@Jenni I learnt from leaving a student house that clean houses are way over rated.

Gift giving is the best thing about relationships....well recieving is anyway.

^ I did the little Brand Retail Store at the weekend :) Just need to BL about 6 parts to finish that, substituted with what I've got for the moment.
I actually have quite a lot of parts for CC so fingers crossed it won't cost me a fortune. And I'm not precious about it being 100% authentic either. Just havin' some fun with a project :-)

How much did the store set you back? Presumably less than mine did.
  • LostInTranslationLostInTranslation Member Posts: 5,572
^ Well, yeah. Mine hasn't cost me 'owt yet :-)

Woohoo! Visiting Seattle this weekend. And coincidentally, the Lynnwood LEGO store is having its grand opening too. But I'm going Saturday and already have the Mini LEGO Store set. Was hoping to get the T-Shirt or The Minifig Pack. Oh well...

Now the pain of deciding what I want to get...

By the way, for the locals, do you think there will be a huge line up for the grand opening like Vancouver, or is there a smaller LEGO fan base in Washington?
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
^ if it's not insane ask about a T-shirt, our manager gave us one the week after.

nice!!! Mine is going to be Tan with dark red, dark tan, and brown "spots" at random
Thanks! Sounds good! Hope all goes well for you, I kept running out of the colors that I needed, but thankfully it actually looks good that way, lol.

Really can't wait til LotR sets arrive!
  • MatthewMatthew Administrator Posts: 3,714
Very cross with myself, a #30055 and a #30110 just turned up, but I've no idea who they're from. (If it's anyone on here please accept my apologies and enlighten me)
  • andyscouseandyscouse Member Posts: 365
^ I suppose that's better than them not turning up!
  • MatthewMatthew Administrator Posts: 3,714
^ suppose so, but I'm thinking I'm meant to have sent something to them, no return address. Not off ebay, bricklink or eurobricks, so must be here...
  • RedbullgivesuwindRedbullgivesuwind Member Posts: 2,142
Their mine you also said you would send me all of the UCS models, several of the modulars and 16 tonnes of spare bricks. For twenty quid :-D
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
@BrickDancer I had my surgery yesterday at 1500. Been up all night in pain and I am flying back to Louisiana to be with my father after he almost died Sat from a widowmaker heartattack. I don't think I am going to be very happy the next few days. About an 8 hr total flight/airport time) Was suppose to help with the Lynnwood store grand opening but can't now.

@LegobrandonCP....man, I missed getting to meet you as welll as the Lynnwood sets :(
Boy my days just get worse and worse. UGH!

The only GOOD thing is I think I am going to open my UCS R2D2 and bring it with me to work on. Maybe even my IF too, can't quite make myself break the seal on that one, The Burrows or the Ice Dragon set lol

Anyone got ANY GOOD NEWS that I can at least live vicariously through :)
  • caperberrycaperberry Member Posts: 2,226
Sorry to hear that @jadedanc how horrible
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
@capeberry Thanks...just trying to make it till my dr office opens up so I can call his nurse. His office is about an hour north of me (thanks US Army for finding an awesome surgeon but the distance is bad :) so we will see what he says. in a couple of hours

Picked up my Lego Batman Game today and the kind lady gave me 3 of the Lex Luthor Polybags! I sure spend enough money in that store haha
  • LegobrandonCPLegobrandonCP Member Posts: 1,917
I'm very sorry to hear that @jadedanc. Hope everything is OK and sorted out.

As for the mini store set perhaps we could trade for something if I actually do make it to the grand opening in time?

    @LegobrandonCP

I know where alot of marked down sets are in Louisiana lol......maybe they will be even cheaper when I get back down there tomorrow (IF my unit even gets their damn paperwork straight and quit being dumb... well you get the idea lol :/)
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
Popped to the arndale center to find the site of the new Manchester store. Can't wait for it to open now. Do they normally need helpers ahead of opening?
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
@cheshirecat I know for the Lynnwood store, many of us in the SEALug group made all of the Ribbon sets for display (I ended up with theater, flowers, birthday cake & pool party. I DO NOT recommend Pool party or Theater for anyone that doesn't have MILES of patience lol) as well as about 15 regular sets (QAR, SSD, etc) and this weekend for the 'hard' grand opening, they asked for as many helpers as we could get to help with the lines & giveaways as well as the big build with the Lego designer for a large Yoda build.
  • LegobrandonCPLegobrandonCP Member Posts: 1,917
Do you know which Master Model Builder will be at Lynnwood?
  • littletokilittletoki Member Posts: 519
@Jadedanc ~ *hugs* I hope you and your father feel better soon! It does sound like you're having a rough few days.

