proud owner of something desirable in my possession/collection than having extra cash in the safe. And not forgetting that my collection is currently worth double or maybe triple what I paid for it. Maybe I'll reconsider things when it looks like the market is going to crash but I'm happy for the time being.
If civilization collapses, bullets will probably the most prized commodity. And zombie repellant.
:oP
Anyway, this happened:
So that's my Sunday sorted....
Planning ahead, I'm looking forward to travelling to Ninjago city and with some help from my CMF friends I've really been trying to get into the spirit of things so that I don't stand out to much and to enable me to seamlessly fit in with the locals but for some unknown reason every time I go out in pubic people either run away or call the police.
Am I doing something wrong??

Actually, I'll probably be dead by then at which point if the market continues the way it is, the kids won't have a mortgage to worry about when they sell off the sealed collection. Bastards!!
Having a job and a better half to take into consideration when planning down time means the actual building has to be done as and when I get a spare few moments (which like many others doesn't happen that often).
A prime example was #76023.
I brought this about six months before it went EOL purely because it looked like an interesting build and didn't want to miss out on the set. I actually got round to building it 3 or 4 weeks ago.
Called in at my "local" Lego Store, but didn't buy anything. Did get a stamp in my passport though :-))
