Having now seen Moana I definitely want those sets!
I saw it yesterday and I totally agree! I also hope there will be more sets in the future like there have been with Frozen. A bigger Kakamora ship (maybe something around the size of the Piggy Pirate Ship from the Angry Birds theme) would be amazing, as would a set with a brick-built Tamatoa.
I loved that Kakamora ship, what you see in the LEGO set is almost an insult to it.
I'd also love a big brick built Te Kā set with a hawk Maui - I like what they've done with Te Kā in #41150 as a nice play feature, but a full body one would me so much better.

Tamatoa could make a great set, even if don't at a similar scale to Shelob in #9470. Also the huge boat (don't want to say much more for spoilers but I think you'll probably know which I mean from that) would make a great set.

I doubt there'll be any more Moana LEGO - even though I think it's technically a much better film than Frozen I don't think it's going to get anywhere near as popular - I'm just going to hope for a Moana minifigure in a Disney Series 2 CMF ;-)
I don't expect Moana to be quite as popular as Frozen at this stage, but I think it could come close. The real question is how much of that popularity can translate to toy sales. However, as far as LEGO is concerned, Moana might have somewhat of an advantage in that LEGO had the foresight to get Moana sets on shelves right out of the gate. The Frozen sets so far have all been capitalizing on residual popularity over a year after the movie's actual theatrical release. Even if Moana isn't still as hot as Frozen three years after its release, the idea of it still being popular enough for one or two more sets a year from now is not too far-fetched.

An advantage to getting more Moana sets in the future would be the designers getting another pass at characters who weren't perfectly realized in the first round. Maui isn't awful but would be improved by some tattoos on his back and possibly better printing for his grass skirt. Heihei is perhaps most badly in need of an update — he seems to be based on an earlier stage of the movie's development, in which he had a serious and judgmental attitude.

Plus, more Moana sets would let LEGO get more of their money's worth out of the new molds they introduced for the first two sets.

Dr. Strange is widely popular, has made $600m+ in box office and has a single $29.99 set.

My guess is that Lego's market research folks have already decided whether more Moana is on our horizon in 2017...

I think there's some difference there just in terms of how the Super Heroes and Disney brands have been handled so far. There have been VERY few new Super Heroes sets based on movies that have already left theaters, but the Disney/Disney Princess theme keeps on revisiting past movies like Frozen, Tangled, and even decades-old titles like The Little Mermaid.

In the very least, it wouldn't surprise me if LEGO released a Juniors set with Moana characters in the future, since they've already done so for Cinderella, Frozen, and The Little Mermaid.

The way the Marvel (and to some extent, the DC) Superhero line is handled is very interesting, especially when we realize that there are different sources to base the sets from, for example, from movies, cartoons, or comics, to name a few.

I think that somehow LEGO might not want to define or make seem that a superhero line is a 'superhero movie line', which is why they don't focus in movies only and add sets from cartoons (which are a welcome addition) and so on. If LEGO focused on movies, they would neglect on the cartoons, if they just focused on the characters (without basing them on either cartoon or movie or comic), they would lose the 'movie' appeal...and so on. It would also suck if they release a lot from a movie and also from other sources.

To summarize...I think they're doing the right thing in their approach, but it's still lacking in the amount of sets released. Let's hope Spiderman Homecoming brings us a GOOD wave of sets.

@Shib is quite correct. It's the bottom half of the #3860 box. Somebody sent me some parts in it a few years ago - I use it for emptying bags into when I'm building sets. So nothing exciting,  I'm afraid :-)

I'm afraid I'm all too aware of that :-S
I realised earlier that I had made a mistake in Book 1 and had to perform corrective surgery which entailed dismantling half the interior to get at the pins holding everything together - a right ruddy pain! And then forgot to clip the seat backrests back in place after reassembly. Succeeded after a bit of fiddling, fumbling and swearing :-)

After several quiet weeks on here due to lots of reasons things are looking up!

Christmas sets are out of storage and being built, secret Santa (here and lug) presents almost all done.  unexpected cashback payout and £10 eBay voucher has me browsing for sets to develop my display for next years planned (and yet to plan) shows.  Bumped into @lego_star this morning in the Glasgow store but didn't get the Caterham I was after :(  And after bit of delay managed to drop off the fairy bricks donation to CHAS \o/

But there have been a few lackluster Disney Princess sets (Jasmine, Aurora, Merida) that came and went.  I suppose there is also the glaring omission of non-Disney Princess sets.  No Wreck-It Ralph, Big Hero 6 or anything Disney/Pixar.

