Ebay trouble with a sealed set missing an insane amount of pieces? Need advice.

I had a few of the new Holiday Calendars for the free gift of October arrive and I weigh all my sets to make sure nothing crazy is wrong with them.  And out of the few that I got I put one together and it was complete.  Same weight as the one I listed on ebay.  I have a buyer that says he opened it and it is missing 40 pieces one message 50 pieces to ebay and has torn the instructions up for his kid to put together during the Holidays.  It's not a big deal to me money wise but just the way they talked to me and talked about me to ebay.  Any advice on how to proceed?  I know something is amiss in this situation.  I did ask if the shipping box had any damage and they said everything was fine when they opened it.

That holiday countdown calender can't have all models built at one. Lego own sites says build and then dismantle and build the new model the next day. I think the supposed missing parts they want are these such pieces.

I bet that's what it is.  I didn't think of that being the reason.  I just thought they were literally missing all of those pieces and that didn't make any sense to me.

Yeah let them know it clearly states 24 in one. I wouldn't let them take it any further.
