Extra security at TRU.  They must have known I was in the vicinity...

That's some mighty secure air in there.  And on an unrelated note, they still had some Chima sets marked down 10% on 'clearance'.

Just heard from the garage and my car needs even more doing than expected. Crying quietly at the cost.

But also finished painting the study/lego room so storage and display case assembly starts soon.

@TheOriginalSimonB I hope the build goes well. As someone who just built 5 Ikea Billy bookcases, 4 Ikea Kallax units, 2 sets of Ikea Alex drawers & worktop and 2 Ikea Linnmon tables AND have maxed out the storage already I found it a bit frustrating :)

Planned on building #42054 CLAAS XERION 5000 TRAC VC this past weekend but didn't get a chance to.

Great racing across F-1, IMSA, IndyCar, and NHRA over the course of yesterday though.

Finally heard back from the caterer for our wedding, so hopefully will get that fully sorted out this week.

My car is costing me somewhere in the region of 40 BrickHeadz to 3 Bucket Wheel Excavators. Perhaps I should take up cycling again.

I spent an Assault on Hoth earlier this year on my car; which I guess is fine since I am not planning to buy it any time soon ;-)

Am I the only one who measures their car repair costs in Lego equivalents?

My Lexus clutch just cost me a Death Star. The shock absorbers cost me a UCS Tie fighter and a Carousel.

I think the car has to go ;-)
I was doing this the other day when I was picturing a SSD (well, maybe 3/4 of one) hanging off the passenger side of my car instead of the mirror that is going to be replaced.

@Kerre , do you mind me asking what the cost of the set was?  I saw the set for the first time on the Catawiki link on the main page about an hour ago (and was quite surprised at the current auction price)!
  • KerreKerre Member Posts: 411
Not at all, price was 50 EUR. The set including its price was briefly mentioned on Brickset in this LCP thread.  I'm surprised as you are at the current price of that auction. That's more than double the already steep initial price at 111 euro - without the 9%  fee and shipping. On top of that, the lot doesn't close for at least another day.

Seems a "Ridiculous Catawiki Auctions" thread might be in order too, to compete with the eBay one. AFAIK, the set is still available

I'm in Australia so Catawiki isn't really an option as its rare to see shipping to me below 30-40 Euro.  That said, I still always browse their auctions just in case there's a 'White Whale' there.  I have to agree with your assessment though as I don't think I've EVER seen an auction there where (from a buyers perspective) someone snagged a good deal.
  • SithLord196SithLord196 Member Posts: 1,161
My car is going in for repairs at the end of the month for about the cost of an Assault on Hoth.

Luckily for me, the insurance is covering most of the $1000+ repair bill and it's all cosmetic damage. It's also a no fault comprehensive claim, so it shouldn't hurt me in regards to insurance rates either.

Congratulations to @piratemania7 - looks gorgeous.

Shelves and desk all finished, just doors to go on tomorrow then I can start building a certain temple to go in them.  So glad I bought it over triple points weekend as the car needed Ninjago City's worth of extra work!

Congratulations @piratemania7, my son was a good weight too but I always find that's not a bad thing, they are a bit more resistant against colds and they sleep quicker for longer (bigger stomach=longer between feeds). Whatever the case, enjoy this wonderful time.

Totally unrelated In just wanted to give a shout-out to this charity raffle @historyman is doing, I know some people don't scroll down that far so just wanted to make sure those that want to take part do ;) only 2 more days to go.

oh and if you look at the top lego bargains section, it says the batmobile is 75% off, but it seems you may actually receive the joker balloon escape

Back from my trip to Albuquerque; people there are very nice and friendly.

Now sorting out the few LEGO I bought there (Albuquerque and Roswell, none in Santa Fe). Had to leave the boxes behind, but it might encourage me to get rid of the endless amount of empty boxes I have under the bed.

#76075 Wonder Woman Warrior Battle arrived while I was away; building it tonight while enjoying a glass of wine.

Congrats @piratemania7 on your LDC pass... I mean, baby! ;-)

Finally finished the arocs but found half the pneumatics don't work and can't figure out why :(

Arranged an afol meetup for Bricklive Glasgow and had such a good response I need to double the booking size!

Wondering why the only cake orders I have over the next few month's are on the same weekends as shows im displaying/helping at. Having to plan way in advance now :(

I think it's even more of "this is from Indonesia and this looks weird, probably fake" *toss into pile*.

If I can present the article + the invoice + the bricklink store feedback score + the customs e-mail response I got earlier today (they advised me to protest due to my conviction that it's OK, and they don't actually have experts on there until I reject their proposal) etc, even if it goes to court due to being fake after all, I should be able to make a fair "good intentions" case.

But let's hope it doesn't come to that - I don't actually have a lawyer on speed dial ;-)

Welp, that's a first. Probably the first time I order Lego from outside of the EU (Birthday buddy from the Indonesian shop that Brickset published an article about) and I just got a letter from customs/government about "suspicion of importing counterfeit goods".

Basically it comes down to them suspecting the LEGO is fake, and they want me to sign off on destroying it. If I protest, they will get an expert in to check the suspicion, and if it IS fake, I'll be charged for trying to import fakes + have to pay the fee for the destruction.

Now seeing as the BL shop is in good standing (99% good feedback, 1 neutral) and Brickset ordered from there without complaints, I'm quite sure the stuff is the real deal, so I'll take the plunge in fighting The Man.... :|
    Fight the power! Good luck....

Provide them with NOTHING other than a short sentence advising them to start looking for the word LEPIN instead of LEGO (or perhaps start looking more closely at bagged bricks without any stud markings).  The onus is entirely on them to prove the item is counterfeit, not you as the purchaser.  As far as needing legL assistance goes - I'd be sending a message to TLG before calling a Barrister (though I doubt it will get to that).  Let us all know how this pans out - I'm quite intruiged.
  • sid3windrsid3windr Member Posts: 1,460
After me rejecting the proposal to destroy 'possibly counterfeit material' the onus is indeed on them to prove it. TLG would be the one ordering destruction after they checked it over, so I was indeed planning to contact them in such an event.

I'm quite confident the only thing that will happen is that I'll get slapped with import tax and just receive my items next week.

It's taken a year of (im)patient waiting, but Lidl finally got those plastic drawer storage towers back in! Last year I was only in time to get one, but now I've got four of the ones with mostly small enclosed drawers, and one with larger open drawers for the weird giant canopies and other odd bits. (I'm going to take the suggestion of someone on here and sandwich-bag any parts in there to keep the dust off them while still being able to see what I have in there...)
