Listed but unused parts in Minecraft "The Ender Dragon" set

I'm currently building Minecraft #21117 "The Ender Dragon".
Bag 1 includes 2 (plus 1 spare) #3005741 "Round Plate 1x1 Transparent Red" parts.
These parts are listed in the inventory at the back of the instructions but aren't used anywhere in the building steps.
I checked thru the instructions over and over!

Are they there to create a red stone torch? If so, why do they not mention that anywhere?
This isn't particularly important but it is bugging me. :)
I've spent sometime with Google seeing if anyone mentioned the unused parts but couldn't find any references.

Does anyone know any background on why they provided (and listed) but didn't use these parts?
Has anyone noticed the same thing in other sets?

After building mine I just decided to put them together inside the Ender egg.  I scoured the book looking for any other possible place for them.

What are we waiting for? Let's get a conspiracy theory started! The obvious one would be... a blatant attempt to increase the part count to justify the price, but surely we can do better. How about, "How long do you think we can make LEGO fans look through the instructions trying to find where these go?" "Ha ha, let's do it!"

I think inventory for helm's deep say there are 2 dark red capes, but only haldir actually wears one.
