Volkswagen Beetle, set # 10187

Hello, I am a mostly a Lego technic builder and I have the Volkswagen Beetle, set # 10187 that I have rebuilt several times. The reason .... the bumpers keep falling off and the roof comes off with the slightest movement. Is there a way that I can have these pieces stay together without resorting to model gluing them together? I would like to in the future be able to tear in down and rebuild it on my own terms, not because someone touched it and pieces fall off. Thanks for any input on this issue, Howard

I have the same model and have had it from new.  I have to say, I have never had a problem with the roof but with the bumper only being held on by a clue of studs, it's not uncommon for the ends to get caught or nicked on its ends to lever it off.  Only if it gets snagged on something though.  Wouldn't happen if simply rolling across the floor.

It's sounds to me in your case yours are a little more fragile than that so I wonder if changing the relevant pieces over with newer ones might give you a little more clutch.  Failing that, a small tweak to the design to increase the number of studs being used to secure them is in order.  Wouldn't be difficult and barely noticeable.

I also have the set. The bumpers are fragile but I've never had a problem with the roof.