R2 and the Imperial Flagship should help you feel better - or at the very least, distract you! And remember, if you find some amazing clearance deals, you have a trading buddy in Oregon! :D
  • GoldchainsGoldchains Member Posts: 795
PIcked up my Lego Batman 2 game and Lex Luthor mini poly. Awesome. Also got some good news from the employee at Gamestop. Apparently they are going to do another special minifig offer on the LOTR Lego game coming out in October! Can't wait!

^ @Matthew, you did the trade with me originally just for the HP trolley but I found a few spare #30055 so thought I would include one as a gift. Sorry if you got confusused with it all. The Police Heli you sent me arrive fine too. Cheers
  • LegobrandonCPLegobrandonCP Member Posts: 1,917
So many choices, yet so little money.

I have set a budget for my Seattle trip to $200. What should I get? I really want the GE to go with my FB. But then there is the Shuttle Expedition along with the VW Camper. The R2-D2 looks cool too.

Btw, does Bellevue or Lynnwood have the MMV in stock?
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
@LegobrandonCP Prob better chance at Lynnwood. Their store is about 4x larger than Bellevue
  • jadedancjadedanc Member Posts: 1,302
@littletoki I already knew that lol
  • LegobrandonCPLegobrandonCP Member Posts: 1,917
@jadedanc Hooray! I totally forgot how small and tiny the Bellevue store was.

Had a great Father's Day with the family today. My wife and kids got me this awesome Star Wars book called "Darth Vader and Son." It's essentially a collection of comic frames done in the context of what would have happened if Darth had to raise a 4-year old Luke.

Received this morning - absolutely brilliant. Had a few moments laughing with colleagues in the office. Many thanks for the heads up on this.

    Back to work!

^^ ^^^ Glad to help. It was definitely one of the best Father's Day gifts I've received (although the new #10020 Santa Fe last year was stellar as well).

Just got back from a long family vacation in FL at Disney. Managed to make it over to the LEGO store in downtown Disney. I did not realize how huge that place would be. I was a bit overwhelmed. I mainly went to see the displays. The sculpture of the dragon fighting the knight is truly wonderful.

Enjoyed catching up on 'Resellers' thread. Want to start building Ferrari F1 (8157-1), but dizzy from painkillers.

With most things, pain is expected but usually doesn't happen. Except the dentist, where its promised and usually does happen.

80% of the way through my Jurassic Park Velociraptor enclosure. My young daughter is in charge of the dinosaurs!

  • princedravenprincedraven Member Posts: 3,764
    @richo that looks great!!
    Can I ask a question??
The path on the entrance looks like its 2x2 grey tiles (hard to see that well where i am at the moment), but they look level with the tan plates with no visible way of supporting them, or at least it doesn't look like there is anything underneath the first row! How have you achieved that look?
  • graphitegraphite Member Posts: 3,275
From the look on the side it appears it all might be attached to a grey baseplate. Probably just has those 2x2's hanging 1 stud over the edge. Or it may just be the angle that makes it hard to see the baseplate edge since they are thinner than a normal plate.
  • richoricho Member Posts: 3,830
    @princedraven,

    thanks!

It's all on a 32x32 gray baseplate with a lot of tan pieces for the sand around the enclosure. It looks to be hovering as I build models nearly always with the plate on a book (the star wars lego visual encyclopedia!). This way you can get firm purchase when building rather than on the carpet.

Just waiting on the odd bricklink order to finish this!

Oh man! I'm back on the West Coast, going to Seattle this weekend, BUT! I'm going with my mother (how 13 years old do I sound, I swear I'm an AFOL), who thoroughly disapproves of my Lego habit. No way in H E double hockey sticks will I get to sneak off to Lynnwood (even less of a chance if I tell her it's the opening weekend so we should go early!).

I'll be soooo close, too, at the Premium Outlets... I wonder if there's a way to convince my mother that a 30 year old female should be getting Lego for her birthday instead of a Coach purse... *cry*
  • JenniJenni Member Posts: 1,390
@khmellymel suggest that a perfect mother-daughter outing would be to see Brave on Friday night. If a movie about a mother trying to run an adult daughter's life doesn't help you may just have to tell her that your birthday is about you and what you like, not what she can boast to her friends about buying you. I'm not saying it's easy but speaking from experience it's worth it.

Go for lunch someplace near, then use the toilet excuse and run...
