The LEGO Batman Movie

I have not seen a tread for this topic, so I am going to make one now for the future. As most of us know, the LEGO Batman Movie will come out next year ( February 10th to be exact ) and we have already seen two teaser trailers and one trailer. We have also seen some set pictures for next year, so feel free to talk about anything related to this topic.

And on a side note, a new trailer will come out tomorrow! :D

Mad Hatter, Firefly...this film will help us get more figures, but I don't understand where some of the more basic peeps are at...Ventriloquist and Scarface?

I don't think I have been more excited for a line of sets than this.

Any ideas as to what we might be getting in the CMF line for the movie?

I just love the trailer. And all the LEGO's that I will have to buy.

Well, I've just seen the first trailer, and I'm totally going to see this at the cinema!

I'm one of those that heard about the first LEGO film, and thought 'yeah... that's gonna be a bunch of wank'. Ended up checking a trailer out of curiosity, laughed loads, and turned it off before the end to avoid spoiling the film!

Yeah, I was a temp scriptwriter there for a few days. I thought I was on a permanent contract but then I was suddenly escorted from the building for some reason.

  • Well, there goes my January budget.  The Scuttler is just on the edge of silly, but the bat design is kind of appealing - unlike the ungainly Batmech from the Grodd set I can see the Scuttler having its place tucked away up the back of the Batcave behind all the Batmobiles (come to think of it, I wonder if it'll hang from the ceiling).  I'd have got it for the minifigs anyway, but still.

I really like the Killer Croc with the classic LEGO crocodile/dragon head. And the Clayface. I am not familiar with Calendar Man or Kite Man or Tarantula or Magpipe, though. What are their stories?

    Off to Wikipedia...

Calendar Man is a minor Batman villain who is known for committing crimes that correspond with holidays and other significant dates. One of his best-known appearances is as a supporting character in the critically-acclaimed story arc Batman: The Long Halloween.

Kite Man is another minor villain who uses kite-themed weapons and gadgets. Pretty typical "theme villain", all things considered.

Tarantula is a minor spider-themed anti-hero generally more associated with Dick Grayson/Nightwing than with Batman. She's a somewhat controversial character due to a non-consensual sex scene with Nightwing in the comics, but obviously I doubt this version of the character will make any sort of reference to that.

Magpie is an EXTREMELY minor super-villainess jewel thief.

    Hope this helps!

My kids will love these sets.  I feel no need to buy any of these sets, nor collect the figs.

(I am interested as how they do a CMF series, if they do a CMF series.)

    Where is a Bat-Copter???

That Calendar Man is supposed to be the same as The Long Halloween and Dark Victory? Umm...wow. That was a really dark murderous bad guy, not the one with a calendar cape and forehead.
^ And that is a great stab at making Kite Man legit. Thanks for the page and for the info!
  • ShibShib Member Posts: 5,469
It's not meant to be the same Calendar Man, it's meant to be a LEGO Batman Movie universe Calendar Man, of course it's going to be more of a comedy approach!

"I like to fight around." kudos LEGO Batman team.

Also, if this wasn't a LEGO forum I would've thought Kite Man and Calendar Man were from the Rockman series.

Time to start catching up on this thread with some fairly recent LEGO news:
By now, most people should know about the Gladiator Batman in the activity book

Then, reviews were starting to come in from Jangbricks and Just2good,
And now, the LEGO Batman movie sets are now available! :D

Unfortunately I don't have a clue, this was recently posted on Eurobricks. If I were to hazard a guess though, I would say anywhere between £29.99-£34.99 (Hopefully it isn't comparable in price to the Joker Lowrider). :-D

That's a fantastic set. I've been wanting to use (or see somebody else use) those balloon pieces as fairings on a car for some time! And this one pulls it off brilliantly!

However, it's a bit frustrating that both the figs in that set seem to be duplicates of ones from the Batcave set, unless they have alternate faces. I feel like I'm going to want to keep my spending in check with this theme, since there are so many other themes I enjoy (Elves, Nexo Knights, and Ninjago) still ongoing. And sticking to sets with one or more figs I don't have is one of the techniques I typically use to keep my LEGO budget in check.

FBTB has a really good review of the Batmobile:

  • Arctic Roller wow.  Between this and the Lowrider, for once it's the rogues who have the sweetest rides in Gotham (I mean I'll get the Batmobile anyway, but it's just a solid 3 out of 5 for me).

Been a busy morning (or night wherever you live,) but first of, the LEGO minifigure series bag cover was revealed:

And then the LEGO store January Calander shows that we have two different "events" and a cool promo! :D

The primary function of this set is astounding!

Much like comics exaggerate the action on print, the LEGO designers have managed to replicate that with the wheels!

Man I do love the design work I'm seeing in TLBM stuff...concept wise. The takes on the characters are great. Set designs are cool. I am really looking forward to the movie. Ordered the low rider and Batmobile at full price but I think I'll have to wait a bit (if I can control myself) and look for some deals on the rest...it's a ton of great stuff.

I should project what the total annual cost is going to be to collect this line...or maybe I shouldn't. :)

Hard to say who that is, quite a generic looking character, most likely someone involved with either GCPD or ARGUS - if the skin tone was different I'd guess at Amanda Waller
