@chuxtoybox, clearly you haven't watched either of those cartoons I mentioned, because Cap can & does throw his shield hard enough to hurt, even in zero-g, just ask the Kree. :P

Wouldn't Captain America need more than breathing apparatus to survive in space?

    Like what?
Like a SPACE SUIT! If Stark can make Cap a space suit that fits just like tights, why can't he design a sleeker suit of armor for himself?

That picture is in space, right? How is Cap throwing his shield? Even with super strength I don't think he can throw it in zero gravity with such velocity that the guy shooting the laser beams out of his eyes has to worry.

    Silly LEGO box designers.

But you don't need a space suit in space. Not if you don't care about the exposure to radiation. Which he wouldn't as he can heal fast etc. And he can throw his shield just as hard as he can in gravity, the problem would be moving backwards once he had thrown it and throwing it accurately as you spun around. But he IS captain America!

Arguing about realism in SUPERHEROES is possibly the stupidest thing I've seen (since Donald Trump on newsnight yesterday).

i hope my wet firetemple is ready for buildup in the evening.

2 days on the heated floor should make those bricks dry!
  • tecjamtecjam Member Posts: 255
@brumey: Do you tumble them to try and dry off most water first? Any bricks I've washed, I've been really suprised how fast they dry once I've given them a spin in a salat tumbler and then laid them out on a clean dishcloth.
  • matticus_bricksmatticus_bricks Member Posts: 651

Captain Marvel should be on the outside of the ship and Captain America should be on the inside of the ship.
That's because TLG always has the female characters doing boring things like piloting, while the male characters get to kick butt. Just look at Black Widow, always the Quinjet pilot, even though she specifically says in the movies she doesn't know how to fly one.

    didnt tumble them...

just a bowl of warm soap water and an old soft toothbrush.
washing away the soap with cold water after some brushing with the brush!

dont have a salad tumbler. since my water here has lots of limestone or chalk (not a native speaker) i was afraid to get white residues and even considered using distilled water to clean them form soap afterwards....

was looking good yesterday! will come home later!

^ None of my LEGO is hidden per se, but the boxes are all in the loft, protected by plastic bags and spiders and the LEGO itself is all neatly organised in storage containers, so she doesn't know exactly what I have. She knows that it's a lot (all things being relative), given the size and number of containers.
I tend to build a few models at a time from a particular theme and then disassemble them before building different ones, so there's never much on display all the time.
My modulars (only 3 of them at the moment) are a different matter, as they are on a shelf in my study permanently, however, they are covered by a cloth, to prevent dust, most of the time.
Having said all that, now that I am only missing #924 from my Classic Space (pre-1981 change to white, trans-blue and trans-green, so including #6801 and #6822) collection, I have a hankering to get them all out and built, which might raise a couple of eyebrows... ;-)
It is EXACTLY the same for me at home.  My wife knows of my "extensive" collection, but has no idea as to "how much" that really is.  None the wiser they say eh?

About as stupid as adults obsessed with a toy.

^No far stupider. That would be like being obsessed with superheroes, which is not the same as trying to force realism into something that is fundamentally not real.
  • MattsWhatMattsWhat Member Posts: 1,643
^But if you read the argument we were actually taking about real world physics. That's nothing to do with the superheroes, they just happened to be the ones obeying the rules (or not).
It's probably the equivalent of people who are obsessed with a toy arguing over whether MS is a modular or not. And that happens all the time.
  • cheshirecatcheshirecat Member Posts: 5,331
This has the potential to become an even stupider argument, so i'm backing out, slowly and without turning my back on the crazy comic kidz.

Here's some more physics defying LEGO box art for you:

76027 Black Manta Deep Sea Strike
I could be wrong on this one though. Can you spot what I think is impossible? It has nothing to do with any of the fantastical elements, such as Aquaman breathing under water, or the flick-firing missiles.

  • bandit778bandit778 Member Posts: 2,379
Slowly stepping round the above posts so that I avoid getting caught up in the arguement, am quite chuffed, just got the credit card bill from the purchases in Germany and it turns out I managed to get #75049 snowspeeder , #21304 Doctor who ideas set and a large Pick a Brick cup for only £84.79 ( + free E7 C3PO and the gingerbread house). I know it's not the saving that some have got on sets but for 2 sets and 2 giveaways that I really wanted that I didn't expect to get just yet, I am really pleased.

^he would be wearing a weight belt as divers usually do, so I will give them that. But his handcuffs.. I assume they must be made of a very light metal.. Maybe one of the alkali metals in fact. So why are they not exploding is the question... Seems like it would have been easy to connect them the right way and avoid that question.

I have been starting to put together a modular / Christmas scene and it has become very clear that I need a lot more white plates!
It looks like Christmas in England: Lucky to have a splodge or two of snow, which has already turned to slush... ;-)
I'll add Santa's Workshop and a couple of others and hopefully that will help a bit, otherwise I am going to have to raid my Minecraft Snow Hideout and grab all the white bricks / plates from there.
Yes, yes, my study is an utter mess, I know... Apologies. ;-)

I think you have Cap mixed up with Wolverine and I don't think Wolverine would be able to heal fast enough to fight off radiation without taking a lot of damage.
  • MattsWhatMattsWhat Member Posts: 1,643
^no, Cap has skills at a cellular level hence looking the same for years and years. And the radiation wouldn't do anything that quickly. Sun burn in a few minutes kind of stuff (depending on where on space you are). Cancer I assume wouldn't be a problem for either of them. The Cap is wearing his suit so therefore let's assume he has a bit of protection from some of the radiation and isn't spending a long time outside. His biggest concern would be vacuum induced flatulence.

I am spending today making the basic landscape of my Winter Village.
I'm beginning to think I should have done this before building all my sets. :)
Although moving everything around on my table has given me some fresh ideas about where to place things.

Today, I gave a private "tour" of my LEGO collection for a young man who didn't believe that older people collect/build LEGO. He said his friends make fun of his LEGO and that he is too old to play with LEGO. I quickly put that to rest ;)
I would have told him that his friends were right and that he should give all of his LEGO to you.

To be clear, it wasn't a glamorous "tour". I have seen many Bricksetters set ups at home and mine is mostly in storage and my set-up is at our place of business. It just felt good to keep a joung man collecting and hopefully from going into his "Dark Ages" :)

I was posting to the wrong page!  I suppose the comment could still fit...

(The box art for the Thanos set needs more explosions.  The SW box art has random explosions all over the place.)

Although, I would not be surprised if @Pitfall69 had some pyrotechnics to help set a potential Dark Ager straight...
