I found two copies of '8909 - LEGO Collectable Minifigures - Team GB' at my local Argos four years after release!

I'm extremely satisfied as I wanted to get the whole 'Team GB' series but at the time I only managed to get two. This was purely unintentional and it clearly caught me off guard. As soon as I laid my eyes on them I literally dashed towards them with a burst of excitement.

As you guys may know that these go for £15-£20 each (sealed) on the secondary market as they were a limited edition series and only available in the UK, therefore they are very valuable. I've already opened them! I could have gotten at least £30 back but to be honest the 2012 Olympics happened here plus I think they are cool. It's better to have the product than the cash in my opinion.

NB: I've realised that the Relay Runner's medal isn't printed, so I'll have to pick one off Bricklink. It's rather odd, it's has never happened to me before. Though it makes that particular Minifigure special now that I have opened it.

I spent most of today whacking out an entry for the "Create a Banner for Brickset" contest and I was quite surprised when I managed to finish it quicker than I thought! Dunno, but having pretty much free rein to do whatever design I wanted, and the thought of possibly having my work on top of Brickset for a short while got me all excited :o)

Ordered the baseplates I need to finish my flag mosaic (along with some extra 10"s, not sure what I'll do with those) I have nearly all the pieces. I'll double check what I've set aside and BrickLink the rest.
Pop Star collection coming along well, looking forward to displaying and playing with them them together.

@chrisalddin you're missing the point. I would understand a price increase across the board but two sets that are both  $69.99 in the US are £59.99 and £74.99 in the UK. That's a £15.00 difference! Based on exchange rates and taking into consideration any taxes the £59.99 price makes some sense. £74.99 does not in any universe.
We're being fleeced, pure and simple.

I might have missed a sale or something, but it's actually £0.01 *more* expensive at £75.00, so even *more* of a rip-off...

I did buy #21123 and #21124 at The LEGO Store in Stratford yesterday, so I enjoyed building those last night, while SWMBO was out with her friends for dinner.
The sets have been getting more complicated as time goes on and it's very noticeable, especially with #21124, that there's a greater use of plates and other bricks to create the more complicated structures and play features in them.
For #21123, I think I'm definitely going to re-do the Iron Golem in a similar way to Jang's re-interpretation, as the grey arm articulation doesn't look great:

Went into TRU, found #40086 discounted, and then succumbed and bought two series 15 CMFs (which turn out to be Shark Suit Guy and Animal Control Officer - that one I managed to feel out), whereupon they gave me a free polybag! It's Friends 30205 and I'm thinking about whether to trade it in the Marketplace forum or keep it for the new parts and colours. Also, I hadn't realised the minidolls were so tiny, so further temptation there... oh, and I signed up for a loyalty card, so the whole cycle will no doubt be repeated next time I'm in town.

just watched jangbricks review of #76051
and now i am finding it hard to ignore this set like i do most super hero set's.
what suck more is this set + this summers airport theme set's would pear up quite well. and i am already being tempted with them.
then again i am not made of money. we will have to wait and see what saving and offers i can pick up on set that are high on my "i have to have that set" list.
maybe i will find the cash, maybe not.
    only time will tell.

maybe i should stop watching Jangbricks videos. ..... Na... he's to fun to stop watching!
  • FauchFauch Member Posts: 2,679
I'm tempted by that one too, though I would prefer one big build, but even then, I think the quinjet looks better than the previous one. minifigs look good, and it's one of the rare super heroes set that isn't overpriced here.

Tweaked #41004 - added stands for the hairbrush and guitar.
Did more organizing for my flag mosaic. I already set aside the remaining parts, but today I inventoried and labeled those bags, while doublechecking on what I needed. Then I assembled the plate strips that will link the remaining baseplates.

Ahhhh. I remember those days. I paid my parents rent while I went to college. I worked enough that it did not hurt my studies. How old are you? How do you pay your parents rent if you don't have a car to get to a place to work?

Look on the bright side; you were bored the other day, now you have plenty to do now ;)

today i am waiting for my lego order to ship.
i am also working on V2 of my Moc of Palace Cinema.
    and it is slow going.
  • JudgeChuckJudgeChuck Member Posts: 1,583
@TheOneVeyronian I had a similar issue a while ago for the Minecraft (there's a surprise) gallery. I'd put in a simple little MOC for the Creeper's Crib challenge and found that two people had uploaded it as their own work. I emailed TLG CS as well and they removed them fairly quickly, so they do listen.

Managed to get an airport battle set with double points and hopefully the last pab I need for my Edinburgh Comicon display.  I have plenty of superheroes but a bit lacking in volume of enemies.  need a good villain vehicle/focal point. Any ideas?

first 2 orders showed up today.
    at 7.01 pm.
sat waiting all day. was not fun. i hate waiting.
third order shipped out from lego today about 5pm.
i just started to build #10232 Palace Cinema to get a feel for how it is normally built.
got to step 11 of the main build of book 1, (i have skipped the car build. i will do that later.)
when it is done, then i will pull most of it apart after i have spent some time admiring it.
and start work on the 3 set's in to 1 MOC i plan to do of #10232 Palace Cinema.
also now have my last #10218 Pet Shop. (well i say the last. if i see a good offer on it at Toys R Us or Smyths and have the cash to get it. i will. it's that good of a model.) and i plan to use that to build a MOC of Pet Shop.
but will most likely need left over parts from #10232 Palace Cinema MOC to pull the #10218 Pet Shop MOC off. so #10232 Palace Cinema will be first to get its MOC.

i am also taking images, for a post i plan to make on what i did/How to Build a MOC of a Modular. i say plan as i may abandon the idea. as it is only an idea right now. and not all ideas see the light of day.

news on the new water heater. the unit it self will be dropped off on Friday, and there coming to fit it on Monday. it is planned to take 2 days.
all i have to say after seeing the price. i am relay happy i don't have to pay for it.
btw sleeping bag's are relay good for sleeping in when you have no heating system.
    However! "I AM STILL COLD!."

well. that was my busy day.

Due to a WTB post for the Iron Man Centurion fig that I casually checked for it on ebay just now and was shocked. Totally misjudged it thinking that it would drop to ~$20 range like the previous figs from the initial ~$30+ mark when it first came out. Instead it's climbing quickly to $45+ with very few listings. Even on BL, there's barely any listed from US sellers.

Also peeked at SDCC SH figs values and was very shocked with the 2013 series already at ~$900 levels. I'm sad I sold off my 2 extra Black Supermans too early a few months ago at $500 a piece. Grr!!

And the other post about #10188 Deathstar sticker sheet reminded me I had to pick up an extra still, which just arrived.
