Going to visit a good friend today that I've known for years, she's also an AFOL :) so while all our children go off to their bedrooms to play whatever game it is that means all the toys are out all over the floor, we get to sit and drink tea and talk lego :)

I think I'm all Legoed out. The big new releases don't interest me. My hoarding over the last 12 months has come to a head. I've no space. I'm tripping over boxes in my shed. I've got parts coming out of my ears and no realistic way of sorting them right now. All those Bricklink orders I've aquired for *that special project* and *I'll do that one day* builds are still in their jiffy bags.

I'm still combing the forums, but less and less catches my eye. I think some time out from buying and building might do me some good. Perhaps some selling to downsize might be a good idea and get me a bit more focused on certain themes.

I am still building the Ewok village. Its taken 14 months to open the box and get to bag 7. No time, small children and a very enthusiastic 5 year old means I end up doing more of his lego than mine! My final bricklink order came today though which means I can start on my own versions of café corner and green grocer once the ewok home is complete (that'll be in another 14 months I expect)

@iso3200 while I'm with you on lack of interest in upcoming sets I'm taking advantage of that to think of MOCs, I got quite out of my comfort zone this year by making something that moves! It's been fun.

After your lovely classic space MOC I'd be really sad if you gave up LEGO altogether. MOCing is a great way to cut down on your loose piece inventory. This is my primary motivation most days :).

But as a prior beneficiary of your downsizing I'll be happy to tell myself that it helps you focus :).

Was able to track down these things at Toys R Us in Greenville, NC. My daughter's Ninjago themed birthday was at Chuck E Cheese s today. It was awesome! My wife has all the cool Ninjago cake pictures on her phone :P

I disassembled my park MOC to free up a 32x32 baseplate. I rebuilt it on the edge of a curved road plate and tweaked the color scheme.

Back working out more trades.  I may finally be coming to the end of filling gaps in my collection.

(Which, until I joined Brickset, I had no idea existed.)

And had some fun opening Series 15 blind packs.  Only one Shark Guy and three Spacemen, but very happy nonetheless...

Used that 32x32 baseplate for a US flag mosaic with 1x1 stars.
Starting on one with 5x5 stars - have a couple 48x48 baseplates but will need to get more of those later.
Put some damaged parts on BrickLink.

Bought Friends advent calendars off Amazon Warehouse deals. This is triple-awesome because they're discounted (obviously), have interior bits I would've wanted to put in buildings anyway and other bits can be sold, and the calendar trays are my favorite for sorting bits and storing Dimensions characters. Win-win-win!

I understand Amazon Warehouse Deals can be really hit or miss on quality - any issues besides a damaged box?
  • mr.pigglesmr.piggles Member Posts: 325
I've never had an issue aside from packaging damage. Some boxes were wrecked, some things were pristine aside from a sticker on the box.

Good to know. I'll consider Warehouse Deals, then.
I've heard about missing parts, but that could happen with any dishonest returns that are resold.

I'm quite lucky, bought some drastically marked down sets at our local TRU clearance sale 4 months back with obvious damaged box conditions and turns out all the parts in them are complete, including the minifigures.

Some others who bought other sets like the Helm's Deep were missing all the minifigures, though they already expected that and still bought it (at very low price) just for the grey bricks in the set.

I am waiting for double VIP points to buy Ghostbusters HQ and Batman Classic Batcave.

In the meantime playing around with different layouts for my recently acquired train LEGO sets; bought all current three sets + train station these past 2 weeks on sale, Amazon points, and Bing rewards :)

I have no room for them, so it's foam tiles on the carpet in the middle of the living room for now.

^ 121270 pieces, but some of that is extras of a few sets for reselling, although it also doesn't include a few boxes of loose bricks that we've been given.

I, *nods head* that, i have.
after double points, it will slow down for a time.
i also have almost run out of stuff to sell off to raise cash with.
but after double points time. i should have all lego set's sold by lego [email protected] that have been out for sometime and are at risk. there are some set's i like to have but will probably not end up getting down to cost of set, Lack of room to do the set justest. or the loss of interest in the set. (or in the case of Scooby Doo theme getting pushed down the list by summer wave of Nexo Knights.)

(this next bit was hard for me to put in to words so sorry if you can not follow what i am getting at here.)
down to lack of room it looks like i going to have to get 2x Palace Cinema, and mod them to a corner that turns so i can put it in the corner of my table. its all well and good making a looping street block. but my table is next to two walls. the Moc will let me display the set with a 'L' shape with the buildings facing in and not facing out like the corners are done by lego.

now just wish you could buy road base plates in ones not set's of 2 i only need 1 turn, and no cross roads. and alot of straight road.

I think that a lot of people wish that as well. I have emailed TLG CS about this issue and got a nice reply that they would pass it on to their product people. The only way to change things is to keep raising the issue.

I can understand why they might want to sell road baseplates in sets of 2, but why on earth would I want 1 crossroad for every straight??? 1 t-junction for every curve? Sell straights as a pack of 2, crossroads and t-junctions together and a set of curves in a 2 pack... OK, they'll sell far more straights, but the current way is just robbery...

You could always build a curb over two of the cross roads to make layby's for the hot dog stands coming out.

Yes, there are, of course, options.

However, if I want to make an oval, of let's say 4 curves and 4 straights, which is a fairly obvious thing to do, I'm going to end up with 4 t-junctions and 4 crossroads as well... even if I buy just 2 packs of straight + crossroad, I'm going to end up with a lot of lay-bys in my setup... ;-)

I've seen it done on many occasions with t-junctions, which don't look bad at all. Not sure about crossroads though.

With the amount of sausages floating about on this site you can never have enough lay-bys.  ;)

The last pictures of this being done to good effect (admittedly with t junctions) were on page 137 of this very thread by @Speedman29

Having the same road problem. Looking for a road 5 baseplates long so have to use one curve coming 'out' at one end, a t junction, 2 straight and a crossroad. Then going to have to do a lot of covering up!!

i am pre-planning it in LDD. i already scrapped one idea when it end up needing more parts then 2 copy's has. and i not even finished the ground level. this time i had a better idea for what will be the back wall. if i can get it right then i can do it. if not the back wall is going to get a new paint job. what is it then call a room with one wall one color but the others a 2nd color? i know the word just can not spell it starts with F. ends in wall. :) it is 2 words.

Following up on the flag mosaic from last night
Figuring out what pieces I need to finish and setting them aside if I have them.
Found some old logo bricks, some worn LEGO, and a couple knockoffs. (I often end up organizing the piece stockpiles involved in a project)

My Rebrickable number as of today.

Though I'm pretty sure a lot of AFOLs don't have time to enter the brick numbers into Rebrickable, so in reality my ranking will probably get pushed back into the hundreds if not thousands.

My original aim is to achieve 1 million bricks owned, but with the current state looks like quite difficult as I'm running out of space, and funds too :(

Yeah the road packs are annoying. But I understand why Lego does it. But there are definitely uses for the extra cross road plates... I'm thinking of using them for the main section of an airport.

dont have room for a airport.
if i did do a airport there be no room for my street. or room for me to build new stuff.
i can see a airport tacking all of my table.