My comment above wasn't making the point that there would be no future sets - as there could very well be a few more.  I just don't see it as likely unless the characters resonate like Rapunzel, Anna and Elsa.

Lego stayed away from Suicide Squad, but coincidentially released a variety of non-branded sets that featured all of the characters.

It's a happy LEGO day in my house. Picked up vintage sets #6483, #6389, #6394, #1354, #5975, #7144 all new in the box! Also made a trip to the LEGO store and picked up #60051, #60152 and #60150. Now to find the time to build the newer sets.

Oooh @SumoLego the thought of a little lego baymax just sounds brilliant. Wreck it Ralph would be brilliant too. There is a little arcade game in one of new DC superhero girls sets and my daughter got excited by that little piece. The Princesses are a bit meh to be honest.

2 #8016 Hyena Droid Bombers admire the destruction they have wrought on the Grand Army of the Republic:

What actually happened: most pieces of #7675 AT-TE Walker not connected to the Technic frame disintegrated upon impact with the floor after making an approx 1.6m drop from a bookshelf... No evil cat to blame. Just an unstable book not wanting to go down alone and gravity.

    pulled apart 3 set's today.

    #75106 Imperial Assault Carrier.
    #75025 Jedi Defender-class Cruiser.
    #70815 Super Secret Police Dropship.

almost lost part of the dropship. took 20 mins of hunting for it, to find it.
also did some tidying up. made good use of the last Lego.com shipping box. to store set's that i had pulled apart and put in zip-lock bags.
had my normal flying CMF's. (there in a place that is easy to knock them off of.)
also had my normal hunt for the missing CMF part, (after i had knocked them off.)

last i am trying to stop my self from building any unopen sets, as with christmas well on it way, i need the space for the christmas display and i have last years WV Toy shop, on its way to me. that will get build soon.
should find a good display point for my Tie and A-wing set.

had a fun day with lego. even if it was just in the main pulling apart.

That does seem like the sort of box that would be reusable, similar from factor to Ideas boxes.
It would be useful to clean up if you stop in the middle of the bag, sometimes I have to pick up the table and put in a large ziploc bag anyway.
It would avoid losing pieces unless they get caught in the box folds.

@chrisalddin, I too started taking #70815 apart. Only I'll absort it into my parts collection.
I also dismantled #8649 Racers Nitro Menace and #4968 Monster Attack, so now I seem to have an lot of lime green Technic! :-)

Wow! I got the set number AND name wrong :-O
    #4958 Monster Dino.
I also own a medium motor now too for the first time.  It also has a sound brick, which I discovered can be screwed apart to change the LR41 batteries.  And I happened to have some spare batteries already.
Back to #70815 Super Secret Dropship, I'm quite sad to see it go, it's a lovely set.  But I can't keep it stored in a box in the loft forever, that's no fun either.

I got lucky with that one. A friend's kid has just entered his dark ages and wanted to offload his Lego to buy a Playstation, or something worthless ;-)

That's where I also got #8649 Racers Nitro Menace and some other nice sets, like #8652 Enzo-Ferrari and #7701 Exo-Force Grand Titan, both of which I'm keeping assembled.  I intended dismantling #4958 Monster Dino so I could reassemble it myself, but I've decided to leave it to another day when I've finished a couple of other projects that might use the parts.

I got the instructions for all of the above too.

I identified another one last night: #8681 Tuner Garage.  The stickers have turned to dust on the set, so it took me a while to get around to working it out.  The cars are still assembled and were kept separately with all his other little Racers, but the rest of the set was just a bag of bits and it doesn't have any rare parts to help identify it quickly.

^^ Looks a bit more refined than my mum's, decorated by me, a seven year old and a twelve year old.
Still got to do my own yet! Which will at least feature Lego baubles...

    I think yours looks great!
To be quite honest, I'd prefer an artificial tree, multi-coloured baubles and fairy lights, loads of tinsel, floss and snow spray. Not a great fan of colour-coordinated tree decoration :-S
