I am going on a (business)trip/vacation, and this is the Lego(set) I take with me!?!
I am dying to know how many of you AFOL's, when packing your bags, stuff some Lego in your luggage to enjoy while you are away from home for whatever extended period you are not in arms reach of your collection at home to play and tinker with, or just to look at?!?
I am about to head off to the south of France for several weeks, and I am pondering if, and what set I shall take with me.
Off course I need to stay within the confines of the weight I can carry with me (15 kg) on the plane (not hand luggage), next to all the other stuff I need cram in my luggage.
I really feel like bringing a new set with me (if possible) like: #76051 or #70737 or #75904 or #75094
(without the box off course)
And then I think I am nuts, considering bringing such a 'big' set with me, or even considering carrying Lego with me on a trip at all.
When I do I also need to bring plenty of ziplock baggies with me so I can put it in something when going back.
I am curious about if and what amount of Lego (sets) other Lego fans carry with them traveling the globe.
Amuse and enlighten me with your stories/experiences.....................

Tada!!! That is more like it.
To relate to your question...can you buy a set at your destination instead of taking one with?
1. There's no room.
2. I'd be worried about missing pieces/instructions, or squashing the box.
3. I wouldn't have time.
4. It's a bit selfish when I have packed family board games to play...
So I think I'll leave the Lego at home. It'll be nice to return to!
that said I do often take a few minifigs for photo ops.
When flying it's usually 2 small 3in1 sets.
Enjoy your holiday @TheBigLegoski (and everyone else)
Ps funny we seem to have same timing, I've just built the tydirium, my husband is currently doing the airport I've and my son is making the titan mech ;)
I was just on vacation and I took #31043. Like was said previously, it's a 3-in-1 set and is small. I took it because it the helicopter comes off the truck-bed and has immediate playability (and swooshability). That alone was enough for me to buy it, but it was also the fact that when it sat on the nightstand at night, it looked good and wasn't overly obtrusive. Plus, the build time is less than an hour and was easy to take apart.
I'm not taking any with me but I'm going to look for some on the beach! Off to Cornwall in a couple of weeks.
Edit: it's http://brickset.com/sets/31007-1/Power-Mech
Compared to Belgian RRP some stuff was almost 50% off. I'd already spend my budget this month, but that was too good to be true so it's going out of next month's ;) . Now just make sure there is room in the car to take everything back!
