Thoughts on Rogue One sets
Well the first wave at least hasn't been received as well as TFA was. I guess I'll start with my own two cents:
Hovertank - Pretty authentic with the source material, although it isn't that interesting of source material in the first place. On the whole, this set reminds me of the FO Snowspeeder. Both sets have great minifigs and not the most interesting builds.
TIE Striker - Another well detailed, authentic model. Unfortunately looks like half a TIE Interceptor but that is Disney's fault, not LEGO's. Good figs though.
AT-ST - Honestly I thought it was too early for another one but here it is. Very, very good detailing around the cockpit. Looks as if two pilots could fit inside though, sadly, only one is included.
U-wing - A transport/gunboat hybrid in my opinion. Looking past the "growth" on the underside, the ship feels...plain. Just doesn't seem as unique as other rebel vessels i.e. A-wings or B-wings. Major plot characters are its best selling point.
Krennic's Shuttle - Well, it's an Imperial shuttle. Wings actually fold (unlike the TFA version). Includes pivotal minifigs. I'd say that it's at least on par, if not better, with the Tydirium we got in 2014.

However, the entire Rogue One range looks splendid. #75152 seems to have received the most criticism but I think it looks pretty impressive and I like the minifigures too. #75153 AT-ST Walker is my least favourite of the five as the leg articulation looks to be very poor, as with #75083 AT-DP last year, but the model looks great for display and includes a good selection of minifigures.
The three larger sets are my favourites though and I can see few improvements to be made based on the images. The troop bay on #75155 Rebel U-wing Fighter is a little too large but I am sure the increased play value will account for that.
Hopefully some lessons have been learned and the functionality of the initial designs is incorporated into the produced sets.
To be fair, none of the toy manufacturers versions of the AT-ST have got the movement in the legs right.
I had the old Kenner version with the button on the back to make the legs move and that looked like it was dancing on the spot when used, so getting a brick built version to work well would be extremely difficult while maintaining the balance of the model so it could stand on it's own.
AT-ST- Love the subtle sand blue highlights on this and the TIE. I have the previous version, but this one is tempting.
TIE Striker- Great set, but it's about $15 overpriced.
U-Wing- Eh. Not sold on the ship design, and the proportions on the set seem off. Maybe it'll look better person.
Imperial Shuttle- All those triangles and all I can think of is Illuminati.
Minifigs across the board look great.
I wish there was something in the >$30 range. The eventual battle packs should be good.
I love the idea of a rag tag Dirty Dozen in Star Wars, and I've gone from muted enthusiasm to excitement after the latest trailer. Perhaps this will replace the hole the death of the EU left in me.
I'll be picking up the U-Wing and Shuttle just to have the cast. I don't have any walkers so an ATST might be nice. I'm generally in for the Minifigs on this line.
Regarding what I've seen of the Jyn figure before the images were pulled, it seems she'll have that cool rebel hat. What would be the best hair piece for recreating her as we've seen in the trailers?
The mockup LEGO cast art we saw had the long ponytail, but Felicity Jones has short hair in the trailers. Any idea what hair this custom Jaina Solo is rocking?

So far, of the Rogue One sets, only the U-wing has seduced me. I'm a sucker for (letter)-wing ships, but not of TIE variants. And the rest just seem a bit eh. Maybe the shuttle will comvince me, after seeing the move though.
