I'm planning my Fairy Friday for 10th Feb because it's the last day of term. And now I've written this on a public forum I going to have to do it - oh yes, that's exactly why I've posted it on a public forum.

You're nutters, but you're brilliant, generous, warm-hearted, wonderful nutters :-)
Well done guys, an amazing feat.

We had a really fun time doing it. Of course it sets the question, is more than six possible......

So many factors to consider with time lost to travel the biggest followed closely by the fact you can't just turn up to a Children's Ward and knock on the door. Well you can but it won't be the warmest of welcomes. Still later in year, possibly a school holiday when the traffic is a little lighter, who knows!

Fairy Friday will be on the 24th Feb for us at QMC Nottingham.
I'll pick up the left over pieces of cake on the following Monday. :)
It gives the weekend workers a boost with some leftover cake to eat.

Unfortunately I'll be too busy to do our usual Lego Raffle, but LUG Notts have already donated £100 and about £150 of Lego sets.

Wonderful news :-) This folks is why we visit the QMC Nottingham every year. Rewarding the effort people are putting in!

Today was Fairy Friday at my work...
As usual, a band of volunteers stepped up to help me put on a nice choice of baked delights. And as usual it really didn't last long!!

Having issues with photo uploads again :-(

The glamour of mosaics. @ame_uwagi sat with around 120,000 bricks to strip and sort!

@Anonymous - thanks! I made the peanut butter cake, toffee cupcakes (with yellow faces), chocolate cupcakes with lime curd, and cheese and sundried tomato muffins (because @SirKevbags says there should always be at least one savoury item).

@LostInTranslation - OMG! All of my favorite flavors! I can feel my waistline expanding just thinking about those cakes!!! :-D  Love the yellow-faced toffee cupcakes :-)  And those Rocky Road cupcakes...mmmmmmm!
Good idea to do savory muffins too - they sound awesome!

Sounds yummy (and agree with the savoury option). My favourite cupcake is raspberry and white choc. Cut a bit out the middle of  plain cupcake, fill with rasp jam and a few white choc chips. Mix some jam into the buttercream topping and sprinkle with some more choc chips, easy. The only thing that comes close is caramel crunch cupcakes :)

    Children building! ;-)

Just a side note for those with young children. Pick up the #10810 Duplo Push Train. Great value at £25 and so much play value as it comes with track and a level crossing.

just seen on facebook that the fairybricks van has been broken into and approx 2000 sets stolen

thought it worth posting here to raise awareness. The sets were all the same - 40222 24 in 1 Christmas build up, so if you see anyone selling high volumes there’s a good chance they are stolen

It seems like Fairy Friday 2018 is out of fashion?
    So here we are.
I will be holding the Annual Cake sale at QMC this Friday 2nd of March.
I am hoping there will be a good turnout this year, but a lot of staff are Ill with flu and subsequent infections so we will have to wait and see. A small Lego Raffle should further aid Fairy Bricks and the Nottingham Children's Hospital.
There should also be a small donation of Lego to go directly to the Lego Club of the Hospital.  :)

^ There's quite a few of us will be travelling to the NSC this Friday, for a show this weekend.
  • SirKevbagsSirKevbags Member Posts: 4,027
@Venunder I wouldn't say out of fashion, just rather stretched at the moment with an impending move and various event planning.

A visit to QMC is always a highlight though. On our most recent visit we were a even given some chocolates!

Good to hear it Sir Kevbags!
I have not yet had a chance to reconnect with the Play team myself due to busy work and a series of infections that have knocked me down, over the last couple of weeks.

I'm sure @SirKevbags will open a thread in due time, but tickets for Bricktastic 2018 are now available here. Manchester Central, June 30 - July 01.

Not sure yet whether I will be able to attend, but I will sure try. Last year's edition was fantastic :)

Thanks for what you do, @sirkevbags - are there any thoughts on making shirts (collared shirts) with the FairyBricks logo on them? It could be a part fundraiser/awareness thing. @huw, my Brickset polo shirts are getting a bit worse for the wear having worn them to work, LEGOLAND, and various other Lego places... Need a replacement soon!

Mrs Speedman has treated us to tickets to this and a night away. With the weather as it is, do you know if its all still going ahead @Paperballpark we're coming up from Reading area so a bit of a trek.
  • SalamalexSalamalex Member Posts: 297
@Speedman29 according to the Brickish website it is still going ahead.
  • PaperballparkPaperballpark Member Posts: 4,270
It is still going ahead yes. I'm in Leicester now, and there's barely any snow at the moment.
  • Speedman29Speedman29 Member Posts: 2,338
Cheers, we had an email from the NSC saying they won't refund tickets already bought, but will allow rebooking later in the year if you feel its unsafe to get there. Its snowing again here, but the main roads are clear, so I we'll make a call in the morning I think.

Fairy Friday was as successful as previous years.
The Weather did not hold us back, but a few staff members who normally take part were missing this year.

Our Donation has been made to Fairy Bricks and our Lego donation will be delivered to the Hospital later next week, thanks to the folk at pathology and LUG Notts.

@Venunder is LUG Notts still going? The website looks out of date and neglected, so I assumed the LUG had died a few years ago.

This made me laugh. The  Brickish site has looked "out of date" ever since I joined in 2011! But still going strong.

I didn't organise a Fairy Friday sale this year because I am just too busy at the moment to spare the time and couldn't take the extra stress of organising. Hoping to maybe do something else later in the year and come back to cakes next year.

    Definitely attending Bricktastic 2018 though!

Likewise LUG Notts still going strong, 3-4 of us meet each month.

Yeah it is, but it's still updated! What I meant was that the LUG Notts website doesn't look like it's ever updated.

We never update the website because it has links to the Forum where everything happens. :)

This years FF cake sale in Nottingham is happening tomorrow.
So hopefully we will match last year's donation. :)
