OK folks this is a bit random. I'm at my in laws in Kettering ( The one in Northamptonshire UK not Ohio or Tasmania). Blocks magazine is out tomorrow but with the lack of WHSmith in town now - is there anyone living in the area that knows who stocks it. Thanks!

On Valentine's Day my wife complained that after 17 years of marriage the sex in our lives was getting less quality and less quantity.

I disagreed and said that the sets in our lives were recently of more quality and definitely getting a lot more quantity.

    I gave her #40236

    :D

Not from the area but you could try Sainsburys usually the larger ones stock it.

^thanks. The mags in the sainsburys here isn't a massive range. I will try. (fingers crossed!)

The second to last Bricklink order arrived, here's the clock tower so far! (This is just one of the five stories mind you!) I can already see how big this thing is going to be. Maybe too big? Nahhhh.
Looks like the top portion is 16 studs wide, that's very big!

Lol, the full thing will take up 3 32x32 baseplates!
  • bookmumbookmum Member Posts: 1,483
Well for future reference - Kettering Town Centre - Blocks magazine = sainsburys no, morrisons yes!! (it just doesn't feel natural for a town not to have a WHSmith).

Updated my BL wanted list with all the Batman minifig variations as I'm now on a crazy quest to collect them all.

I did not add up the prices I will likely end up paying for these; sometimes it's better not to know these things...

^ If you are buying other lego at 40-50% off RRP (Retail Rip-off Price), you can probably offset the expensive bits against the cheap bits. Giving an average purchase price of 30% - 40% off.
Or you just have too much money to care. :)

Well, the $40 deal for #75055 Imperial Star Destroyer that I was so sure of officially fell through. According to the seller, he never posted it for that price and think's I'm making it up.   *eye roll*

I knew it was too good to be true, but I was optimistic. That will teach me I guess.

On the flip side, I had a conversation with Mrs. Switch about Lego. I told her I thought she'd be a great builder. Her response, "Of course I would be!" Her frustration is not knowing what parts are out there, so she doesn't feel like she could build what she wants to build.

I've encouraged her to start playing around with LDD. Still not sure if this is a safe door for me to pry open; at least as far as our bank account is concerned...

Heard the happy news that my friend's five-year-old has hit The Lego Phase; there's nothing he likes better. I urged her to come to me when she wants to know where to get cheap Lego, the whole 'never pay full price' thing...

Nice.... I saw one that would also fit tft screen... but for what I run on my pie there was no need for one :) no mentioning it was 5x the price :)

    Status = Lego disappointment.

So I noticed the new speed champion sets are out on shop @ home. So I headed to my local Lego store hopping to pick some up only to find out that they did not get any.. The store employee told me that they are getting a huge shipment on Monday and to call in to see if they got them. Tempted to just order them online.

Got home to a package from @bravo to add yet another TLBM polybag to my growing collection. We will be building the Batwing later! And my wife and daughter picked up a grey 1x1 storage brick in Asda as a present.

Got a Saturday hunting charity shops for LEGO planned for tomorrow too.

Yesterday got my Bricklink order in so now I have a second Imperial Speeder bike from the Ezra's Speeder bike set. This one has the front end connection pieces that allow the front to slide in and out. So now I have 1 of each design variant, not doing a second Ezras bike though.

Found a new unopened 2011 SW Advent Calendar at a local antique mall, right price so I snagged it.
Still waiting for the 2012, 2013 and 2014 ones I ordered off Bricklink to arrive from overseas.

Went on [email protected] during lunch today and ordered The Phantom, total price Free.50 using my VIP points.

     Life is good.

I'm heading back to London tomorrow after a brief trip to the wilds of the shires (OK - northamptonshire - not that wild). Bit disappointed I won't be up here next month as there is a Lego Play Day at the towns museum!

  • bookmumbookmum Member Posts: 1,483
I was also pleased on this trip to manage to convert my friends 12 year old daughter into a lego fan. According to her mum she (and brother) have never been that interested before, even though mum would of liked it. Quote "but you've never bought me any actual sets". Anyway she was very happy building away.

    lego status, update.
not a lot going on. last week did move some sets around and put some set's away.
a part from that the only thin i doing right now that has anything to do with lego is saving up cash for the 2x VIP, and some "hard to find" lego set's with the 2x vip.
well and trying to slim down the set's i wish to own.
still after "Tower Bridge" and "Big Ban", but "Death Star" and "Disney Castle" are to big and to pricey!
i love to own them don't get me wrong. but i just have no room or the cash to spend on them is i wish to get other set's.
yes i could make room, and there is a bookshelf i wish to get soon. that will help a little with space.
also trying to make up my mind on what set's to buy. i know the main set i wish to get "DO", but i will have enough for 2 or 3 smaller set's (or i could get "AS" and 1 small set.) what to pick what to pick.
part from the set's that come out before i came back to lego, (after Town Hall led gone end of line.) so i have "PS", "PC", "PR", and "BB", and say you may have worked out that i need "AS" and "DO". i think i get "DO" 1st.
well this is a long post for me to make with little to know lego news to tell :P have fun all.

A good LEGO day toady. Built the Batwing polybag late last night, its brilliant with clever parts use of the single tooth piece in black for the points on the tail and wings. Trip to town yielded a big far zero on the charity shop front, but The Entertainer had some polybags in. Already got the sports car and FO Tie Fighter, but nabbed #30471

Back home and I've finally got my hands on the Star Wars Rebels Wookie gunship. After at least a dozen failed attempts on Ebay I've got a complete, but dusty version for just over £30.

The link I included in that post might shed some light on what it is, but you're already fairly close. It doesn't transform though ;o)

But if I had a pound for every time my avatar was called a transformer, I'd probably be able to afford the Disney Castle set by now... :oP

Having never contacted [email protected] customer service before, last week I had 'faulty' stickers in City Square and today I'm missing a 2x16 plate (#4211486) from my TIE Striker :-O

That's a really odd part to go missing. And I certainly didn't lose it!

Bag 4 was torn inside the box, and the instructions crumpled. So I think it's dodgy packing.

I've put a request in for a replacement. Let's see how long that takes compared to my as yet not despatched stickers!

Finally had enough brain to figure out what I did wrong building the Avenjet last week, so did a bit of rebuilding to fix it. Still need to call customer services about the non-fitting canopy; I ran into the same issue as @chrisalddin, and apparently it's been a problem on some X-wings too...

    odd.
what on earth is going on?
  • catwranglercatwrangler Member Posts: 1,894
What I find oddest is that, like you, I had one good and one bad canopy. My partner and I tried to see if the problem was caused by the canopy, the hinges or both, but it was hard to judge.
