Lego Minifig "gold"

The Minifigure Pharaoh (S2) was clearly portrayed with golden hat and golden staff (http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=8684-16). When I got the minifig the staff was not gold-sprayed at all, just this dull gold coloured plastic mold. I wrote Lego Service, but didn't get an answer.

Was it the same for any of you?

I believe all the staffs are the same dull gold plastic. I agree it's misleading by the promotional photos, but TLG obviously takes liberties since the minifigures aren't full opposable, either.
