Let the speculation begin! I'd like something that calls back to #10182 - Cafe Corner, not a re-release something that reflects it's design in some capacity to 'celebrate' the '10th Anniversary!'

    Is it called "Assembly Square"?

Second highest piece count next to Town Hall. Looking forward to the announcement.

As mentioned in the linked thread: The date is likely January 4, not April 1. And if the price is kroner, it's considerably more expensive than the typical modular.

Considering the name (and possible cost), I wonder if this is something that fits inside a square of the existing modulars. If you count Market Street, there are four corner buildings and seven normal buildings. This is enough for a square with two normal buildings on each side with one gap. This set could be an entrance/building that fills that gap and a large plaza/building on four baseplates in the middle. It could be configurable in a way that makes it appealing even to those who don't have enough buildings to make a square.

Are we sure it's not just a photo up?
    Photoshop? Doesn't look like it.

Maybe a shopping center? Something better than the GE?
  • gmonkey76gmonkey76 Member Posts: 1,829
Could be a park with a bandstand/gazebo. Give someplace for the mayor from the townhall to tell the city folks what kind of police fire units he's spending there tax dollars on. There could be midway/carnival gaming boths, food stands, full park for the kids.

It's definitely going to be the Corner Death Star UCS modular. No doubt we'll all get our hopes up and then be crushed with disappointment at the actual set. Unless 2017 is going to be a year with fewer disappointments? Fingers crossed!

I've also just found out that my VIP points expire on December 31st, and I was specifically saving them for the January 1st modular. Typical >:-/

@gmonkey76 Will the people riot against the Mayor as a protest at the lack of hospital facilities? 'More medics! Less fire/police!'

^^ A hospital is not essential in a city with no crime or fires;)

^Right, because incidents and  accidents never happen!

Yeah, but there's going to be casualties when there's a Smaug dragon attack. It's pretty inevitable.

@GeordiePaul Lord Business doesn't allow dragons in his city

^^ I'd like to see Bad Cop and the Micromanagers try to stop Smaug high above Market Street. That modular would be destroyed. Huzzah!

^^All I know is that the few Lego people I have from the 70's still look in excellent health, still have a healthy yellow hue and they have never been to the Dr.

    Awesome! Hopefully not a hoax.

Seems like something to put in the middle of your city/town. Maybe its some sort of amphitheater surrounded by a park/water feature.

I kinda hope it is a hoax. It wouldn't fit in my line of modulars

Perhaps it's a re-release of all the modular buildings so far, hence the price tag :-P

Strange that the price has no currency symbol. If it is in Danish Kroner, why is all the text in English? I'm thinking that is the number of pieces, not the price.

It will probably end up being more rectangular than square.

Is it definitely for real? It seems to be very informally written - is it really the 10th year or is someone trying to suggest that the Market street isn`t really a modular? Also, the date suggests April fools day as the release date.....?!
  • dougtsdougts Member Posts: 4,110
Cafe Corner was release in 2007, so 2017 would indeed by the 10 year anniversary, and the 11th annual set (plus MS as a 12th set, released the same year as CC)

Ultimate Modular has me thinking this will allow far more customization out of the box than previous offerings. I am imagining multiple options for arranging floors and buildings or perhaps even 3-n-1 options to build different things. The way it was written indicates it won't be just a typical building with a single purpose or look. 2017 is certainly looking up in any case!

"Assembly Square". Maybe it's not a place for minifigs to assemble but where minifigs assemble Lego sets. In other words it's a helicopter or hot dog factory...or both, with each on separate floors of a building and a designer's studio on the top floor.

2500 pieces including 200 sausages and 50 rotor blades. Over 100 stickers for the designer's studio alone.

It's simply the picture from the back of Detective's Office. Why Detective's Office...
@jmeninno  Yes they do.  I think after two years.
31st December, two years after you get them, which can mean almost 3 years. You're sent an email if they're about to expire - about nowish.

It looks like a template intended for customisation, with that "ONE LINER" bit - and maybe something intended for retailers or Lego's internal PR people rather than the public. Though if so, it'd be weird for it to have got out like this.

To celebrate 10 years they will be rereleasing  the first modular
  • brownbricks720brownbricks720 Member Posts: 47
Im expecting a UCS modular for the 10 year anniversary. The story can be: Darth Vader is settling down after controlling the galaxy for awhile. The bottom store will be stormtrooper outfits, blasters, lightsabers, and other droids. The upstairs will be an apartment with a full sized kitchen where he likes to cook for his son Luke. He also hosts dinner parties where Han Solo and his friend Chewy come to eat a delicious meal.

This will become such an iconic set almost as popular as the death star. Then for 2027 the 20 year anniversary of the modulars they will re-release it.

Sigh. I'm never gonna get a PP am I. Curse my PPless existence.

I hope this thing is cool, because waiting another whole year for something else to be revealed is gonna suck otherwise.

A PP would definitely be fun to play with once erected. I am sure there are people that have added their own PP to their town/city. I am sure, if you asked, they would let you come over and play with their PP.

In the meantime, you can play with your "Good Morning Bilbo" until LEGO releases a PP; that would certainly be a climax to your year :)
    Bravo.

No crime?  That is exactly what someone on Al's payroll would say.  I've been to the DA, I know exactly what's going on in this city.  What we need is some law and order to stamp out this type of corruption.

Anyway, this sounds quite interesting.  I can't wait for more details to come out.

I might not even need to visit people and play with their PPs. I think maybe if people with PPs let me see theirs, I could get something going. (I don't have a Good Morning Bilbo, so my mornings are mediocre! Or just not plastic-filled. (I can't word that right ew.))
