Moulding errors on bricks

Oddly I couldn't find a thread to discuss these - maybe they are actually really rare!
My son was building #40203 Vampire and Bat yesterday, but couldn't get the grey legs (4x http://brickset.com/parts/4500975) to stay in place.

Looks like of the 4 bricks, 3 have the "lug" inside the bottom on the vertical edge, rather than inside the sloped edge. This pushes the bricks too far towards their vertical edge, so 2 vertical edges can't sit next to each other on 2 studs.

Pics hopefully show:
1) vertical edges downwards, showing 3 lugs (on the 1st, 2nd & 4th) - 2 & 4 are a little worn from where we tried to push them into place.

2) vertical edges upwards, showing 1 lug in the correct position (on the 2nd one)

3) Not perfect focus, but when attached to a brick, the 2nd one in is the only one that is flush with the brick. The others all stick up (which pushes them away from other vertical edges).

They're pretty rare-- if I had to guess, I'd guess it was a mold assembly problem that didn't get caught.

I recall one in the early 2000s in a Harry Potter set, where the bottoms of the spiral staircases were incorrectly molded, causing the staircases to line up very poorly:

I'd report it to LEGO.  They may already know, and they might be able to send you replacements-- but maybe they haven't noticed yet, either!  Best to tell them.

I've already ordered replacement parts, and tried my best to explain the problem in the 80 characters allowed!
