Sometimes presents are about something people will not buy for themselves.
In my case, LEGO-related, will be the Star Wars buildable figures; I don't hate them, but would rather spend my money on something else.

Maybe there's a theme that works for you in this regard?

@Speedman29 I am having a similar dilemma with my Xmas present. I was the one who bought it so I know what it is but the biggest question is because we are going to my in laws for Xmas and then me and daughter going to my folks on boxing day to stay a few days so if I build it I have just got to take it apart again, so do I even bother to take it with me. Should I leave it at home... what to do??
We're off to the inlaws in the morning and my brothers in the afternoon, there will be no time for building at either so it will stay at home. I have almsot three weeks off this year so I might start it the week before.

WEIRD. I logged in a couple hours ago and the message board was...different. Some category at the top said something like "Rejected Posts"  or something like that, can't remember exactly,I I do remember there was a pic of a Penguin Arctic Roller in there. Also saw a Private Club or Private Forum or something, again, I wasn't taking notes, probably should have been.

I don't log in from a desktop much, as here is where I do more work than play. But I was obviously not working I was playing. But I work for myself so...I figure I won't be firing myself anytime soon.

I am not sure if somehow I was seeing it the way admin sees it or something along those lines, OR if I am simply experiencing the first signs of dementia.

@stlux We've settled for me ordering it and her wrapping it.  That way I don't miss out on the VIP points.

@dspigel @Briking I would be happy to either get a gift card or order something for myself and then unwrap it on Christmas Eve, but neither option is acceptable for my wife. It needs to be a "proper" gift, and supposedly gift cards don't qualify... It also needs to be a surprise.
Again, I don't care, but as she does, I guess I also do care...

It's partially my own fault: I usually go a bit over the top and get her about a dozen presents (all shopping done since mid-November). She's very competitive, so she feels the need to do the same. Whereas I would be happy to just order #75827 Firehouse Headquarters, using her card if she insists, and call it a day ;)

@stlux - your wife and mine have a fair bit in common as far as presents go, it seems. A Christmas present has to be a wrapped surprise. And for some reason it has to be one more than I bought her... How she knows how many I've got for her is anyone's guess. Anyway, I posted a bit back that I had stopped buying Lego for myself (apart from a little Dimensions pack for a fiver) and that's the main reason. Didn't work in Manchester on Saturday, but that's a different story!

After being a Duplo free house for over a year we are going to have to get some more next summer. I guess I should have grabbed one of the $30 Walmart buckets but I wasn't thinking in those terms yet.
Does this mean you're expecting?   If so congrats!
    indeed! Thank you
Congrats. No need to get Duplo though; my kids went right into regular system Lego. @Legoboy still hasn't graduated from Duplo yet...poor lad.

@Pitfall69 Yeah maybe not...my take was the call on the field. If it was called short it wouldn't have been overturned either. It was close. Michigan has a more legit gripe on other calls for sure. I really wish they'd leapfrogged Washington into the Final Four.

Yeah my youngest pretty much skipped over Duplo because she wanted to play what the others were playing. And to anyone counting my plurals that means this is #4 so I guess that is official 'gee I guess they are in some sort of weird cult' range of family size.

I just realized- it has been about a decade since I built a large "structure" set.

I'm finding #60130 Prison Island very, very appealing at the moment...

Umm... You know those semicircles with images of thumbs on them? Well, if you push down on those...

You ruin a perfectly good box!

Only if you dress them identically. My four hate it when we do that. But we do get lots of space no matter how crowded the shopping centre is. Handy at Christmas and New Year sales :-)

    Edit: Also, congratulations!

there was a nikolaus promo yesterday. you could get a -20% discount on a whole purchase.
i m a working class hero.   7to5 erryday.  did go there at 5 in the evening to get my antman sets -20% just to see them gone!

I was seduced by the dark side and got another #60051, so that I can try to do an elevated rail in my little town (or, should I say, half street)...I think it's time for me to block myself from spending any more money until my birthday next year.

My #10220 Volkswagen T1 Camper Van turned up, with the #40223 Snowglobe and also a #5004389 Battle Station, as has been reported by people previously.

Sadly, although the shipping box was securely packed, #10220 had squashed #40223... :-(

You're not the first to report exactly that! Lego CS can get you a new one I believe, if you care for the box...

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm going to open the set, which will damage it further, although I do try to open boxes carefully with a sharp knife and then flatten them for storage.
