Oh man! I'm back on the West Coast, going to Seattle this weekend, BUT! I'm going with my mother (how 13 years old do I sound, I swear I'm an AFOL), who thoroughly disapproves of my Lego habit. No way in H E double hockey sticks will I get to sneak off to Lynnwood (even less of a chance if I tell her it's the opening weekend so we should go early!).

I'll be soooo close, too, at the Premium Outlets... I wonder if there's a way to convince my mother that a 30 year old female should be getting Lego for her birthday instead of a Coach purse... *cry*
If what Jenni said doesn't work, tell her you're doing a favor for a really good friend! As for the coach purse, maybe it will be defective and need to be returned! LOL

Last night I built 6276 Eldorado fortress.
    http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=6276-1
What a corker of a set, especially one that's 23 years old and dirt cheap on ebay. Nice! I actually prefer it to the grey potc buildings.

Actually Im thinking these could be the buildings on the 'carribean shores' and the potc grimy grey buildings could be the ones on the european shores. This one definitely has the more tropical feel I associate with pirates.

^ My favourite set as a kid! Bought it again recently on ebay to relive the memories along with 6054 Forestmen's Hideout

I was just beginning to part out a misb #10197 fire brigade and... there's a #10198 Tantive IV instruction manual in place of the correct one! LOL! Silly Lego factory robots... :D

Edit: and in the second box another #10198 manual!

@Jenni and @AFFOL_Shellz_Bellz thanks for the suggestions! But my mother doesn't watch movies either, LOL. It's all good though, I was thinking I could perhaps go down on two seperate days... Sunday with my mother and Saturday with a friend, maybe. My mother and I are on okayish terms lately, and I don't want to rock the boat. (But now I want to see Brave, that sounds good!)

Lego status of the day: Found Bricktober Forestman and Spaceman magnets at TRU! They're pretty snazzy :D

Are you sure it's not just an ad for the 10198 on the back of the instructions?

Just finished watching that not long ago. He was very lucky to come out as unscathed as he did!

Finally through sorting that $600 batch of Lego we bought a while back, now to make a list of all the sets there were in it. Most sets did not have minifigs and weapons with them but all of the Pharaohs Quest setsdid. There were many small Star Wars sets with no instructions or minifigs that we were able to piece together. Looks like one more day of work and we can figure out what to do with them, trade, sell or just add to our bulk parts.

Status: Hemming & Hawwing no more. Too many rave reviews about the build to not take a shot at it. First 2 steps of BL Project 7: UCS MF (10179) has been completed. Inventory gave 20% (~1,000 pieces) for a nice jump start. Now the pain really begins...

  • samiam391samiam391 Member Posts: 4,506
Sorting through a huge lot of minifigures that I found all across my house. Somehow they seem to gather into small little parties in the most un-likely places. I'm a believer in Toy Story being a reality sometimes with these little 2" plastic guys.

Simon Kent's talk in Bristol was good, many interesting facts and it was sold out. Lots of kids, which proved a downer in Q&A as they took half of it up telling him their ideas about What Lego Should Do.
There was even a competition to guess the number of bricks in Tower Bridge! I resisted the urge to look up on Brickset :0) but was damned tempted after learning the prize was The White House!

Oh boy. Spent much of my day creating the Hands of Morpheus with a Blue and a Red pill on them. Should have spent more time on PowerPoint Slides and Excel Documents. Gotta get back into the work mode!!! Maybe Monday...

Being angry after reading that news:
    http://www.spielwarenmesse.de/news/einzelansicht/news/9030/?tx_ttnews[backPid]=4220&cHash=99e91c8397407dcd3fd395ce0a440cfc

Because Oberhausen which is only a few kilometres away has already a lego store.
    @legopants
They dont need any other store there but should spread out a little bit more (southern germany)
Quite agree. I think Stuttgart would be the ideal store location to serve the SW of the country. We desperately need a Lego Store in Baden-Württemberg. Hopefully Lego will recognise this need too very soon...

Why why why do people think it's OK to send used sets with the pieces loose in a taped up box, wrapped in brown paper? Box is fit for nowt but the bin now...
  • LegopantsLegopants Member Posts: 2,097
    @Matthew
On 2 very annoying occasions I've received Lego sets by post in just their boxes without even being wrapped up in brown paper - sellotaped up and covered with postage labels. Nice :-(

. Know the feeling. On ebay I received a small Lego in an envelope, with the pieces loose and rattling around. Rattled around so much, they broke a hole in the corner and all but 6 of the 14 slipped out. Talk about frustrating. At least I got a replacement set, but the birthday present was given a week late. Sigh.

Oh hey! Today we are off to Barnes & Noble to make Lego! No idea what it's about, but it should be fun, with a (so I hear) free polybag to boot!

Congrats @iccarus, it'll look great next to the rest of them once you have it done. Very satisfying to have the whole lot.

Status of BL Project 7: UCS MF - 87% of parts acquired and only at $400 mark. End total might not be as bad as expected. Sprinting to the end today...

thumpa, thumpa, thumpa. Be still my heart! Just picked up major vintage lego haul for just $20 USD, some small sets still in boxes such as sets 230-232, 237 & 400 with original brochures, and a Lego Mercedes with it's original lego plastic box with the Made in Denmark paper sticker just like new.

Last weekend (Father's day) my younger son asked "why isn't there a kid's day, so we can have 'happy kid's day?" To which my wife and I responded the de rigueur, "Every day is Kid's Day."
Nonetheless, this weekend we decided to celebrate "Happy Kids' Day" aka recognition of a good school year, aka clearing some space in the Lego closet for new sets.
So the boys are now in bed having finished building a Mars Mission Crystal Reaper and Doc Oct's Hideout and my wife is working on their 10178 AT-AT. And I still have work to do on my Father's day Sopwith.

Couldn't sleep last night, tossing & turning with all types of Lego matters on the brain, like upcoming acquisition of the UCS MF. Checked the comp at 2am and somehow wound up buying 2 UCS sets NIB, Vader's TIE Advanced (#10175-1) and General Grievous (10186).

All the while, the gf is sleeping unaware. Felt guilty like I was cheating on her, just clicking the night away without abandon. Someone said this hobby is like having a mistress, very true. It's so bad but it feels so good...

Edit: The binging continues.. just stopped by TRU and stumbled on a Batski poly (finally!) and raided ebay for a Lex Luthor Promo-poly to go with it.

I've heard that a lot lately @littletoki =) But as long as we play safe and don't share brick separators, I don't think it's contagious.

Well, my wife is getting into the hobby more... How couldn't she, with a Lego something in every room of the house! She even called me last week because she found Lego on clearance at Fry's (grocery store). I feel a change blowing in the wind.

Got an email this morning that our LUG's LUGBULK order was shipped! Woohoo! Now if I can just remember what the heck I ordered and what I thought I was going to build with those parts. That's the only thing that stinks about the LUGBULK is the once a year opportunity, and "long" turnaround time (relatively speaking).
